These Zildjian Cymbal Mutes are perfect for my teaching studio - they have a great feel and are better than other mutes on the market.
Well, let me start off by saying that I got both these and the Sound Percussion Total Drum Set Prepack, and, between the two of them, they don't mute cymbals very well. These are well-made and work pretty well for smaller cymbals (such as my 8" Wuhan splash), but they are just not big enough for rides, crashes and chinas. My 21" Zildjian ZHT ride needs more surface coverage than these little pads because, even though they get rid of the initial ping really well, as I keep playing the low tones of the cymbal build up (and I've even tried it with 3 of them and a Sound Percussion Ride Pad on it).Don't even kid yourself by putting these on crashes or chinas because you can't sidestick them or else it still makes quite a bit of noise. I just rigged my own pads for my crashes and chinas out of egg-crate foam and workout floor pads and it works a lot better.Another thing that annoyed me is that sometimes when removing the pads they will leave some of the adhesive behind (Even though Zildjian says they won't).
