I think this is a good buy. If you are a working musician then it is definitely worth looking into. If you just do it for fun or just getting started. I would make sure if this is the type of money you want to spend. I am happy with the fat sound and clarity I get. It can really fill a room. I'm always being told to turn it down and I am not running it a even half volume. So, fat sound, light weight and good tone.
It you are looking for a fat sound, then this the speaker for you. The first time I used it, the sound almost scared me. I was not always a fan of 4x10's, I always stuck with 15's and 18's, but I am impressed by the fat sound from this rig.
I have played through a lot of speakers and I have to say this is one of the best speakers so far. I play in a popular Reggae band and this speaker has paid for itself over and over. In clubs where we have to provide our own sound it stands on it's own without have to DI through the board.
For the value, I think it is a bit pricey, but everything is over priced these days and it will pay for itself if you are a working musician. The sound is fat inside or outside and for Reggae that is just what you need. Ampeg has always had a impressive sound and this speaker is right up there.

I bought this enclosure. I hesitated because of all the new NEO speaker technology that is out making cabinets so much lighter (and louder). However, I wanted the classic sound and Ampeg name and the reviews on the cabinet were great. The sound on the cabinet is tremendous. It is a one cabinet setup. Due to the low tuning, you do not need to add a 15 inch speaker to go with the 4-10s. The porting works great and it has enough low end to replace a full stack. In fact, this cabinet sounds better than the Ampeg 8x10 because it is tuned lower and is not midrange heavy like the 8x10. This sounds like a 4x10 with a 1x15 and has the Ampeg "Round Sound." Truly a classic. No complaints on the sound or power. However, unless you are a kid thinking you are going to be a rock star, an actual rock star who has others to move your equipment, or are planning on leaving this in a studio or bar, it is simply too darn heavy. At 110 pounds, with only kickback casters, it is truly a backbreaker. If you have stairs on a load-in or where you play it at home, hauling it is outright dangerous unless you have two people. The least that Ampeg could have done is include 4 wheels and not make this a kickback like to the 8x10. That wouldn't have matters for the stairs though. I really wanted to keep this, but at this point in my playing career, I'm trying to make my band life easier, not harder. I'm going for a cabinet with NEO speakers where I can get the same power and sound for less than half the weight.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:
I gave it nine cause it weighs a bit but once you start playing live the stage shakes the bass sounds beautiful everyone in the band loves it even i get compliments from the sound staff and the public in the shows.
Strong cab deep space towards back gives great bass reflex great deep fat and big sound. It has casters , handle bar on th back for easy transportation, handles are top quality and well positioned to make easy to handle.
It sounds Big , Fat and Deep sound it has three front port holes in the front it makes the stage shakes. It has a horn with attenuator that gives sweet highs I use it with another classic Fender Jazzbass.
It is worth every dollar its gonna last for years.

Its a bit heavy but worth it you should match the cab with an amp with 300watts to 400watts to protect the speakers. Iwish Musicians friend would ship more equipment to Puerto Rico we all love music . Hail hail rockn roll.
The cabinet is very well constructed it has big wheels and a hand rail on the back for easy transportation .
It sounds big ,fat and deep.
I bought in condition B its new its beautiful.

I'm working at a resort in the mountains out west. We have a different band each week. In the past 21 weeks I've seen guitarists bringing Marshall, Vox, Fender, Divided by 13 - you name it - they bring it. But only one bass cab arrives each Monday; this one. Some are old, some new. They all are consistantly 'mighty fine' and the sound engineer loves them. A few are using the heavy all-tube amps but most are using the newer ss amps. In my opinion, if you are paying bills playing bass, you want this cab.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:
Just returned from a concert in downtown Orlando. Bassist was using this with SS Ampeg amp. It sounded good from 100 yards, better from 70 yards, but was muddy around 50 yeards out (asphalt surface-no grass; at that point is was a PA issue) Once I got within 25 feet of the stage the actual sound was from this monster, not the PA. Sound was clean and even, and loud-you bet! Your band mates will love having this on the stage. This wooden box will churn your butter.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:
I have had this cab since 2003 and every time I play through it I realize it is just the best 4x10 cab out there to date. Before buying this I tested the Ampeg 4x10,the 6x10HLF, the 8x10 and this 4x10HLF. This cab just has so much bass, but at the same time nice mids and treble range because of the cabs design and 3 ports. I like it cause I want to have power in the smallest package possible, and this joker can handle lots of power. I can't wait to get home just to be with my Ampeg. AMPEG is #1.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:
I have been playing for 30 years. I'm an old rocker who's been through a ton of equipment over the years but like a fine wine I either got smarter or just struck it right with my Ampeg 410HLF. I play a 5-string G&L L2500 (American Made)and my ASAT 4-string through this cabinet powered by my Galien Krueger 710RB. We mostly play weddings, corporate affaires now. But boy do I wish this rig was cabinet was around back in the day. Portable,Unbelievable 5th string lows with clean clear High end. It is simply her best rig I'v ever had. No matter what the room size or gig I am as smooth and low as I want to be but then I have that "Huge" kick and powerful sound when we need to rock out. Just love playing throughb it and cna't imagine ever buying another rig EVER!
Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:
I put a Line 6 Lowdown HD 750 on it and I was literally blown away. You remember the commercial where the guy in his chair is getting blown away by the air his stereo was pushing? This cabinet actually does that, no special effects required!Every bass player on this list is recommending this cab for a reason! Listen to your brethren and Get one today.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:
It is no accident that there are so many posts favoring the SVT-HLF. All of the descriptions given: "clear, clean, deep ,full-range, punch..."are spot on. I bought this cab, took it right to the gig and powered it with my Little MarkIII. My G&L NEVER sounded so FAT. Go buy this bass cab. You won't be sorry! The only slight draw-back has nothing to do with the sound. It is about the "towel rack": Suggestion to product development: Make the handles adjustable, just like the click-and-lock PA stands. Then we won't have to look like wing-men on a bob-sled team when we move it. 8>)
