Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

I never worry about my mic any more. That thing ain't going nowhere! Wonderful build, really sturdy. Previously had a cheap onstage mic stand so i was skeptical about paying the price for the MC 125, but the peace of mind that you get alone is worth it. I don't even take my mic down anymore. I just leave it up and cover it with a crown royal bag (nice tip right there) to prevent dust. And i sleep quite well knowing it won't tip over. Yes it's costly, but trust me..just buy it. Your mic was just as much of an investment. Makes no sense not to protect it.

Almost too tall for a vocal mic

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

I am glad I purchased this mic stand. Way better than those cheap stands. Just keep in mind that it's best suited as a boom mic....so drum overheads, things like that. I guess you could hang a mic upside down to get it lower. I used this as a vocal mic stand with the Reflexion Filter on it. It works fine because the mic is connected to the reflexion filter which is adjustable as far as where you want to clamp it.
I love the wheels. I can easily move this around in my home studio.

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

If you need a great overhead stand that you want your mic's to reach up and out, look no further. Those cheap, flimsy standard stands you'll sell or toss. The base is on fantastic wheels lock, the post and tightening to your heights is perfect...The weight on the arm is very heavy, just make sure you have the height above your head or lower so you don't walk into that. I have three and my others are collecting dust.

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

Folks, in the past cheap was the main criteria by which I made purchase decisions for mic stands. No more! It really makes a difference. No, some of you will argue, that mic sound is not influenced by the stand, and that is at least partially true. But my ability to work with me mics is so much easier and better and more stable. This is truly a quality product. Yes, a monster stand, but a "good monster stand". If you have invested in quality mics. with cheap stands, you owe it to yourself to try such a product. Highly recommended.

Use this in my home studio, It is fairly big, great for holding heavier mics(u47, 251,sterling st77 etc.) and it rolls on wheels which are pretty heavy duty. This is a great mic stand.

THE BEST STAND I HAVE EVER PURCHASED! IF YOU TRULY NEED A REAL PROFESSIONAL STAND AND HAVE A HEAVIER MIC, NEED A SOLID BOOM, OR HAVE ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES LIKE A POP FILTER, NOISE SHIELD, WITH EXTRA WEIGHT, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS STAND. I TRIED THE CHEAP SCISSOR ARM JUNK AND REGULAR STANDS AND THEY JUST DON'T WORK. WORTH EVERY PENNY, ESPECIALLY THE WAY MUSICIANS FRIEND WORKS WITH YOU.

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

This is one excellent stand, the best I've ever seen. I've got the condenser microphone with a shock mount and pop screen from the "R0de Microphones NT1-A Condenser Mic Bundle" solidly mounted on it (which is also an excellent value) in my home studio. I was previously using dynamic stage microphones, so I'm delighted to finally have a good combination in my studio for recording vocals.

The stand itself is built like a tank, and weighs almost 40 pounds. You could probably jack up a car with it, it's that heavy-duty. Thankfully, it's on skateboard-like casters, which are also of great quality. The casters have foot-operated locking levers, and I'd be a little happier with them if they were metal instead of plastic. I'm a bit concerned that they will break eventually, but the stand is field serviceable, so you can always order new parts if something breaks instead of trashing the whole stand. I've never seen that in a microphone stand before.

Just a few very minor gripes...

          - Even though I hand tighten the vertical tube that screws into the base as much as possible, it still comes unscrewed sometimes. I'm hesitant to tighten it using a tool like channel locks, as I don't want to void the warranty or strip the threads. Ultimate Support really needs to add a bottom locking nut there... There's not enough thread sticking out to add one myself. Not really a big deal, as I'm planning on putting Locktite on the threads which I think will resolve the issue.

          - The stand comes with a chintzy wrench to tighten the casters to the base. It bent after I tightened two of them, but what can you expect from a one-time use tool. I naturally just used a regular wrench instead. You'll need a very thin one, as the space there is tight.

Bottom line, HIGHLY recommended... Very high quality construction, and the adjustments can be set up in any way you can imagine. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, and this stand is worth every penny.

          Extremely happy with this purchase!
