AER

Small, smart, and surprisingly loud.

The AER Alpha is a compact combo amp for acoustic instruments. It has one channel with 2 individual inputs that allow parallel use of instrument and microphone, even though the instrument is the main focus. Inputs each have their own gain knob. Birch plywood cabinet provides great tone projection and is road tough. Dynamic controlled 40 Watts RMS and the 8" twin-cone speaker system give perfect performance at all sound pressure levels. Onboard reverb, external effects loop and headphone out.

The Alpha amplifier defines the starting point of serious acoustic amplification at AER. Based on the success and the experience with the Compact 60 they have developed an even smaller, lightweight model that has no difficulties living up to the rigors of the road. Amazingly reduced, without losing what is essential for superb performance - the Alpha is a full size member of the AER product family. Open sounding and quick in response, this guitar amp masters different ranges and is not afraid of bigger instruments.

Effects

The AER Alpha has an integrated (internal) digital reverb effect on board. The return control determines the intensity of the effect (as far to the left as possible means no effect). Furthermore, a supplementary effect device can be connected (external effect). For this purpose, use the sockets send and return at the rear of Alpha to connect the external device (send to the input, return from the output of the external effect). The intensity will then be set by the controls of external effect device. A standard double foot switch can be connected to the footswitch socket on the rear of the amp with a stereo cable. This switch can be used to turn the internal and external effects on and off.

Comments about AER Alpha 40W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Don't need to point out this is expensive, and for an AER it is the LEAST expensive available. But this is a quality piece of gear, light, powerful and warm. I "A/B'd" it against an Acoustisonic, and though I like the Acoustisonic very much, felt the AER just sounded more musical- more articulation in the notes, warmer. This was mostly with fingerstyle pieces, but strumming sounded good too. I hooked in a nylon guitar with pickup, nice sound as well. PLENTY of power by the way, good bass. Hint: register the amp on-line for an extra year on your warranty- 3 years instead of the standard 2! It was a pleasant surprise.

AER - THE BEST

Comments about AER Alpha 40W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

If you're looking for an amp that reproduces your acoustic instrument without adding too much EQ, THIS IS IT!I play a wonderful Charis Acoustic guitar and, except for running it direct into a sound system, I never found an amp that didn't destroy it's beautiful sound. Well never until I bought this amp.Unlike so many other acoustic amps, that are so over-processed, The Alpha has just what is necessary to enhance your instruments natural sound. Now don't let the small size fool you, this amp sound big, real big and full. The on board reverb is beautiful. Try it. You will be amazed.

Lots of Power in a small package

By Ned Rebel

from East Coast, DC area

Comments about AER Alpha 40W 1x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned this for 6 years. I use it for acoustic and jazz guitar and occasionally for keys...(when no keyboard amp is available.) It is light and small and has all of the 40 watts advertised. Clean and warm at the same time. This is really the best quality amp that I have ever owned for the money I paid. It can be used for jazz with your choice of hollowbody electric as well as acoustic. I really don't know why this hasn't replaced the polytone mini brute for this purpose. To give this amp 4 stars when one has only tried it in the store is a bit weak. I have owned it and have used it for over 4 years in Afghanistan and now one year in Iraq, on-stage and in my room. Highest marks for this little gem.

I don't own this amp, but I played it when I was buying a Gibson SJ-200 in New York and the little amp sounds amazing, very powerfull for a 40W Combo, It's expensive but very professional!
