I've had the pleasure of using this amplifier in a community theater setting, in a house that seats about 1000. I've got the EQ knobs all dialed to 12:00, and it sounds really great. The bass I'm using has a 3-band EQ, with the bass turned slightly higher and the mids slightly down. It's got a ton of volume and is warm and full. Couldn't ask for more from an amp in that setting. I like it and recommend it.

It seems that this is a good quality ampeg product. But it is most definatly not. I have owned this amp for a year and a half now and it has died on me 4 times. I have had to take it to a service center to have it fixed and have no amp for months at a time, only to get it back for one week before it dies again. And i am not abusing the amp either as it has only left my basement twice. THe tone is at best mediocre. It is really dry sounding and horrible for slap. You can get a great jamerson or JPJ tone out of it with a pbas. The greatest thing about this amp is its portability. i can take it pretty much anywhere with ease, definatly better than carrying around a 212! But i would rather have a quality and reliable product than a portable one. Ampeg's quality has gone downhill for some reason. Just save yourself some grief and buy elsewhere.

Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
Got this amp for church about 3 years ago, and in that time, have had it repaired TWICE. First time was for the tuner emitting a low beep constantly (and pitches while playing). After a couple months, same problem PLUS overall power kept cutting in/out. Finally had the repair guys cut the tuner from the signal chain & fixed the power issues which was a bad power cable connection & grounding problem.
The amp works fine now, but it doesn't get that Ampeg breakup that I always wanted. The Gain does almost nothing for it. It does get loud enough, but no dirt. If you want a very clean sound or want good warmth for practice, this is your amp... After you send it to shop...
Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
I understand that the bass amp was used but when i read that it is in good condition - meaning: only noticeable surface scratches but PERFECT sound , that is what i was expecting. Unfortunately, i received the amp in quite excellent surface condition but the speaker was blown. Every time i give the amp some volume the sound gets messed up. Unfortunate case of trusting the quality description given on the site...
Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
I personaally bought this amp used about 6 months or so ago, and have never had a single problem with it, it is great to jam out with friends or just play by yourself. I have never had any issues and i feel for all you guys for it dying within a month, that did not happen for me. I think it is a great piece of equipment
Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
Great sounding amp, easy to transport, and use. My only complaint it that i've had to re- mount the rubber feet several times, because of the cheap screws used to install them, and when i received the amp, i found nearly every fastener loose on the cabinet, i retightened all the loose hardware making sure not to strip the board. these loose fasteners could contribute to undesired rattles. But aside from that it's a great amp.
I got tired of lugging my old and very hevy Harke rig, so i needed a good smaller bass amp for smaller venues. A friend had a BA 115 HP and i tried it out, It blew me away! So i ordered one and been using it almost exclusively for over a year, every weekend. It also looks good along side my vintage B-15 N .

After trying out two at local stores (both had problems of low volume, even cranked to 10 on master volume and gain. I assumed they just happened to be duds. I ordered one anyway, banking on the Ampeg name and reputation. Speaker buzzes, and even though RATED at 220 watts, cranked to 10, sounds pitiful. Not loud enough to feel the vibration. My old, beat up Fender BXR 200-watt sounds about twice as loud. VERY disappointed in Ampeg quality. Maybe others out there lucked out with good ones, but this is the third in a row I've tried, so that tells me that this line of amps has a problem. Just based on my limited experience with the BA115HP... I will never trust Ampeg again.
Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
Left my old amp in a friends care and he broke it, received this as a replacement. I play in a local blues/alt rock band with a powerhouse drummer and a few jazz combos throughout the city; this thing just could not deliver for very long... Its got a very sweet tone but I think ampeg tried putting too much power in such a small component and when played at the levels needed for gigging it would be shaking all over the place. Connected to a mix system you get an irritating hiss. About 2 weeks after having the amp, the speaker shorted out and made a noise comparable to a grass weed eater. I was still within my 30 days at guitar center so I traded it in for a fender rumble 150, just what I needed. :) Not for gigging musicians thats for sure...

I have beaten the crap out of this thing after buying used 2 years ago. I have had no problems with it other than the direct-line out not working. would like to see a line out possibility to go to a cabinet.
Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
I needed a good, loud bass amp and decided to spend a little extra money to buy this Ampeg. The amp sounded AWESOME to begin with but after a few months of playing once a week it broke down. I can play at really low volume but if I turn it up at all it smokes and smells like melted plastic. No plans to buy another Ampeg again
Comments about Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp:
Just like the last reviewer mine died after one month. Ever since Ampeg started building these in China their amps have really suffered in quality and reliability. Save yourself the grief and buy a mesa boogie. They cost more but are made in the US but they are worth it. I am using an M3 Carbine combo which replaced my Ampeg.
