Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

Switched from D'Addario Chromes for a set of these. They were pricey, but supposed to be long-lasting and great-sounding. I put them on my Fender Jaguar three days ago, and they were certainly great feeling and sounding. I played a short set at an open mic that night (About 20 minutes of play time) and got about 2/3's of the way through a four hour gig the following night before the first ("skinny e") string broke. These sounded and felt great when I put them on, but for the price per pack, there is no excuse for one breaking so quickly in the hands of a professional, practiced player, or for a defective string in a pack. I will be back to the Chromes immediately. I hate to say it, but don't waste your money. Chromes will do the job just fine.

    archtop strings

    By Dan Coy

    from Atlanta

Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

This set of strings sounds full with bell-like highs, tight lows and punchy mids. The tension feel less than most flatwound strings of this guage so they seem easier to play. Depending on the conditions a set lasts me about 40 hours of (hard) playing time, before they start to sound too lifeless and out of tune.
I would like to give then a higher rating but they are just TOO EXPENSIVE!

    Great Strings but Expensive

    By Jim Bryer

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

Before trying The Thomastik Strings, I was using the D"addario"s Half Wound 11's. In general the Half Wounds were good strings, well balanced, stayed in tune, liked the gauge, and would recommend them, however I was finding the first string (11) a little weak in on my guitar.
Also tried D'addario Flat Wound 11's.Again found the first string a little weak on my guitar and the other strings a bit heavy in gauge.
Liked the idea of the 12 (first string) in the Thomastik. And the other strings are a little less heavier in gauge compared to the D'addario Flats 11's .I immediately noticed a richer, clear, and smoother tone in my guitar with the JS 112. They are well balanced in tone and stay in tune well.Great strings for the smooth jazz tone but pricey.

    That extra little something

    By Rhythme Junky

    from Omaha, NE

Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

I have used a couple sets of flatwound strings just to get a different flavor but have never had any like this. I put them on and started tuning. Right away I noticed there was kind of a modutated quality about them. I plugged my hollow-body archtop into my acoustic amp and it was eerie. It sounded very acoustic and if I was only listening and didn't know better I could swear there was a chorus effect in there somewhere. If you like stuff that sounds raunchy these aren't for you... definitely not for you metal-heads. But if you like a richer, warmer, silky smooth sound with lots of string response then these are for you, and me too.
They're a little pricy but I could be persuaded to pay a little more given their unique sound.

Playing is smooth. Nice warm tone. Brings out the character of my new hollowbody, which was shipped from the factory with lighter gauge round-wounds.

    The Best

    By jazzmoking

    from Bangor,Maine

Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

Uncomparable in tone. These sound like chimes on my archtop and last a long time. What else do you want from a string. Oh, the red winding on the ends look sharp as well. This was re-affirmed when I needed a set and had to a substitute. They were good strings by a good company but still did not come close to the Inkfeld. I had one dud string in a set once (in 10 years) and the company sent me a single string to replace it.
Wish they cost a lot less but then they would probably sound like the rest.

    Outstanding Thomastix

    By cwaduke

    from New Hampshire

Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

I have tried every other flatwound string that exists. The Thomastix Swing strings without question feel the best, sound the warmest and smoothest and last at least 3 times as long as every other. I wouldn't waste my money on any other jazz string.

    Great for Jazz and Beyond

    By JazzBuff57

Comments about Thomastik JS112 Medium Light Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

If you are guitar player that loves the true sound of strings that give you what you want when and how you want it, these are the only strings to buy. They cost more and they last better than any string out there.I have played for over 40 years. I love them.I buy them from MF but have found blow sales for a lot less. If you have never tried them, treat yourself. They feel like butter.
