Upright Bass Slap Pickup

Comments about DiMarzio Acoustic Model For Acoustic Guitar and Bass:

I saw a review for using this with an upright, although I agree with the review if you were trying to use it to pick up the note on a bass - it's not really man enough for it - it does, however, work really well picking up the slap in a two pickup setup.
I use one of these on the body where the neck meets the body and - along with my Rich Barbera pickup system in the bridge - it really does the job! I find if you put it on the back of the fingerboard it is too 'clicky' and you get too much unwanted fingernoise but if you attach it to the top of the body at the front touching the underside of the neck heel you get a really hefty 'clunk' which is a mixture of a lot of slap but with some body note thrown in to warm it up a tad.

Comments about DiMarzio Acoustic Model For Acoustic Guitar and Bass:

I have owned this for over 10 years and am buying another one today. The putty has worked great, the sound is good BUT USE A PREAMP to get the most from it. I have used it on a dobro and mandolin for live performances.

      Great Pickup for the price

Comments about DiMarzio Acoustic Model For Acoustic Guitar and Bass:

So I just bought this for use on a twelve string guitar, and this sounds great. We also use it on a classical guitar when we are on accoustic tours. We have a show coming up in a few weeks and needed something that would work on both a classical and standard accoustic guitar.

This is a great pick up. We are about to purchase two more of these exact pick ups. We as a band couldn't be more pleased.

Comments about DiMarzio Acoustic Model For Acoustic Guitar and Bass:

The other review did not seem fair. I have used this pickup on a few guitars AND some foot percussion and a banjo and it works fine. I've had this little guy since 1996 so its VERY STURDY

      Upright bass

      By

      from Greenville, SC

Comments about DiMarzio Acoustic Model For Acoustic Guitar and Bass:

I bought this product with the hope that it would meet my needs for an upright bass. It probably could handle an acoustic bass, but not an upright. I tried a multitude of positions to try to get the tone and quality of sound I wanted. The tone was shallow and weak. I contacted the manufacturer for advice and they graciously responded. After much advice and effort, they agreed that this isn't an ideal application for an upright bass.
