This amp has a great blend of old and new school tone. Think Ampeg meets Eden. I'm completely comfortable using it on any type gig. BIG POWER for 500watts. Simple controls and excellent workmanship. Made in USA! Could use some rubber feet to stand on it's side ala GK but that's small potatoes. It's a winner and a keeper!

I have been playing the Aguilar AG 500SC head for about a year now. I absolutely love it. I love it's simplicity. It really trims away the fat and only has the knobs you NEED. It has a killer direct out, which can be sent pre or post EQ to the house. Quiet, clean and powerful. Sound men used to always to tell me the direct out on my GK was noisy and buzzy. While I was happy enough with the tone of my GK head most of the time, this was like trading up from a Honda Accord to a BMW. I use the Aguilar through a GK 2x10 and a 1x15. The CLARITY, BOTTOM, PUNCH, and SHEER VOLUME/POWER are outstanding. We played on a HUGE stage recently and i turned the output up to around halfway (6 O'Clock) and it was CRANKING out CLEAN DEEP BASS!!! I require both extreme POWER and at times quiet subtlety from my bass sounds and this DELIVERS. I use a Boss TU-2 Tuner, of course, and a BBE Sonic Stomp/Sonic MAximizer pedal, and my tone is AMAZING. Then I threw the Aguilar into an SKB shallow 2-space rack and it is good to go!!! I LOVE IT!!! IT CRANKS, delivers AGGRESSIVE or BEAUTIFUL SOFT tones, and weighs very little. Until I have a road crew to lug around a huge amp, I will stick with this!!! And be THRILLED with it.

This amp is reliable, light weight, and super powerful! Great in the studio because being solid state eliminates cooling fan noise, and you can crank up the volume without having to have it plugged into speakers (no overload damage). Not wild about the midrange in this amp... it colors the signal too much for my taste. Killer amp, though!

I have been playing for 40 years and I have never played through anything as articulate! The range this amp covers is phenominal. I also use Aguilar bottoms. Depending on the size gig. You cannot beat the sound, rich highs and deep lows!Love 'em!

I've had this amp for about a week now, and it sits on top of 2 GS112s. This amp thumps, no doubt about it. It's easy to carry, and even easier to dial in a great tone. You can't go wrong with this amp, great for practice or gigging. BUY ONE!
