for a single pedal this is amazing. even with the wire frame it still gets the job done. its solid and sturdy.
This pedal came with my set, and it fell apart constantly. The first time I sat down and played my brand new set, it fell apart. After Duck Taping it back together (with A LOT of Duck Tape) it stopped falling apart. It worked well for a time, but then the spring wore out on it, so it started to get really sloppy, and kept striking me in the foot and shin. I would not suggest that anybody buy one of these unless they come prepared with a roll of Duck Tape, and a replacment spring for it.
It's as fast as my pearl standard model (the sleeper/world beater that shipped with all the late 80's/early 90's pearl export kits) because it's a direct copy and almost as fast as my speed king. It may only have a wire brace but look at the speed king. If it was tough and fast enough for John Bonham, this is good enough for the rest of us mortals. The cross bar under the drive shaft saves the bearings and races and does more stabilization and flex control than a floor plate ever could. The infinately adjustable beater-rest-angle is also nice (something DW still hasn't quite caught up to). I play classic rock and bebop which means I have to be very fast to compete with my colleagues who have copped to a double pedal. NOTHING beats this pedal at this price or much higher. If you're a nut for heel plate stability (remember, everyone did fine with speed kings for 50 years) then go ahead and spend the extra cash on the floor plate. It's really uneccessary with this pedal.
I've used this pedal before for about 2 years. It was great for a beginner pedal. The action was very good. Flawless doubles and triples. Highly recommended starter.
I like it. I've had it since I started playing drums and it is still as responsive and fast as it was when I bought it (which isn't to say it was that responsive when I bought it). But I'm getting a pearl eliminator double so this one will be retired soon.
This is good pedal for a beginner, but I wouldn't recommend it for heavy playing or advanced level playing.
It's a decent pedal, if you play slow drums for rock or something like that then this is good. But if you're playing something fast like punk, metal, etc., it's not fast, but it's hard-hitting.
This is a pretty good pedal. I bought it because my other pedal had broken. I have been using it for about a year now. It is a good pedal..., exept when you play heavily the beater flies off i suggest getting a new beater. But overall good pedal.
