Bought for my 9 yr old son for his birthday, on the advice of Musicians Friend (who have given consistently great advice in the past) and his bass teacher. Great sound, plenty loud, very versatile. In my opinion a great value. I also bought the warranty, with encouragement from MF, and afterward mentioned that to his teacher who thought it was a great idea (especially for an enthusiastic 9 year old).

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

Really Great Bass Amp. Very musical I can't dial in a bad setting. On the heavy side but I'll deal with it in exchange for the power and quality sound. Highly recommended and great value for the money. I mean it's basically the cost of a pedal.... Also was very surprised with the quality distortion on board. Just for fun I plugged in a Resonator tuned in G and it sounded awesome as well. You can't go wrong with this Amp. And Led Zeppelin used Acoustic Bass Amplifiers!!

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

The B100 is a good amp for me. I needed something small and simple to use that sounds good with my Jazz Bass. This unit is loud enough to handle the drummers volume level in our practice room without using even half of the amp's possible volume. The EQ on the amp is great and makes it easy to dial in a good tone quickly. It even adds a tube like compression when set right. I like having so much control over the mid range frequencies. This lets me get a nice deep tone while maintaining the growl of the bridge pickup. Using the volume and gain knobs together allows you to dial in overdrive/distortion or clean up the signal as much as you want. You can also bypass the EQ and direct input a preamp device such as a SanAmp. There are active and passive inputs as well. This is the most user friendly and best sounding 100w amp I've played. It is a well built amp and looks very nice. I've had mine for over 4 years with no problems at all. My only complaint would be that it is heavy. This isn't a big deal for me because I leave it in the practice room all the time. When I play out I use a Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI. However if you need portability you may find it's weight is more than you want to lug around.

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

Nice amp at a great price. Sounds nice for both my fretless bass guitar and upright electric. At least for this 70 year old bass player, a little heavy and 100W is a little weak for larger venues. Great for the home studio, small clubs, and rehearsals but keep finding volume turned up way past half to get the volume I want and need. I play jazz, not rock, so volume shouldn't be an issue but I'm still turned way up. Rock, you need to be in the system. So my suggestion is to keep that in mind. Still gets the job done and no complaints from fellow musicians so must be OK. Maybe they all think "...jeez that guy is really loud..!" Ya never know. Good luck all. Break a leg.

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I purchased the Acoustic B100MkII to replace an aging Peavey TNT 130, my initial reaction to the sound of the B100mkII was not very good. At low volume the amp sounded ok, but at higher volume there was a fluttering sound coming out of the speaker box. It was driving me crazy, so I pulled the 15" speaker out. This amp is a sealed cab, no ports. I noticed a dime size hole where the wires for the speaker come through, with the cab sealed it is forcing all the air through this dime size hole. I put a strip of gorilla tape over the hole and put more insulation on the inside top and bottom of the speaker box. Problem solved, now the B100MKII thumps like it should. While I had the speaker out the cab is made with MDF, it has internal bracing and it looks like it is all glued together. There is sound insulation on the sides and back but not the top and bottom?? The magnet on the speaker looked about a 56oz with the positive and negative wire leads soldered on the speaker tabs.
My bass guitar is a peavey foundation with passive pickups. I put the tone control knobs at the 12:00 position and the gain knob all the way clockwise and slowly raised the volume knob to about the 1:00 position and the clip light never came on. This is more volume than I will ever use at rehersal or at a small club. I settled with the tone conrol knobs at about the 2 to 3 oclock position. This gave a good solid punch and good low end. Plus it has a XLR with a level knob for external power amps or mixing board use. I did not try the overdrive channel, Im to old school to use so other reviewers are going to have to fill that in. The control knobs feel solid but I did have to give all the screws that hold the chasis and chrome corners extra turns with a philips head screwdriver. This amp is made in China and I think they rush the building of these amps. The tone is better than my Peavey TNT 130, but time will tell if the reliability is as good as my 30 year old USA made Peavey TNT.

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

Good sound with my P-Bass. Decent EQ - easy to dial in a good sound. Has aux and headphone, and XLR out - things I looked for specifically. I think it's a little underpowered for more than practice or rehearsal/light gigs with moderate volume needs. Sounds really good at low to moderate volumes. I cranked it to hear how it was at gig volume and I wasn't impressed. Distorted too much and/or the speaker didn't seem to handle it well. I haven't actually played with it with drums, yet, so I can't be sure - maybe it can be EQ'ed to work. I'm sure the XLR out could help in a pinch, too. It's also really heavy for only being 100watts. Fits ok in my car trunk, but is more to move around than I had hoped - not really a portable amp. I got it on stupid deal, and I honestly wouldn't pay full price otherwise. I think there are better options available in the price/watt range that are more portable. Works ok for me currently, and in that sense worth what I paid. But I might need something else in the future if I gig more.

I bought this amp to go along with an Acoustic B30. Since having the B100 I haven't even played through the B30. I'll probably use the B100 as my main amp for practice, etc.

I use the amp for my Yamaha DTX-500K Electronic Drum kit and at low volume the amp sounds really good but from 75% volume on up,the speaker produces a mid-range distortion/vibration that sounds terrible. I would not recommend using this amp with an Electronic Drum Kit unless its for practice only or only use on-stage "If" you use the Direct Out to send the signal to the Main mixing board. This amp/speaker combination produces distortion/vibration at high volume levels~!

I admit that I was skeptical at first since this amp featured so much for the low price, but now that I've played it for a while, I am blown away. Excellent build quality, great sound, professional features found on the more expensive models. Yes, its only 100 watts but its plenty loud and the line out allows you to PA it directly for larger venues. The B100MKII is the best bang for the buck out there...

I purchased this for my home studio, it works fine for the bass parts I use it for. Sometimes with a Fender Jazz Bass and other times miking an upright bass always miked with a Shure SM57 near the center of the cone. I think it sounds better that recording it direct to the box.

Since getting this amp, I have used it for in home studio recordings and also live gigs. Amp sounds great! Lots of tone options! Simply can not beat this amp for the price from Musicians Friend! The only negative thing I can say and this is just because I have a bad back is that is heavy!!! I did not think it would be so substantial! That said, everything otherwise more than makes up for the weight. It is easy to use, all the controls make perfect sense. No mysteries trying to get great sound out of the amp. Plenty of volume for small to medium sized gigs. It can easily be miced or wired to direct out for bigger gigs. I like the fact that it is from a really cool company that has some history. I was looking at other amps but happy I came across this one! Bottom line... Get this one before they are gone!

This is a great amp for the studio and also for live gigs. I love the EQ functions, and the attack is very smooth -- ideal for my style of playing.

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

Great Combo Bass Amp. Has everything needed for playing small clubs. Even playing a guitar through the overdrive channel it sounds great. Tight, small, portable and excellent sound/tone quality. Playing a Fender P-Bass and a Rickenbacker 4001 through it, the 15 inch speaker works nice and has a full range. One would think that for the low price there would be problems, but this amp is worth much more than that.

I was amazed at the tone versus sound volume this unit can produce. And the warranty is above all the rest.

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I am without question a novice player, but I can tell this is a great amp. It's got power, it's easy to use and it was extremely affordable. The only problem I've had is portability; it gets heavy even on a short trip. I tried putting casters on it but haven't figured out the best way to effectively attach them. Also some musician friends advised against it because you have to drill into the cabinet, which they said could ruin the acoustics. But other than transport, I love this thing. Get it while you can.

A great amp so far. I haven't had a chance to push it to hard yet, but so far seems to be quite nice for rehearsal with guitar and drums. Nice sound!
