I have been using a single "Iron Cobra" Tama kick for years. I saw the price on this Yamaha, I was sceptical. It came packaged with its own zipper bag, heavy duty. The machining of this product is top quality. The "Direct Drive" mechanism is very responsive, sensative. There was a tiny amount of squeak, easily fixed with a shot of spray lubricant. This 'kick is AWSOME! dont hesitate to buy one before their gone!
When I received my FP-9415 the first thing I noticed was great packaging and solid craftsmanship. I changed out the stock beaters for the new trick beaters to get the feel I was looking for. Overall this pedal is quite adjustable and feels great slow or at speed. My only issue is the direct drive linkage has a bit of play at the pedal board, and tends to get loud (metal on metal squeaks) when doing double and triple strokes. I will play them until they fall apart. Cheers
I have been playing professionally for 40 plus years and this is by far the best pedal I have ever had. I have had them all, DW 9000, 500, Axis, Pearl Eliminator, Iron Cobra, everything Right out of the box, I left the factory settigs and it is smooth fast, powerful, and a dream come true. I play all styles and this pedal has it all! I also bought a double and I am going to buy another single just to rehearse with. "This is the pedal I have been waiting for"
After owning, playing and collecting bass drum pedals for over 40 years, I would have to say this is my all time favorite. It not only built like a tank and virtualy indestructable, it is by far, the fastest and most sensitive pedal on the market. I own both 2 single pedals and a 9415x double pedal and the only flaw is on the double pedal. The spurs on the slave side are way to short and don't work at all, even fully extended. I don't know how this slipped past the testers, guess they don't have thick plush padded carpeted homes in Japan. Replace the spurs (Easy Fix) on the double pedal and you have the best money can buy.
