Comments about Aguilar SL 112 1x12 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

the cabinet is light, but I wish they could make it smaller in size.

I use Aguilar Tone Hammer 350, and everything is working fine

Comments about Aguilar SL 112 1x12 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

These cabs are great. I use 2 of them with the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 amp and I could not be happier. I've played 5 and 6 string basses through that set up and the tone is clear and accurate. When I first got these, I thought they were bass-shy, but I moved them away from the corner I had them in and eureka! They are full-range speakers though, so don't think that they're muddy or boomy. And when you pick up the box, you'll think they're empty or toys, but neither is the case. The weight- 25lbs- still amazes me everytime I pick them up.

The only (minor) complaints I have with them is that the handles are on the sides, but there's no rubber feet on the other side for setting them down to open/close car trunks, doors, etc. The optional covers are expensive, but have kept them looking brand new, so money well spent. And they only have 1 speakon jack on the back, so you can't daisychain them (using speakons anyways- there's two 1/4" jacks)- I'd love to get 2 more and an Aguilar DB751 amp for a modular super rig.

I thought the look of them was kind of gimmicky, but in real life they're classy and unique looking, and they've held up well, although I'm very careful with my gear and like I said, I have the padded covers. It is a cloth grille on the front though, so watch your singer's mic stand swinging. And they are expensive, but they are Made In The USA, and have USA made Eminence drivers in them, and the price of neodymium speakers has gone up quite a bit in the last few years (they often qualify for the 15% promos though). And they are professional quality- you get what you pay for.

I'm very happy with my purchase of these speakers and how they pair with the Tone Hammer 500 amp. I've seen comparisons with the Aguilar DB 112 saying they are fuller sounding and have more present mids, but they also weigh twice as much. I'm thrilled that I can sling my amp and bass gig bag over my shoulder and carry one of these in each hand and load in/out in one trip - have to make a second trip for the beer though ;-) I don't know how these would work for tuned down metal, but for rock, blues, country, jazz, etc a pair of these are all you'll need.

Comments about Aguilar SL 112 1x12 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

I like this amp for its light weight. My SWR Goliath sounds much better. A lot better. Really a lot better. It also weights 65 lbs. Unless you've got roadies, it's impossible to move it. So I needed something for rehearsals that was not a 20-50 Watt practice amp that could come close to the sound of the SWR. This amp does that. And it weighs a phenomenal 21 lbs. But it is freaking expensive. Too expensive, imho, for its modest bottom.
