I have been using these sticks for about 5 months now, I have always used either regal tips or vic firth, but these vater sticks are awesome. The length and balance are excellent, please do not stop making these!!!!
I have used the Vater DSKs for two years. I used to use AHEADs, but the tapers kept cracking. I bought the Vaters to use as backups, but when I played with them, I didn't even consider going back to AHEAD. I have received many comments from studio techs saying that these sticks make the ride and hats sound a hundred times crisper. They are long enough (17") to reach anything. The tips hold up longer than the tips of other brands. They are a little heavy, but everyone that doesn't like muddy cymbal tone should give these a shot.
These sticks are great. Not only because the are product of one of todays best drummers in one of todays best bands, but because they play awesome. They really got some bite to them. They're long for getting cymbals, and thick to get the very best sound out of your drums. If your new to drumming, start with something smaller, but work your way up to these. KORN Forever.
These sticks are wonderful. I love the length of them. They are solid. It took me a while just to break them in. The wood is amazing. I can reach my drums and cymbals with no effort at all. Only problem that I had was a few nylon tips have broken off of some of my sticks. But other than that, I suggest grabbing a few pairs of these. They are amazing. I plan to keep using these for future use. They really project sound as well. The barrel tips just really project the attack. They feel a little heavier than 5B's, but they are wonderful. I really do recommend these sticks. Great investment. Toughest sticks by far that I have played with. Go get a pair. Worth the money.
As over the years that i play my drums i have found a trend...Sooner or later the skin will break the stick in half, within a few weeks or so. That doesn't happen with these sticks. They are as solid as AHEAD sticks. Definatly try them. Length wise, you will find that you will reach much more easily to far away cymbals or drums. Dance Metal, like rammstein if youre wondering, requires a loud snare, these sticks will make what you thought loud seem like ghost notes. Best sticks i've played so far.
I've been using Vater sticks for about 2 years now. In those 2 years i broke one pair. I recently got the DSK Silveria sticks and they are great. The extended length feels great. The tips sound great on cymbals and the beefier taper lets you ride on crashes and not destroy your stick.Personally, I love these sticks but its an acquired taste.
I love Vater sticks, period. I play with nothing else. I have used many different Vater sticks, and still use the ROCK stick and others very often. But when I need reach and speed and power, NOTHING performs for me, NOTHING works for me, NOTHING gives me equal speed and agility like the David Silveria DSK. It's LONG but not heavy. It works harder so that you work less. Don't let the length scare you, try it ONCE and you'll agree. It's a gem.
As an up-and-coming Variety Drummer (Patent Pending ~_^), I found myself in dire need of a stick that would not only shine in all formats of music, but would also stand the test of my thunderous drumming. I started off playing Vic Firth. After that, Zildjian. After that, Hot Sticks (Dear God). Vic Firth again, generic no name sticks, Hot Sticks, back to Vic Firth...Then, as I flipped through the liner notes for Follow The Leader, I saw that Mr. Silveria played Vater sticks, a brand I had not yet tried. So I went to the site and found the exact sticks he's been using for X amount of years, the signature DSK sticks. I searched for a while, but finally found a Vater distributor in my local Volkwein's shop. I had the guy who has helped me for two years straight with drumming questions order me a brick of them, and two weeks later, I had my sticks. I gotta say, I've never ever played a pair of sticks like the DSKs. The extra reach is, well, extra reach, the power makes you feel like a thunder God, and the durability is unbeatable. Honestly, it takes me 3-4 months, MONTHS to break these sticks, and I play every day, 1-5 hours. Look at my playing styles! Also, I found that although most nylon tips are gone within a week (or first play - Hot sticks *cringe*), the DSK tips only broke off when shut in a freaking car door (accident >_>) or when beat mercilessly against a cracked cymbal. The only grip I have is that it's someone else's sig on the stick, so I'll have to have Vater design me my own along these lines someday =D Bottom line, you can't beat these sticks, no matter how hard you try. What're you waiting for?
I've tried every other barnds from vic firth to pro mark. None of them sticks have been able to hold up to what ever I throw at it. I tried them once and can say I'm searching no more for a stick that can be depended on night after night.
These sticks are indeed quite crafty. The added length on the handle/taper amkes a world of a difference and feels more comfortable for those of us with larger hands. The weight is placed more towards the tip, giving it a more solid feel.Great for playing on bells and tom grooves. The tips, couldn't ask for more. Also great as rudiment sticks to build up wrist reflexes naturally.
