I use these stands to mount WiFi access points. I own 31 of them and have had about 20 working without an issue the past 1 - 2 years. Remember that AP's are very light (about 3 - 6 lbs.) compared to a loud speaker so that is where you will run into problems. The collars are plastic so they seem like they will break if you consistently over-tighten them. In our application, they have never broken and don't need to be cranked down hard. I also like the fact that these have a safety pin that goes through the shaft to keep it from sliding. All in all, pretty good stand for light equipment.

I had purchased a set of these and on the second gig, I saw that the carbon collar was cracked. I think it happened during transport, not sure how it happened. I figured that ordering a new collar and some replacement rivets from Ultimate would not be a big deal, right? Wrong. They said that there were no replacement parts available for this unit due to the collar being riveted to the legs, and that I would have to send the stand in postage paid to Ultimate. After doing the math, I figured that after shipping, parts and labor, the stand would cost more to repair then to replace. So I did some research, and learned that On Stage Stands does sell replacement collars, so I purchased a pair of those. Have not had a problem with those at all. A short time later, the second Ultimate stand had a crack on the seam in the collar. So basically I paid $80.00 for a really nice carrying bag that came with the stand. I think I have lost all faith in Ultimate after this experience.

Great stand - I use them to mount WiFi equipment for a conference center. Very stable and I like the metal rod that will keep everything safe if the collar gets loose. I have owned them for over a year now - no collar breakage, still holds up a 5lb. access point.

Have only been using for a couple of weeks, but they are doing the job with no problems. Are much lighter than I expected. Would be nice if they came with a case of some sort, but I'm sure I will survive.

Comments about Ultimate Support TS-70B Speaker Stand:

I Purchased a pair of these in May 2010. Used them 4 times. The Glass-reinforced Polycarbonate Fittings and Collars, that they say is so much stronger than the rest, are cracked. Customer service at Ultimate Support says it's a non warranty issue. Offered to sell me more of the same junk. I will be throwing these in the trash and purchasing another brand. You should consider the same.

Comments about Ultimate Support TS-70B Speaker Stand:

Please read the other reviewers comments. These are not professional quality and the issues about cracking and so forth are true. Last night I opened my stand bag and screws and bolts were all over. I tried to maintain these but it just didn't work. It's too dangerous to try and use in a live setting. I don't know what alternative I will get but these are not the ones. You get what you pay for.

Comments about Ultimate Support TS-70B Speaker Stand:

I am a mobile Karaoke guy and have a set of Yamaha 15's that I put on these multiple times a week. I have yet to have one break. I am not sure what people are doing to cause the clamp to crack, but I am guessing they are cranking them down WAY too tight! The stand has a safety pin that I use every time...in fact I hardly ever tighten the knob anymore as the pin keeps the stand up much better/safer. They also have a very wide base...someone would have to run full-on into these to knock them over IF you have the tripod portion fully extended as it should be.All in all, I have had these in use for over a year and I don't baby them. They get tossed into the back of my van and still hold up just fine. I would definitely buy again.

              TIGHTEN STANDS

              By

              from Long Island

Comments about Ultimate Support TS-70B Speaker Stand:

The collars of the ultimate support stands are made of a carbon fiber to keep the weight down. They will crack if tightened to much. Rule of thumb if you have these kind of stands: Place your speaker on the stand First. Adjust to required height and gently tighten up the slack. Stop tighening at point where it just stop slipping. That's enough. Walk away, because you'll be tempted to give it just another little bit and that is when they will crack! You will need 2 people to do this. If you do a solo gig, buy the crank stands. Very important that the ultimate stands are rated for the weight of your speakers. In my experience with ultimate stands,(guitar, amp, speaker), the max weight they tell you that their stands can handle is actually LESS THAN they really CAN! One good thing, these stands are nice and light and fold neatly. Just be careful.

Not very durable, poor warranty service

              By

              from Rhinebeck, NY

Comments about Ultimate Support TS-70B Speaker Stand:

I bought a pair of these to hold small CGM speakers (12" speaker and horn; pretty light). Used them one night and packed them up. Months later I pulled them out for another concert to find one of the plastic collets that adjust the pole height had cracked. I called Ultimate to arrange a warranty repair. They said to send it to them prepaid. If they determine it's my fault, they will invoice me. In any case, the stand is backordered, so the replacement will take 60+ days. This means I have to buy a new stand for my concert. BTW, the warranty is 5 years, not lifetime.
