Comments about Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

Honestly, if you want that full-bodied jazz tone, this is the string. I use them on my Gibson ES-137 and nothing touches them for tone. I have also tried the light (JS111) version, but they DO NOT stand up the the heavies. The lights break easily (I broke the high E hardly a month after putting them on--not so good when a set of these are over twenty bucks) and I know it wasn't from heavy playing. Too, the lights just don't have the punch of the heavier gauge. However, the heavy gauge last much longer and have an wonderfully expressive, "sing-y" tone. Nothing else approaches that George Benson/Kenny Burrell/Pat Martino sound that I love.

One caveat--if you're not used to heavy gauge strings, prepare for them to give your arms, wrists and fingers an intense workout. You'll feel like a beginner until you get into shape. But once you do, you'll find that nothing else allows you the nuance you're capable of getting from these. More string means more flavor--so fatten up!

Thomastik Jazz Swing!!!

Comments about Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

I have used Thomastik strings for a number of years but mostly on an acoustic 12 string. I just put a set of Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings on a Paul Reed Smith I Hollowbody electric. I have had this guitar for close to a year now and have been putting slightly heavier sets on. I really like these mediums. With a good clean setting with a bit more base, the guitar almost sounds acoustic. I've found with a set this heavy it is a bit harder to get a bend out of them though. Great strings and if you like full warm tone try a set. I think you'll like them. KatieStar

Comments about Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings last forever and show no signs of rusting. I live in a very humid area and always have trouble with corrosion. They are silky smooth and sound great. You get what you pay for.

These Strings Sing

By larrybewary

Comments about Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

I installed a set of these 13's on a Fender F-50 Resonatator Guitar modified with a P-90 neck pickup two months ago. The strings are warm and offer great sustain. I run the guitar through a Fender Blues Jr. tube amp (okay unplugged, as well). These strings are easy on the fingers, and because they are flat wound, there is virtually no string squeek. Because the F-50 has a shorter string scale like the Les Paul, 13's are easy to bend or to use vibrato. I was told by a tech that Thomastik has been making hand made strings for violins, etc. for quite some time. This is a quality product that's worth the price.

Comments about Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

I was looking for that clean jazz sound from a epi broadway and a guy recommended these. MF had the best price and free ship. I might try a set on my 335,but will drop to a 9 and 11 for little b and e so I can get full tone bends easier

Comments about Thomastik JS113 Medium Flatwound Jazz Swing Electric Guitar Strings:

Within the first 5 minutes, the 1st string broke. I can't remember this happening in 60 years of playing. Jazz-box player - Gibson, Guild, etc. This was my first set of TI. The sound is as good as it gets. They have lasted for 6 months. I do replace the 1st and 2nd strings more frequently. Would award 5 stars if string didn't break.
