Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

Use this in my home studio, It is fairly big, great for holding heavier mics(u47, 251,sterling st77 etc.) and it rolls on wheels which are pretty heavy duty. This is a great mic stand.

THE BEST STAND I HAVE EVER PURCHASED! IF YOU TRULY NEED A REAL PROFESSIONAL STAND AND HAVE A HEAVIER MIC, NEED A SOLID BOOM, OR HAVE ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES LIKE A POP FILTER, NOISE SHIELD, WITH EXTRA WEIGHT, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS STAND. I TRIED THE CHEAP SCISSOR ARM JUNK AND REGULAR STANDS AND THEY JUST DON'T WORK. WORTH EVERY PENNY, ESPECIALLY THE WAY MUSICIANS FRIEND WORKS WITH YOU.

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

This is one excellent stand, the best I've ever seen. I've got the condenser microphone with a shock mount and pop screen from the "R0de Microphones NT1-A Condenser Mic Bundle" solidly mounted on it (which is also an excellent value) in my home studio. I was previously using dynamic stage microphones, so I'm delighted to finally have a good combination in my studio for recording vocals.

The stand itself is built like a tank, and weighs almost 40 pounds. You could probably jack up a car with it, it's that heavy-duty. Thankfully, it's on skateboard-like casters, which are also of great quality. The casters have foot-operated locking levers, and I'd be a little happier with them if they were metal instead of plastic. I'm a bit concerned that they will break eventually, but the stand is field serviceable, so you can always order new parts if something breaks instead of trashing the whole stand. I've never seen that in a microphone stand before.

Just a few very minor gripes...

      - Even though I hand tighten the vertical tube that screws into the base as much as possible, it still comes unscrewed sometimes. I'm hesitant to tighten it using a tool like channel locks, as I don't want to void the warranty or strip the threads. Ultimate Support really needs to add a bottom locking nut there... There's not enough thread sticking out to add one myself. Not really a big deal, as I'm planning on putting Locktite on the threads which I think will resolve the issue.

      - The stand comes with a chintzy wrench to tighten the casters to the base. It bent after I tightened two of them, but what can you expect from a one-time use tool. I naturally just used a regular wrench instead. You'll need a very thin one, as the space there is tight.

Bottom line, HIGHLY recommended... Very high quality construction, and the adjustments can be set up in any way you can imagine. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, and this stand is worth every penny.

      Extremely happy with this purchase!

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

This is the best studio boom I've ever had. Very well built and the wheels are the best I've seen on any stand like this. The pipes are strong and thick, this is not like a regular cheapo 1/2 tube stand. It looks to be about an inch of tubing on this thing. It has nice clear urethane wheels. Once you get the stand where you want it, you can lock the wheels. And they clean easily, which is another advantage. I used one of these stands for my heavy vocal mics like a Golden Age R1 Active Tube ribbon mic and I also have two more stands dedicated to the two heavy APEX 420 condensers used for the front-of-the-kit overheads on the drum kit. I've never had a problem. The drop down on the top of the boom can be positioned anywhere, like if you want it to be straight out on the boom. The base is very trendy cool looking. I highly recommend this stand to anybody needing a stand with a long boom and a heavy base.

Very heavy duty mic stand...the wheels on the base are like inline skate wheels, moves easily over my carpet. great for overhead mic recording. Wasn't expecting it to be this heavy duty, was exactly what i was looking for.

Great mic stand in terms of heavy weight and sturdiness. Several axes of adjustment, along with large counter weight on the boom. Nice rubberized wheels. My only complaint is that it does not isolate itself from the building's air-conditioning vibration as well as I would like.

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

Fairly sturdy stand and so far seems to hold well and is easily adjusted. Compared to other similar products (large studio mic stands), this is a good value. It's very easy to assemble (less than 5 minutes) but the styrofoam packaging gets little bits all over and made a mess (its full of static so even sweeping up is difficult as it sticks to everything). Some kind of greener packaging - maybe a formed cardboard (like an egg carton)might be nicer. But yeah, I know, that doesn't affect how it works. Once assembled its great. So I give it 5 stars anyway.
