Comments about Vic Firth Danny Carey Signature Drumsticks:

I've been playing drums professionally for over 25 years and all together for over 35 years, and these are without a doubt one of the best drumsticks on the market. I've tried every signature stick VF makes.. They very comfortable, durable and well balanced. The tapered inset is set perfectly at the balance point of the stick. Don't let the large size fool you. These sticks perform very well at light volumes and are easy to control. They will rock out too if the venue or song requires it. I bounced back and forth between these and the Zildjian Travis Barker model (yes Travis isn't that great but his sticks are awesome) and finally ended up using the DC's full time as the difference in wrist stiffness at the end of a show was greatly reduced using these sticks. This signifies that the stick is doing more work which is what drummers strive for. The teardrop tips sound ridiculous on my Zildjian K heavy ride and intricate sticking details on both snare and toms can be heard easily through the mix. As a bonus, if you have sweaty slippery hands, these sticks will not slide because of the taper in the grip. Easily one of the best performing sticks out there and a far cry better than most signature sticks. If the situation requires minimal volume I just switch to Hotrods, otherwise the DC's are in my hands. BTW, if you break one of these sticks, you either need anger management classes or need to be driving railroad spikes in crossties

Even though Danny Carey is my favorite drummer, that's not the reason that these sticks are my favorite. The taper at the grip is amazing plus I love the thickness and weight of the stick. Perfect sticks.

    A great Tool

    By Hisco

Comments about Vic Firth Danny Carey Signature Drumsticks:

These sticks are incredibly well balanced. They're the best pair of sticks I have used in eight years of playing. I won't play live without them. As mentioned in another review, they do chip quickly and you should expect to replace them every three months if you play an hour or so a day.

Comments about Vic Firth Danny Carey Signature Drumsticks:

I WAS NOT PAID FER DIS REVIEW. I use reviews all the time to aid in my buying decisions. So it's only fair that I post a few.....kinda the pay it forward thing. I'm 55 y/o, been playing drums for 43 years, ( by no means does length of time equal skill and ability), I build/repair guitars and acoustic drums and totally love the mad drumming skills of Danny Carey and totally love TOOL. The stick sizes I have used are Vater 7A, 5A, 5B and 2B, and 2 sizes of Vic Firth marching corps sticks. I was playing the Vater 2B until I tried the Danny Carey sticks. The Danny Carey sticks are the closet to perfect I have yet to find; perfect weight, length, balance, wood density and the "finger fitted" area prevents my fingers from drifting up the stick. These sticks are amazingly comfortable and the rebound of the stick, provides an ease of movement never before experienced with another stick. For sure, this is my new favorite stick; in fact, after I tried the first pair, I bought 4 more pairs...............they are sooo worth the price. Just because I've played 43 years doesn't mean I'm any good. Ever notice how bad the drivers in their 80s are...and they've been driving for 60 years. Dunning Kruger effect baby!!!

Comments about Vic Firth Danny Carey Signature Drumsticks:

I was browsing signature drumsticks, comparing them to the ones I did use then, Neil Peart Japanese oak, when I noticed something very different about Danny Carey's sticks. They were tapered to fit the hand. I use lots of technique in my playing as well as power when needed an these sticks fit like a natural glove. I let one of my friends use the pair an they stopped mid song to make sure their head was not playing tricks on them :) I'm not switching sticks any time soon. I would encourage anyone to try them, especially during performances. To truly put them an you to the test. Great sticks, great buy an thought up by a great artist.

Comments about Vic Firth Danny Carey Signature Drumsticks:

I am generally a smaller diameter stick guy. Neil Peart ProMark size. I do have difficulty hanging on to sticks sometimes. I always liked the Trueline sticks of years ago that Danny used. I thought I would give these a try. I really like them. Easy to hang on to with the recess in the handle and the weight is really nice. I am a believer in bigger sticks thanks to these.
