Comments about Vic Firth Live Wires Brushes:

these are good for live work, particularly if you're in a louder band looking for different textures. If you're doing more traditional jazz, you probably won't like the stirring sound. Also, while I really like the volume you can get on cymbals compared to regular brushes, I think the little beads produce a lot of extra ringing overtones on my snare, so I may end up using a regular brush in my left hand. I've only had them for a week or so; I can't make any comments on their durability.

Comments about Vic Firth Live Wires Brushes:

Not worth the money the balls on the end of the wire fell off in 1 use and the wires started coming out. Only buy if your doing really light jazz or they wont last.

Comments about Vic Firth Live Wires Brushes:

Vic Firth continues to provide quality innovations for today's drummer. The Live Wires are a great tool for increased volume and especially effective in a more pronounced cymbal attack when playing in a larger ensemble. My live wires have served me well, especially in live , outdoors performances. The really cut through!

These are great Brushes, just absolutely amazing for the quiet player. They are slightly louder than normal brushes when executing sweeping motions but isn't a big deal.

Comments about Vic Firth Live Wires Brushes:

I've been very pleased with my LW brushes. A good full smooth scrape, slap is great, and has more volume than regular brushes. Strands are more rigid for double stroke and stronger tom volume. I've Used Regal Tip brushes for years and various rutes. They are all very good tools, but for that "between and brush and a Rake," get the Live Wires.
Ordered on Wednesday and here on Sat..and we are in the cornfields. ALWAYS swift delivery with good packaging

              Live Wires

Comments about Vic Firth Live Wires Brushes:

At first glace, these brushes look great, and they are. I like the idea of the new sound texture for brushes and are indeed louder. Ive used them for my jazz band and other bands and they work like a charm.
              However...
Because the little balls on the end make it louder, they can scratch and make this soft screaching sound. It can really ruin the sound of the song if heard (only the drummer whos playing can really hear it). This little screach is made because of the balls scratching against the head in a weird way. They also have a large triangle "diameter" so playing on a small snare can be hard.
Overall, they work great on cymbals and I mean really great. They have a really cool and distinct sound.

Comments about Vic Firth Live Wires Brushes:

I love these! For that in between, not quite a ballad, not quite Latin, funk, etc., these are outstanding! Added bonus: double strokes are easy to play, even for me, ol' slow-hands!
