      Does the job for me

Comments about Aguilar TLC Compressor Bass Effects Pedal:

I A/Bed this pedal with the EBS in my home recording "studio" for a day and wound up going w/ the Aguilar. Both are 9 volters, which was one of my requirements. This was a more transparent compressor, and the availability of separate THRESHOLD and SLOPE controls ( not available on EBS ) just seemed to work better for me. There were some levels of compression I was able to get w/ the Aguilar that I couldn't get with the EBS' one control.

Some reviews elsewhere have stated the ATTACK control ( 10ms - 100ms ) doesn't seem to do much. It is indeed subtle compared to the other controls. I was able to visually see a difference in the attack time on recorded tracks in some situations. But again, very subtle.
Feature wise the only additional thing would have been a way to tell when the compressor is kicking in, i.e. a separate light, or the main light that changes intensity. I find calibrating a compressor by ear next to impossible given the preferred setting is often just on the threshold of kicking in only with the highest notes.

The workaround is to record the bass signal with a tool like Audacity (which is what I do home recording with anyway) and calibrate the pedal settings that way. And, in the picture scheme of things that is probably a more accurate way to do than a tiny flickering light would be anyway.
      Build quality is solid.

9 volt battery has a sliding door which kept popping open when you carry the pedal .. UNTIL I found out you can tighten the little screw. SO that was user error.

User instruction manual is pretty darn worthless so be prepared to figure it out on your own. The instructions refer you to website for sample settings, which turns out just to be some videos of endorsers holding their pedals.

      Fanastic value - Superior Performance

Comments about Aguilar TLC Compressor Bass Effects Pedal:

I have been working with compressors for years and this device is far better that what I have tried in the past. I used Trace Elliot for years, switched to Ashdown and lately used EBS for a couple of years. This wins hands downs. I bought two I like them so much for my large and small pedal board. Go for it... You will not be disappointed. Levels out the volume of all you notes and gives you great sustain. Christos
