        Third Hand Capo

Equally useful to total beginners, recreational players, songwriters, and serious guitarists and composers.

The Third Hand Universal Partial Guitar Capo is the only device that can clamp any combination of strings at any fret on any guitar. This creates open-string effects similar to those achieved by non-standard guitar tunings. Changing the length of an open string with a partial capo is fundamentally different than retuning the guitar, since the geometry of the scales and chords does not change, and you can play many things just as you would in standard tuning, but still achieve the sound of an open tuning. Many interesting and very useful effects can be achieved through the simultaneous use of a partial capo and an altered tuning.

This Third Hand Capo allows you to play sounds on your guitar that are not possible any other way. It allows drone-string resonances and chord voicings that are very useful and desirable, and opens up a new world of guitar sounds to be explored by both serious guitarists and songwriters. It is also an extremely useful tool for teaching guitar and allows young children and those with learning disabilities to have a very successful guitar experience.

Expand your chordal and tuning repertoire with this unique tool. Order today.

In my opinion, this is a great tool. I can see where it would be very helpful to beginners who struggle with a certain chord, but it's applications to an experienced guitar player are amazing. I bought this capo mainly because one of the acoustic groups that I listen to was using a notched capo to form an E Sus chord. When I saw this I thought "Hey, I could use that". When I got it for Christmas, I found out just how amazing this little toy is. I quickly started experimenting. The capo comes with directions (it takes a couple seconds to set up right) and some suggestions (nothing that I found too exciting), but I quicly ventured off on my own. I formed an open G-type setting, where I capo the 1st, 2nd, and 6th string at the 3rd fret. I messed around long enough to find some chord formations, and I started working on my own song. Overall, every guitar player that's not too lazy to do some research and experimentation should buy this product. It takes a couple seconds to set up, and it buzzes from time to time, so I have to occasionally reposition it, but fro the price and the features, this capo is a deal!P.S. I'm not sure how helpful this tool would be to those who thrive on electric guitar playing, but then again, I haven't tried it yet, so...

The capo doesn't work exactly as billed and its pivot point causes it to roll away and put uneven tension and causes the string to go sharp. However there are not many options to accomplish a partial capo. I would prefer something with a support piece on each end so the elastic doesnt cause the capo to rotate and the pressure was more direct.
The main problem with this capo is the pivot design which allows it to walk off the strings unless the strings you want to depress are opposite of the plastic pivot. The elastic pulls away from the fulcrum point of the pivot and doesnt provide even tension.
The product is not badly made. The flexibility of the design is it's worst enemy which causes you to adjust the string spacers perhaps more than it should and as it wears they become sloppy and pull at an angle.
I don't feel it does what you would think of this device offering which is to offer unlimited options for which of the 6 strings you want depressed and if you move it or switch it it does require some playing around to get it right.

Comments about Third Hand Capo Universal Partial Guitar Capo:

As a gigging musician, I could never use this on stage. I found it helpful as an alternative to manual open tuning. But, I found it so difficult to position, I would rather just twist the knobs.

This capo is not that great, it is very hard to set up and use. You're better off spending the extra money for a better one. I definitely wouldn't reccomend this.

Don't knock it 'till you try it!

Comments about Third Hand Capo Universal Partial Guitar Capo:

It takes a few minutes to first set it up cause the directions don't tell you, but they are still helpful. The rubber stops are a little hard to move and not suited for fast changes. Excellent for dropped-e and great for beginners with harder chords or just easier moving between them.

The most bang for the buck

Comments about Third Hand Capo Universal Partial Guitar Capo:

I bought this capo for 1 song only, Rylynn by Andy Mckee. Other than having to work around the bulk of the unit, as it protrudes slightly to each side, I find this capo an exceptional value. It is versatile in its configuration. I set it up, buzz free, the first time i used it. To eliminate any buzz, simply slide the elastic away from the buzzing string(s). Doing so will draw that side tighter and *poof*, no more buzzing. I wish I'd have thought of this idea and produced it years ago. A wonderful little addition to my guitar case. It is 1 of 3 capos own. The others are a Dunlop Pro Curved Capo and a modified Kyser Pro/Am Capo. The Third Hand capo is still my favorite.

It's okay, but I won't use it very often.

Comments about Third Hand Capo Universal Partial Guitar Capo:

It's a little weird at first, but once you get it set up, it's actually quite effective. With a little time, it can be set up buzz-free on anything (it works just fine on my Strat, Les Paul, Danelectro, PRS, Tele, Ibanez, and Schecter). The main drawback is that it takes a good 5 minutes to get it set up just right. A good idea, but not the best execution.

Saving the World From buying this

Comments about Third Hand Capo Universal Partial Guitar Capo:

I saw this Capo online and I thought Hey this might come in handy I can tune lower and switch to drop D in a second. Well when i got it i was very disappointed. This thing is made of 6 little rubber Sring stoppers and the strap that hold it made of rubber bands.. Trust me It takes about litteraly 2 mins to set up every time and its is so cheap. You cant even set it up right with out making the stringes buss like crazy. Not only that the strap broke the other day. I would have been better off making one. STAY AWAY from this product.

I had fun with this capo from the time I applied it till I fell asleep on the futon. Haven't had that much fun in years. The design is simple, old school, but reliable. I need another one to use in tandem for even more interesting tuning options.

Comments about Third Hand Capo Universal Partial Guitar Capo:

I bought this a while ago and I can only say it is not worth it. The concept is an good, but with the quality of the capo it is actually faster for me to retune the strings. When you go to adjust each individual rubber stopper, sometimes it won't match the strings right and you have to reposition it and then you try again and other things are coming along with the one you selected, it's just very cumbersome. When I bought it I was very excited to try it and use it but I ended up tossing it after about a half an hour. Nice idea, but easier to just retune
