Clear and brilliant.

Apart from the plain mandolin E string, Thomastik-Infeld Mandolin strings are made of finely polished tin-plated silver steel, flat wound with chrome steel wire. Their elastic, steel alloy core has excellent sustain. On the instrument, the mandolin strings sound clear and brilliant, with no metallic twang. The string's structure has been optimized for tremolo play. This string set responds well to fast changes of fingering. Tuning is stable and the strings are durable. Thomastik-Infeld mandolin strings are supplied in pairs, and we recommend changing strings 2 at a time.

I bought a Rogue RM-100 Mandolin and began taking lessons from a local instructor. He highly recommended Thomastik strings, medium for the mandolin I have. The incredible change in sound was truly amazing. Yes, I spent almost as much for these strings as I did for the mandolin. As with another review, they do get out of tune until broken in, but since then, minimal tuning is needed. What may be more amazing is the fact that I put these strings on this mandolin over 3 years ago.  I played them quite a bit at first, then life got in the way. I've picked it up again, moderately and have been impressed that the strings still sound as good as new. A friend, who CAN play, thought the Rogue sounded great and asked about the strings.  He rips up the tunes on my Rogue and these Thomastik strings and it sounds fantastic!

I highly recommend using these strings!

ive allways used d'darrio strings and recently been hearing a lot about these thomastic's so i thought i'll give em a try. they are expensive but they are suppose to last longer. Talk about tone! they sound fantasic on my breedlove kf and the feel is to die for. its like running your fingers across silk. and the action is great. these strings arent stiff and hard at all. they're a little stretchy at first but dont let that fool you. once you get them tuned and broke in they stay that way. overall a very excelent product.

I've used these for a number of years on several old mandos including my current 1927 Gibson A...they last a long long time and keep their clear sweet tone...flat wound means no buzz and no hesitation sliding up and down the neck...I've used most of the others, these are more expensive 'cause they're worth it.
