The cab is great in smaller clubs and if powered correctly it will impress many people, i am a bassist and i liked to be heard and Ampeg is the way to go with any style of amp, combo, or cab.
This cabinet does have it's own sound but if full, rich bass tone, light weight and transparent highs are what you're after, this is the cab for you! It sounds much fuller than it's size would suggest! I'd put it up against many 4x10 cabs and actually think it sounds better than my Flite 4x10! And it weighs almost nothing. Very portable and easy to carry and use! I highly recommend this cabinet to anyone looking for great bass tone, excellent power handling capabilities, and easy use!
I am a working pro with years of experience. This cab is all you need; the sound-man will make sure everyone hears you. It sounds great, is super light weight, and it takes up very little space on stage. I use it with a Mesa Walkabout and it sounds amazing. My tone with this set up is very natural and uncolored. The highs are also never harsh. The Mesa sounds better than the PB250 head and this cab sounds better than the 2X12 version. Buy it now!
I use it for bass, electric and acoustic 6-strings guitars. Great all-around value. I've owned the big and heavy 8-10" speaker single 18" cabs, Ampeg SVT, Acoustic 360, Traynor, etc. and this little guy can really boom the bass. I use a 400 watt power amp to drive it through a Line 6 Bass POD. There was no manual with the unit but just a phone call to Ampeg opened up a great technical resource.
Right now I'm playing a 5 string Yahama with Bartolini p/u's through a GK 400rb III. The PB210H Portacab is a perfect fit for me. I am one of the bass players for a large church in South Orange County California. This cabinet allows me to strike a balance between, the intimate soft levels, and louder punchier levels that are often associated with todays modern Christian worship tunes! The PB210H is clean, articulate, and versatile enough for whatever sound you're looking for! FrankOrange County California
