This sustain pedal works really well, once you coral it from trying to get away. I finally came to the conclusion that it had to be placed against the diagonal leg of the keyboard stand to make it behave. Being a trained organist/pianist, my sustaining foot had no problem with the altered position from that of a grand piano. Just like riding a bicycle, you never forget how.
I use this pedal with the Yamaha PSR- E423 and have never had any problem with it reversing it's function as has been observed by other users. The pedal feels good while being used and is absolutely silent in operation. It is almost a match in action to my baby grand making the change from one to the other almost unnoticeable.
So, Great pedal, but if you must have it right in front of you; you'll need two manhole covers to keep it from getting away. I've tried all kinds of mats to no avail. Butt it against the corner of a keyboard stand and it will be fine. Just pay attention to the cable from the pedal. No Pinching!

Our home recently flooded, and among the rooms flooded were my office and music studio. As I was moving everything out of the rooms with six inches of standing water and more pouring in, I was just sick to my stomach and trying to salvage whatever I could. When I picked up my sustain pedal, water just poured out of it! I let it drain and set it in a pile of stuff to haul to the dump. A few days later, as things were drying out, I decided to try to use the pedal - just to see what would happen. Plugged this puppy in and - VOILA - worked like it had never been swimming. I was shocked! Now, if i can just keep it from trying to run away when I'm using it - we'll be best friends... LOL!

I have used this model sustain pedal since the 80's. I still use my original one in my studio/practice room. I bought the new one to go with my new gig rig. works just fine.

This would be a very good unit in most cases, because it's sturdy, heavy and will not shift around on the floor. The problem for me is that it doesn't have a polarity switch - it worked in the wrong mode for my Korg SP-170s digital piano, so 'sustain' was on when pedal was up, and off when down. I had to return it and go with another pedal that had the switch.
Very heavy duty, and seems to be built well, but it didn't work on my keyboard.
The price is very reasonable, so if it works for your keyboard, buy it.
