I was looking for a decent amp with two channels so I could plug my Ovation Applause AE-128 and a microphone in and practice at a home. I wanted it to be a good looking box as it is to be used in my TV room. Listed below were my selection criteria:
1) Wanted enough power to take on the road to gig with.
2) Angled so I would not have to buy a separate stand.
3) Special effects chorus, reverb, etc.
4) Input for CD/Mp3 and headphone jack.

The AG 30 30W blew away my expectations by a long shot! I'm absolutely in love with this amp and it's full sound and I haven't dared push the volume more than half way.

Quality with limits

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Overall Great sound and fantastic value. However, why do they think that you would ever want the same effects and EQ on both channels at the same time? If I am plugging a guitar in one channel and a vocal mic in the other, I do not want the same echo or chorus on my voice as I may want on the guitar. That is a problem which is only solved by using the smallest amount of reverb or echo on both just for some depth. Same goes with the EQ, I want more lows on my voice, but don't want them boosted on the guitar. It would be nice if they at least provided a switch on each channel to be able to turn the effects loop off or on a channel.

I love this thing!

By Aaron Krott

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I am a pretty critical product user so to give anything 10's is not a norm for me. After owning and using this amplifier, I don't know how I could rate it any differently. I absolutely love to grab my Taylor 410CE-L3, plop down into my easy chair, plug in a Microphone and just play and sing away. Being able to listed to my vocals and strumming with this amplifier has helped me become a better player and vocalist.
Unbelievable sound for the money on this little Acoustic amplifier. I was searching for an amplifier that I could use at home for practicing. Being able to plug a microphone and a my Taylor in at the same time to rehearse is great. The effects sound great and it takes little effort to get a vocal mic or guitar to sound great. I played several acoustic amplifiers the day I picked this baby up. Some that were known in the industry as the top performers. Guess what, this amplifier sounded better than all of them and the price tag was less than half in some cases. I love the warmth that Acoustic was able to design into this amp. I would say my only wish is that they would have thrown an XLR direct out on this model. You have to jump up to the AG60 to get that feature.
It is not too hard to determine that this Amplifier is built to last. This is one heavy duty little monster. I don't have to worry when I take it with me if it will come back the same way it left. The exterior of the unit is constructed in a way that will not only make sure it stays together but that it will look good as well. Kudos to Acoustic on making this affordable Amplifier feel like a much more expensive one.
Value is this Amplifiers middle name....scratch that, It probably is its first name. I am very budget conscious but I am also an audiophile so things have to sound good. Don't take my word for it, go plug into this amplifier and try it out. Compare it to the other amps out there that are 2-3x more expensive and see how it sounds. I wasn't even ready to buy yet but when I heard how sweet this thing sounded, I had to have it. It was the price that sealed the deal. A great sounding amplifier with these features for the price....are you kidding me! The Behringer stuff seems to be feature loaded at great prices but I have been very disappointed with quality and sound on some of their items. This Acoustic amp is the full package....Sound, Quality and Features at a great price....this is the definition of value!

Great Bang for Your Buck

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned the AG30 for 2 years and it has an amazing sound and features for its price range. The only downside I've found with this amp is that (and you've heard it repeated in other reviews) the effects affect both inputs which is why I marked it .5 down on features. I will also say that the effects options are very well put together although I don't use them when I sing with it. I use effects pedals to get close to the same sound. It has come in very useful in practice and also on stage. It fills the room quite nicely with (like has been mentioned in other reviews) very clean sound quality. I couldn't be happier with this amp. Over two years it has taken hits in door ways and car rides over endless miles. The controls are sturdy and don't feel like they're going to break any time soon. Over all, I'm very pleased with the craftsmanship that has gone into the amp.

A fine, inexpensive amp

By Jason Lewis

from Iowa

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I used to have a SWR California Blonde. It was pretty great, but it weighed a ton. Sold it before I left NYC.I recently bought an Acoustic AG30. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I really think it's fine. Since I have a novel that has music as well, I usually do a set that has me reading and playing and I could be in a coffee shop, club, bookstore, whatever. So I wanted something small that would take a mic and the guitar. The bose or Fishman towers would be great, but not worth the output of $ right now. I want to make some money and I still have to pay off my AJ.I did a show a couple weeks ago with the AG30/M1A/AJ combo and the results were pretty fantastic. The thing you have to remember about amps like this is that they are not really like a Twin or a Vox or anything. They are about clean gain, not color and personality. THe AG30 really did the job as an onstage monitor/DI feeder. If I were to take it on tour, I'd want two. These cheaper amps from China suffer for cheap materials everywhere but the guts.If you're looking for a reasonable amp for light gigging/practice, I'd check it out.

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I never leave solid 5s...most products are lucky to get past a 3 star rating, but I have to say this is an AMAZING amp. While it is slightly annoying that it has two inputs that are both linked to the same effects setting, it more than easily makes up for it with the array of different effects you can add. The sound is so crisp and clear and for the price; it makes even my cheapest acoustic sing. I have used it at smaller venues and it sounds amazing live - I am sure it could handle medium sized venues easily. I am thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend this amp. If that doesn't convince you, I originally ordered this for a beginner friend, but it sounded so good that I ordered one and now use it for recording in my home studio. You will not regret this purchase.

Great A/E Amp

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

So, I picked this up recently after owning the AG60 for about one day. First off...The main differences between this one and it's big brother is the AG60 you can get 4 separate volumes, tones, eq, and effects at a time. With this one, you can separate the volume, but if you have an effect on channel one, you will also have an effect on channel two. So if you have a mic plugged in and a guitar, the effects will be on both. If that's a problem, get the AG60 for that reason only. Volume wise, this thing cranks, I have had it at half volume and it is really powerful, full sounding, and much louder than you would ever need for a small venue, to a medium sized venue. The AG60 starts to break up/peak out at about the same volume as this one, so it's pointless to have it for the extra wattage when it will sound terrible at a higher volume. The effects sound AMAZING. They don't sound processed or fake, they sound really very natural. I used some pedals to compare Boss effects v.s. the onboard effects, and the onboard beat them handsdown. The only problem is you cannot switch them on and off with your foot.I tested the Marshall 2x10's, the Kustom 60 watter, and the fender tweed cover and this one beats them price wise, and sound wise by a long shot. This has everything...enough power/volume, effects, control over your tone, and angle. If I had 1,000 to spend on an acoustic electric amp, I would still go with this one over anything else hands down.

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I purchased this Amp for my Ovation Guitar. This Amp sounds perfect. The tones, and the High , Mids and Lows are great. It has a range of effects, and they all sound great with the Ovation Applause guitar. The only gripe I have with this Amp is it two channels to use two guitars or to plug in a Mic whichever you want, however the settings do not allow you to play the guitar with effects and the Mic without the effects. And channel one has some buzz when anything is plugged into it. Now I am no singer so to me it is no big deal, however for a singer , player, it maybe a issue. But that slight buzz can be annoying.I just use channel two and not worry about it. Maybe just a loose wire I do not know , but other than that little thing , Everything else about this Amp is Perfect. The Ovation guitar and this Amp together create an awesome array of tones, absolutely beautiful and a joy to play and hear. Love it and Recommend it highly.

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I needed this amp for some home practice, but it easily has enough guts and quality for a moderate sized gig. If you have similar needs, you can't go wrong with this amp.
I really like the two inputs, either which will take the quarter inch plug or the XLR. The only drawback to the features is that you can't separate the effects, but I don't find that to be an issue at all since I use it for home practice. Also, to hear anything through the headphone jack, I have found that the volume on the amp needs to be turned up a lot.
The first time I heard my guitar through this amp I was really impressed with the beautiful accurate reproduction of acoustic sound from my Martin dx1 six string guitar. I'm sure that having the Fishman Matrix pickup helped, but I also use it with a 12- string Epiphone which is amplified by a Seymour Duncan "Woody" pickup. The amp continues to impress.
All things considered, I don't know where you can beat the value of this in any other acoustic amp.

Acoustic AG30

By Anonymous

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I don't understand why the Behringer ACX450 gets a 4.5 star. I bought the ACX450 last year (2009)and returned to MF because the sound quality is below expectation. I waited for a while and decided to get another acoustic amp. I researched and read reviews here but due to the bad experience with Behringer, I didn't pull the trigger. One day, I tried out this AG30 in a local GC with a Taylor and was completely blown away. At that time, I asked the rep is the good sound from the Taylor or from the amp. He said probably both. I went home thinking about it over and over again. I decided against ordering from MF online due to two reasons - (1) I did the sound test in GC so I think they deserve my business. (2) Last year when I bought the Behringer from MF, there was literally no additional packaging over original box. It was just a UPS shipping label over the Amp's box.Anyway, I went back to GC the next day and bought it. I have never been happier with this product. I plugged the Rogue grand concert (a $75 guitar from MF from last year's sale) and it sounds better than anything I have played. The AG30 has definitely been tuned for acoustic guitar. I then plugged the mic and my vocal has been great. This amp is amazing. You have to listen to the sound to believe it. I have just purchased a condenser mic XML990 from MF and my vocal coming out from this combination is top quality. This amp beats the Fender acoustic amp big time, period. The only downside is there is no phantom power at the XLR connection. If this amp is broken, I will buy 5 more, no sweat. The AG30 is the best buy so far in my life.

Comments about AG30 30W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I really like this amp. I'm stoked about being able to carry my guitar and this amp into a club or wherever. No more lugging around multiple pieces of gear. It's light but not too light, 30-40 pound range. The tone is buttery and nice once you get it dialed in right.

Very pleased.

My only complaint would be about volume, though it has all you would ever need for small venues.

Once again, VERY clean sound and looks on the thing. It uses a studio style rubbery speaker instead of the scratchy cones typical of instrument/mic amps. This lends its self to a very warm, desirable sound. but does limit slightly it's volume capacity.

All in a all, a brilliant piece.

I searched long and hard for a speaker to compliment my voice and this is a wonderful investment. I can even stick a MP3 Player in there and sing karaoke style without a live instrument. And for the price? What could beat this lovely rich sound? Was singing in an open air farmers market and they asked me to turn it down! And I was just a bit below half volume. This baby gets loud! Perfect volume for Jazz, Folk, Singer/Songwriter type genres.
