In a selection of tonewoods with the Ibanez UK300T preamp system.

The EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele from Ibanez is a sweet-toned, nylon-stringed instrument in a choice of luxurious tonewoods and built to stand the test of time.

Built on the concert-style platform and size, the EW comes in 3 tonewood flavors:
Cocobolo top, back, and sides - cocobolo is a true rosewood and produces tones with excellent power and sustain.
Koa top, back, and sides - koa is beautifully grained wood and produces a very bright sound with perhaps less volume than spruce.
Spruce top, mahogany back and sides - spruce is the most common wood in guitar tops and, combined with mahogany, produces a bright, punchy tone.

The EW ukulele has a rosewood bridge and fretboard that help improve sustain. The chrome Grover open-gear tuners offer precision tuning and keep the ukulele in key.

Dressed in a natural low-gloss finish, and featuring a desirable abalone rosette around the soundhole, the concert uke's natural beauty shimmers through, making it a 4-string of sweet looks and tone, no matter which one you choose.

    Ibanez UK300T Preamp
The EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele is equipped with the UK-300T ukulele preamp, featuring a 2-band EQ for adjusting bass and treble. The preamp also includes a built-in onboard tuner to ensure stable performance every time you hit the stage.

The ukulele originated in 19th-century Hawaii. It gained great popularity in the U.S. during the early 20th century, and from there spread internationally. Ibanez ukuleles bring the rich, textured sounds of the islands to your fingertips.

Comments about Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

Was a little concerned when the box arrived damaged, but the uke survived in good condition. Beautiful tone and nice instrument. Does have a slight buzz on the first fret and other buyers had made comments regardng a buzz, but more pressure on the fret and it goes away. Bridge must be a little high. No other complaints and it's real beauty.

Comments about Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I love my new uke. The pre amp rocks, nice two band eq and volume control with a tuner. Sounds warm plugged in direct to the P.A. Easy to play, if you can play guitar you can play one of these babies. Very comfortable action. The only draw backs are the case, it's a tight fit and I'm a little worried about the zipper on the case scratching off the finish. Also there is a little fret buzz on the first string, but hardly noticable. Lots of fun for just sitting around the house and singing songs, also great for gigging at the local coffee shop. I highly recommend this product.

            Tried Twice, No Luck

            By Sunn Kram

            from Colorado

Comments about Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I would say that while the design of the Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele is fantastic, the manufacturing process is badly executed.

I ordered one after seeing the beautiful shape, nice woods, inlay, binding trim, strap-button style output jack and an active pickup system that's superior to the competition. I think Ibanez hit a home-run designing a great instrument with loads of functionality for the live performer.

However, the first one I received had a buzzing fret. I returned it and received back yet another with TWO buzzing frets. I believe the action was just set too low or the neck was warped back a little.

Everything else about the instrument certainly held true though. Its a pleasure to play as well as look at and it sounds wonderful.

I saw the one YouTube review worth watching on it and it is certainly accurate. The guy is obviously a dealer or collector and he said they are cheaply mass-produced in Indonesia and more often than not, you will receive a lemon.

If you've got the patience to keep returning them until one works or just hope to get lucky the first time, I highly recommend going for it. Personally, I gave up after the second one and moved on to a Kala Tenor that I'm really liking so far.
Ibanez needs to raise the price a bit on this model and improve quality control in production. Its a shame for such great design to go to waste.

            Meets expectations, fills the bill

            By James Wayman

            from California

Comments about Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I'm an active amateur guitarist with very little experience with the ukelele and certainly none with an amplified uke, but needed one for a piece with a show orchestra. This Ibanez looks good and plays well. Choices in this space seem limited and the Ibanez is a reasonable solution at a good price. The wood is very pretty and so I'd recommend the extra investment in a case as opposed to the nylon bag it comes with. Does indeed fit in a standard "concert uke" case.

            Ibanez Delights and Inspires Here!

            By Chris-JHgNL

            from Boston, MA

Comments about Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I own everything from Rickenbacker to Gibson to Paul Reed Smith to Taylor--the list goes on. I know my craft after more than 25 years of writing music, and I know quality when I feel it. This Ibanez ukulele passes. Interesting to me, the ukulele comes in different voices (soprano, tenor, etc.) and natural open tunings or keys, like harmonicas for instance. The ukulele nylon strings respond interestingly to steel guitar picks, even stone picks. I'm interested to see how it handles alternate tunings. In all, this instrument is well worth the buy, and you may find yourself reaching for this ukulele to write with, wondering why the hell the Taylor is still in its stand. So take a chance. This is a fine instrument, and a ceaseless, enjoyable time.
This is my second ukulele. The first I owned for a week, a soprano, but I traded it back in for an acoustic-electric, so I could compose and record with it. This Ibanez concert ukulele, a moderate step up in price from what I initially bought, had a broader neck, more substantial action, was a more solid machine overall, and boasted the more sonorous, serious sound that comes from a genuine instrument. This ukulele comes with serious gears, a bass and treble setting built in the instrument, along side a volume control and tuner. What other bells and whistles can you ask for? I tend to let the amp do the work when it comes to features, though I appreciate that this little instrument makes the effort to offer what my Takamine acoustic-electric guitar of 22 years does.
I chose the chocolate wood version, and its beautiful broad wood grain in two shades (top and sides), with its fine binding including a double pin-stripe, is a thing to behold; its a solid body with an excellent neck fitted perfectly. This is not a cheap toy. The gears are chrome and of good quality, make tuning easy--though I must say, I've never had to tune this instrument but on one string a half-step after long playing; it holds its tune wonderfully. A mounted stopbar tailpiece provides solid, low, and easy action across a well-fretted neck that rivals any regular sized guitar, and with a full sound, amped or not, the quality here, material and sound, is felt and is authentic, not hoped for. Ibanez even throws some multi-colored sea tones that circle the sound hole. In all, a well-crafted instrument.
There is real value here for a first timer. I've never run across a musician yet who started out by aspiring to master the ukulele or the mandolin. I'm not playing with Wayne Newton next week, are you? The ukulele is one of those instruments one wakes up to when a guitar player needs a new fun trip. Once you get past the reality that this instrument isn't a guitar and you have to play it on its terms, you adapt and quickly love it, and then it becomes a guitar again. The possibility for new songwriting is evident to oneself soon enough. The quality here is excellent, and this particular instrument is no toy passing itself off as an authentic musical vehicle. Pay more and maybe your quality goes up, but you can get a great time stopping right here. I don't consider this instrument a stepping stone for its quality, and won't buy another ukulele. The quality here surprizes and delights.

            Great Uke

            By Carrie Miannan

Comments about Ibanez EW Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

            Highly recommend this Ukulele.
This is a great Ukulele. It has a great tone and lots of volume unplugged. The onboard tuner is very convenient. I pick up this Uke and literally spend 8 seconds tuning and then start playing.
Action is great. Intonation is very good. Tuners are very precise. Inlay, binding, and finish is flawless.
