Comments about Ampeg BA300/115 1 x 15 Bass Combo:

Got this amp used, and I have to say, the sound is simply amazing. As another reviewer pointed out, you have to work with the controls to get the tones you want. As for this "buzz at low frequencies", all I can say is I've yet to hear anything bad out of it.

Powerful, clean, amazing tone control, you name it, this amp has it. The "Style" knob works amazingly well! Same with the on-board EQ. They actually make a massive difference, as opposed to some amps where the tone controls offer +/- 3db at most.

The tube pre-amp offers all the warmth that you would expect from a tube amp, and the built-in D.I. has all the features of a professional stand-alone DI.

Overall, I couldn't be more impressed with this amp.

Not quite ready for Prime Time

By BassMan Mills

Comments about Ampeg BA300/115 1 x 15 Bass Combo:

Like a couple other reviewers here I am deeply disapointed with this combo. I too had a nasty rattle?buzz at certain frequencies. I took the unit apart literally and applied sound dampning materials etc. to no avail. Decent tone when GENTLY used. Tube pre is nice, but it went out of my house two days later. MY "cheap" Acoustic rigs kills it. What can i say? Stay away from the Ampeg combos. That said, the cheaper BA115 I picked up a coule years ago kicked butt. Go figure.

I bought it. I like it.

Comments about Ampeg BA300/115 1 x 15 Bass Combo:

I like this amp. I'm a guitar player but I needed a bass rig to have around. Get a bunch of guitaar guys together... someone needs to play bass.I wanted something in a bass amp that could keep up with the drums as well as be heard among the guitar amps (mostly tube powered combos. Think hot rod deluxe, vox ac 30 ish). The driver tube gives it a little something in the smooth dept. It's not too heavy so I like the fact I can move it around.I took it to a school gym/auditorium. Big room. Fun jam. It did not get lost and did exactly what I expected it to do.It actually sounds much better in a bigger room. Lets the thing breath a little.I'm pleased.

Not Ampeg's best

By GaryDaBassman

Comments about Ampeg BA300/115 1 x 15 Bass Combo:

I pre-ordered this amp months before it hit the stores. Very disappointed to hear how badly it buzzed on the lower frequencies. Brought it back, got another. Same problem, only worse. Cheaply made. Bought a different amp. Recommend you look elsewhere.

You'll regret it

By GaryDaBassman

Comments about Ampeg BA300/115 1 x 15 Bass Combo:

I purchased a BA300/115 combo amp in December 2008. Within 20 minutes of playing through it, it began resonating and buzzing loudly on certain notes. Returned it and got another. Same problem, but worse. The amplifier vibrates in the cabinet making a loud buzz at the connection. Holding my foot down on the amp while playing was the only way to solve the problem. The tone quality drops off and gets muddy on the low E, F and F#. The control knobs and power switch feel very cheap, not at all what I'm used to in an Ampeg product. This unit is being manufactured overseas to produce it cheaply, and it shows. Returned the unit for a refund. I'm very disappointed, because on paper this looked like exactly what I was looking for.........
