Comments about Zildjian Sizzle Rivets (100 Pack):

Bought a 2nd hand cymbal very cheap with rivet holes but no rivets, so to give it character again l bought a pack. The holes were a little too big, but the base did flair out to work ok. I did have a slight problem with the shaft bending, but learning how to strike to flair all worked out well.
So much better than the old chain !

Comments about Zildjian Sizzle Rivets (100 Pack):

High quality rivets that require a flaring tool to secure into the cymbal. I used a C clamp and concrete nail to flare the end and it worked fine.

Comments about Zildjian Sizzle Rivets (100 Pack):

There are other easier replacement rivets out there (i.e. split brass) but these are the Zildjian rivets as used by Zildjian at their factory. You will need a ball peen hammer, a punch, and a hard surface such as a real brick (as opposed to a cement fake brick) or a nice piece of plate steel, and a towel or two, perhaps even three.

Lay the cymbal on the towels. Lay the hole you are working on over the hard surface that is also covered by a towel. Place the rivet in the hole and with a punch tap on the open end of the rivet (the bottom of the rivet which is underneath the cymbal). After a bit of tapping and when a slight flange is established take your ball peen hammer and lightly fashion the flange so that the rivet will not come out of the hole.

It is a bit of an operation and much more difficult than the split brass rivets sold elsewhere but it is very easy. You must be very careful not to hit the cymbal with any of the tools you are using such as the punch and the hammer and ensure that you use enough towels so that the cymbal doesn't rest on any hard surface become scratched in the process.

I would recommend this to anyone with some mechanical dexterity otherwise I would recommend the split brass or that you take it to a shop and have them do virtually the same process. You can also visit the Zildjian website and they do take delivery and will install rivets at their factory for a small fee.

The professional Zildjian install is probably done with compressed air rivet guns and the flange would be mushroomed rather than hammered.
