OVERVIEW

Designed for maximum projection with channels for instrument and vocals.

With an angled-up wedge shape, the Acoustic AG120S acoustic guitar amp is designed to maximize projection. It features 2 - 60-watt power amps for 120 watts of true stereo output of your guitar and vocals. For warm, full frequency sound, the speaker cabinet features 2 - 8" coaxial speakers with tweeters for excellent mid- and low-frequency response as well as ultraclear, sparkling high-end.

Both channels on the Acoustic guitar amplifier have dual inputs, featuring 2 combination inputs”each input accepts a 1/4" unbalanced or XLR balanced input, so you can plug in a variety of instrument/microphone combinations. Individual channel volume controls for each input accommodate a variety of level needs, and peak indicators warn you when your signal is getting too hot.

3-band EQs with sweepable mids on each channel make it easy to get solid tones for 2 separate instruments or instruments on one channel and microphones on the other. Included on each channel is a selectable effects unit with 16 stereo effects, including reverbs, delays, and choruses.

Additionally, the rear panel features an effects loop for incorporating external effects with or without AG120S's built-in effects. The Acoustic guitar amp's master volume control gives you greater control over your overall output when used in conjunction with the channel volume controls.

Two weeks into using it, his acoustic amp meets every expectation I have for it. The features, particularly the two separate channels with four total combo inputs, and lines out for more sound, give flexibility that I did not find in another acoustic amp. The quality of sound, and the controls over the sound, are excellent. It seems durable, expect it will survive what I put it through, but time will tell that story.
Exceptional features. Two channels, each with two combo inputs (each input has a volume control), accommodates my guitar and keyboard in one channel, and two mics in the other channel. Very effective EQ's. Effects are excellent, greatly enhance the depth of sound of my instruments (Martin D-15-M, and a cheap keyboard). Even my mando with piezo pickup sounds very acoustic through this amp.

This amp has enough strength to project well in a small venue. Have not used the lines out yet, but the feature will be useful in larger venues.
As mentioned in other reviews, there is some white noise, and some fan noise. The noise is audible within a few feet of the amp when not playing, but not offensive. It does not interfere with the excellent sound quality when playing. Otherwise, quality is top shelf. For those who want an absolutely quiet amp, I suggest you demo the amp before buying,
Given the features, controls over sound, sound quality, and purchase price through MF ($382), this amp is an exceptional value.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I went thru two of these amps trying to get one that didn't have a terrible hum thru the speakers.Thankfully Musicians Friend was extremely patient and helpful in trying to come up with a solution for the problem. After exhausting all avenues and not being able to contact the manufacturer I returned it for a Fender Acoustasonic Jr DSP. Thanks to MF for all their help. You can't go wrong dealing with this company. Their technical support and customer service is top notch!!

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Overall a good value for the money. Cheaper than trying to get a PA system and a lot less hassle to set up.
A real deal for the money. It was a return and cabinet was damaged but the sounds is good and it works like new. The only problem is the loud humming from I guess the fan when you are not playing. When playing though the hum is not there. Good for a small room or venue. Vocals are pretty impressive too.
Overall the quality looks pretty good.
As I got this used as a return it was a really great deal, but would still be worth the advertised price and a good value at that.

Good product

By Julia Chacon

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I mentioned all the details in my ratings above, so to recap, I really do like this amp. Here are the main points:

Pros:
4 inputs (XLR & 1/4" compatible) HUGE PLUS
Great effects and easy to use
I can move it myself
1/8" input so I can use it with an iPod for teaching
Powerful and great features found only on more expensive amps

Cons:
Tips VERY easily
White noise from fan
Even though I can manage it it is pretty heavy.
No battery capability so it can't be used for remote venues.
The features are awesome. Great for acoustic musicians. I use it for flamenco guitar and singing (no pickups, we use XLR mics) and it has very true, quality sound. I like the various effects and that I can give more reverb to the guitar while keeping the singing clean. Haven't used the 4 inupts yet.
This amp has an audible fan and the speakers have a very low buzz even when the volume is at 0 and nothing is plugged in. You have to put your ear to the speaker to hear the buzz, but together with the fan it makes minor white noise when the amp is on - with or without mics/instruments plugged in. I can hear it easily from across the room. It sounds like a computer fan. The good thing is that the sound is stable and remains constant. In other words, it doesn't increase at all when you turn up the volume, but it is something you have to play over. This is the second Acoustic AG120 amp I've used and both have had the same thing. If you are looking for absolute silence when the amp is on you will be dissapointed. That said, the sound of the guitar over that white noise is very true and clean. If the fan were quieter it would be awesome.

Also, this amp tips VERY easily. It is hard to transport because it rolls around in my SUV. It would really suck to arrive to a gig and have it not work because it banged around in transport... or to have someone bump into it at a gig and have it roll over, possibly hitting a mic stand or something mid gig. Stability is an issue with this so be forewarned. I've placed it on a chair and the chair back stabilizes it.
This is the only amp I could find with so many features, 4 XLR/1/4" inputs and all the effects and levels. I love it's versatility. The only comprable amp I could find was by Ultrasound and it was out of my budget.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Fantastic
I've owned this particular amp for a couple of years and have found it to be very reliable. I use it for live shows and teaching and it sounds and works great. For the price it's the best thing on the market. It has two separate channels and two separate effects controls, one for each channel. It can get as loud as you need and you can also run it direct to the PA. I'm not a fan of the Taylor Expression System on my 314 but this amp actually makes it sound better. I'm also using a L.R. Baggs DI box now and that has made my Taylor sound even better. This is a very reliable piece of equipment and well built with lots of EQ options. No feedback problems either. Again, for the price, you can't go wrong. It's a great deal.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The Acoustic AG120S guitar amp is packed with features. The two channels, both with two inputs having their own volume controls, multi-band EQ, and per-channel effects allow multiple simultaneous instruments or mics. Plus a line-in for a music player and balanced/unbalanced stereo line-out connections. The amp can be used upright and sit back on its slanted base. I am very pleased with the amp. The only downside is excessive hum which will not be a problem in most performance venues.

I use this amp for solo gigs. I had the AG60 before this, and really like the extra headroom. Two issues - there is no storage for the power cord and it would be nice if there was a speaker stand adapter on the bottom. This is the only acoustic amp with 4 inputs, and two separate effects.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a very nice acoustic amp. I wont repeat all the features but basically 120 watts split into 4 channels with 2x10 speakers. there are four inputs. each input accepts a quarter inch jack and a speaker cable. there are digital effects which are shared among two channels. basically two sets of effects. each set for two channels. same set up for the tone control. there is a line out and also an input for your ipod etc.
Sound on this amp is really amazing. It is clear without any hint of mud. The tone controls are really quite useful and allow me to dial in the 'correct' sound. The amp is fairly loud and could definitely be used for a coffee house or smallish gig. vocals sound wonderful through the amp also
There is a background hum as other reviews have noted. It does not increase with increased volume. It is only notable when you are not playing and I do not consider it an issue. The line out also presents a bit of hum when turned up but is still useful. It sounds just wonderful through my carvin p.a.
These two items are my only negatives. I still think this amp is fabulous and one of the best acoustic amps I have heard. To my ear much better than fenders offering. Although I would not pay the full price for this amp due to the issues noted I would grab it as a used item or sale item as this would represent a good value

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp replaced an Acoustasonic SFX 2 that I retired after 8years. The signature sound of my music was easily dialed in with the AG 120S . I sent back Fender's Acoustasonic 150 as it was a un-usable toy compared to the Acoustic AG120s As a forty + year veteran of Pro music I was very impressed with this Acoustic AG 120s. I play three to four three hour gigs every week and this amp dropped "Perfectly" into place the first night with about five minutes of "Q"ing. Exceptional quality and tone for the price, this is a professional grade tool for the working musician. Thank you Musicians Friend for making this amp and the Acoustic line of amps available.
I would very definitely recommend this amp to others:)

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp sounds great! It was very easy to dial in a great sound with both my guitar and vocal mic. And yes this amp does have phantom power for condenser mics. I could not find anything in the description nor the manual about phantom power and I even emailed Acoustic support and received a reply which said "I don't think this amp has phantom power". But I plugged my Akg c4000 in and it works and sounds great. There is no switch to turn it of or on, it just works. Also, there is some very minor white noise when the amp is idle, but it is not unacceptable to me. I have many amps of all shapes and sizes and any amp that is made for live sound usually has a slight sound if you get right up to it with your ear, but who does that? If you are recording, I suggest you just mic up the instrument or go through a good acoustic preamp. This amp was designed for performance, not recording studio. Whatever small noise you hear when the room is completely quiet is not even noticeable at all as soon as you start playing and the sound quality is superb. If you are using this for performing in small venues, it is a great choice for versatility and sound quality.
I'm giving it 4 stars due to Acoustic support who didn't even know the amp has phantom power. The amp really deserves 5 stars IMHO.

As mentioned in other reviews the thing has a hum coming out of it even with all volumes set at zero. Since it would be used at acoustic venues where the background clutter may not be able to hide the sound, it could be a real issue. So I returned it and tried another one-same- and gave up on ag120g. IF it wasn't so loud of a hum, this would be a perfect amp for an acoustic duo such as I am in.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I have used this for a couple of years now with an acoustic duo. Acoustic guitar sounds great through it and vocals sound even better through it. It is absolutely the first time I have ever seen/heard a guitar amp that could make vocals sound good...really...crisp and clean with fairly decent effects. You can actually run two vocals and two instruments with very little mudiness. And it is capable of decent volume without distortion. It starts getting lost in anything larger than small coffee houses, patios or deck parties. It does hum but I sorta expect that considering the power output and capabilities. I've been around live hum so much that I guess I've grown accustomed to that in most situations. Once you start playing it's not noticeable. It definitely has that clear sound I've always heard coming out of equipment made by Acoustic

This setup is perfect for the musician who needs power in a small package. I've been playing guitar for years now and was looking for a portable way to play for small get togethers and be heard over the crowds. It produces an excellent sound. The effects are really good. by selecting you can enhance songs in different ways. A soloist or duet can stand out on their own using a setup like this . One thing I really like about it is easy to use and highly portable. I can set this up quickly and start playing. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I wanted this Amp for the two, full function channels with balanced or unbalanced inputs as I sometimes need two mics and two guitars. I knew from other reviews that it had a hum. It proved to be worse than I hoped and appears to be in the master volume. If you keep the master down and the individual volume up it's less noticeable. Then I also suspected that my semi-acoustic electric might not work too well in this Amp. This proved to be true. It was fuzzy and distorted. I was prepared with my direct box that a friend recommended. I connected it using a balanced input. Not only did it help the electric, but it completely eliminated the hum. As long as it's plugged in to any port, all ports are good. Now I use the direct box with either the electric or acoustic and everything works just fine.

Comments about AG120S Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

It does have a lot of background noise... but great value for the money, great functionality and can be used for voice too.
