Comments about Vic Firth Becken Cymbal Mallet:

These are no better for cymbal swells than my tympani mallets but otherwise are just fine. I was expecting them to be a bit softer -- for that reason, these mallets are best for cymbals larger than 18".

    Nice mallet, but not soft

Comments about Vic Firth Becken Cymbal Mallet:

I needed a very soft mallet for doing rolls on a gong so that you could not hear the mallet strikes, only the wash of sound from the gong. The description of these mallets made it sound like they were designed exactly for this purpose. It even says SOFT in the title. In fact, they are actually quite solid and you can clearly hear the strike of the mallet on the gong, which isn't what I wanted. They're nice mallets, just not as expected. (Note, the picture shows two different mallets -- you'll get the lower one.)
