This sets up easily, even with the road case I have it in, and I use one of 3 bass heads with it, the SVT3 Pro, Hartke 3500, Amepeg PB250.
Bought about 5 or 6 years ago, and still have it. I've used it in different genres of music, from R & B, Oldie, Salsa, Jazz, but primarily now with my country band,in the trailer, where it stays since it is so heavy. I have 3 other Ampegs that are smailler, and lighter that I use with other bands that I play in, and I can move them by myself.

I bought this enclosure. I hesitated because of all the new NEO speaker technology that is out making cabinets so much lighter (and louder). However, I wanted the classic sound and Ampeg name and the reviews on the cabinet were great. The sound on the cabinet is tremendous. It is a one cabinet setup. Due to the low tuning, you do not need to add a 15 inch speaker to go with the 4-10s. The porting works great and it has enough low end to replace a full stack. In fact, this cabinet sounds better than the Ampeg 8x10 because it is tuned lower and is not midrange heavy like the 8x10. This sounds like a 4x10 with a 1x15 and has the Ampeg "Round Sound." Truly a classic. No complaints on the sound or power. However, unless you are a kid thinking you are going to be a rock star, an actual rock star who has others to move your equipment, or are planning on leaving this in a studio or bar, it is simply too darn heavy. At 110 pounds, with only kickback casters, it is truly a backbreaker. If you have stairs on a load-in or where you play it at home, hauling it is outright dangerous unless you have two people. The least that Ampeg could have done is include 4 wheels and not make this a kickback like to the 8x10. That wouldn't have matters for the stairs though. I really wanted to keep this, but at this point in my playing career, I'm trying to make my band life easier, not harder. I'm going for a cabinet with NEO speakers where I can get the same power and sound for less than half the weight.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I have used every brand and style of bass rig available in every size venue (over 6,000 live shows) and have never been let down by Ampeg (heads or cabinets). I started off years ago with a 6- 10 rig( Jensons) and switched to 10's with 18's and multiple 15 inch Thiele cabs for more low end. Here we are over 30 years later and I am back to 6-10's again. But with the SVT-410HLF I am pushing as much clean clear low end (6 string bass) as I did with 18 inch rigs and only carrying 2 cabinets (the 410 and a powered 1200 watt 2-10). The handle while very sturdy is a waste of space though, unless you are 4 feet tall- I removed it.

Love this cab

By Merlin

from Detroit, MI

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I have used this cab regularly now for about 6 months. I don't have any complaints about it... I also have the SVT810 and have compared the two in live performance... bottom line is, in a small environment like a basement or a small club, this 410 is great! Awesome low-end... deeper than my 810. But in a little larger environment, I prefer the tone of the 810, non-ported cab. When I push the 410HLF in that situation, it seems to get loose on the low-end and lose some mid tones. The heads I have powered each with are the SVT classic and the SVT-3pro.

Best buy for the money

By Dennis McCurine

from Michigan

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I think this is a good buy. If you are a working musician then it is definitely worth looking into. If you just do it for fun or just getting started. I would make sure if this is the type of money you want to spend. I am happy with the fat sound and clarity I get. It can really fill a room. I'm always being told to turn it down and I am not running it a even half volume. So, fat sound, light weight and good tone.
It you are looking for a fat sound, then this the speaker for you. The first time I used it, the sound almost scared me. I was not always a fan of 4x10's, I always stuck with 15's and 18's, but I am impressed by the fat sound from this rig.
I have played through a lot of speakers and I have to say this is one of the best speakers so far. I play in a popular Reggae band and this speaker has paid for itself over and over. In clubs where we have to provide our own sound it stands on it's own without have to DI through the board.
For the value, I think it is a bit pricey, but everything is over priced these days and it will pay for itself if you are a working musician. The sound is fat inside or outside and for Reggae that is just what you need. Ampeg has always had a impressive sound and this speaker is right up there.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I gave it nine cause it weighs a bit but once you start playing live the stage shakes the bass sounds beautiful everyone in the band loves it even i get compliments from the sound staff and the public in the shows.
Strong cab deep space towards back gives great bass reflex great deep fat and big sound. It has casters , handle bar on th back for easy transportation, handles are top quality and well positioned to make easy to handle.
It sounds Big , Fat and Deep sound it has three front port holes in the front it makes the stage shakes. It has a horn with attenuator that gives sweet highs I use it with another classic Fender Jazzbass.
It is worth every dollar its gonna last for years.

The best ever!!!!

By Baseman59

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I have been playing for 30 years. I'm an old rocker who's been through a ton of equipment over the years but like a fine wine I either got smarter or just struck it right with my Ampeg 410HLF. I play a 5-string G&L L2500 (American Made)and my ASAT 4-string through this cabinet powered by my Galien Krueger 710RB. We mostly play weddings, corporate affaires now. But boy do I wish this rig was cabinet was around back in the day. Portable,Unbelievable 5th string lows with clean clear High end. It is simply her best rig I'v ever had. No matter what the room size or gig I am as smooth and low as I want to be but then I have that "Huge" kick and powerful sound when we need to rock out. Just love playing throughb it and cna't imagine ever buying another rig EVER!

SVT-410HLF is THE bass cab

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

It is no accident that there are so many posts favoring the SVT-HLF. All of the descriptions given: "clear, clean, deep ,full-range, punch..."are spot on. I bought this cab, took it right to the gig and powered it with my Little MarkIII. My G&L NEVER sounded so FAT. Go buy this bass cab. You won't be sorry! The only slight draw-back has nothing to do with the sound. It is about the "towel rack": Suggestion to product development: Make the handles adjustable, just like the click-and-lock PA stands. Then we won't have to look like wing-men on a bob-sled team when we move it. 8>)

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I'm working at a resort in the mountains out west. We have a different band each week. In the past 21 weeks I've seen guitarists bringing Marshall, Vox, Fender, Divided by 13 - you name it - they bring it. But only one bass cab arrives each Monday; this one. Some are old, some new. They all are consistantly 'mighty fine' and the sound engineer loves them. A few are using the heavy all-tube amps but most are using the newer ss amps. In my opinion, if you are paying bills playing bass, you want this cab.

There is NO better 4X10 enclosure made!!

By JCD-QKSw5

from Central Florida

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

After owning Hartke, Fender,Peavy and other assorted "average" cabs, I auditioned this Ampeg. I compared it to other 4X10's by Aguilar, David Eden, and even a very nice 3X10 Demeter cab. The Ampeg impressed me the most. Tons of low end, cutting, detailed mids and brilliant highs ( if you want them). I use this cab with an Ampeg SVT-CL (300w-all tube)and it sounds so good. The hype you read about Ampeg is all true. It's crazy good stuff.

Well worth the wait.....

By Rick Vercoe

from Colchester, VT

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

It took 2 months to get this cabinet into my hands. With in 30 minutes of powering up the SVT6Pro head to this mini monster I knew I had made the correct purchase. My Tobias 5 string sounds fantastic all the way down to an open "B"... and yet it has crisp highs to punch through the pops! My Jazz has been brought back to life through this set up! To be honest, when I first saw this cabinet I was worried about it's small size.... needless to say, I now wonder why anyone would need an 8-10. It's been 3 months now... between the head and the cabinet, I have yet to find a style of music it can not handle well. Dino, the local Ampeg rep was very helpful supplying me info and assuring me this was the unit I would love.

MAYBE THE BEST BASS CABINET FOR ALL AROUND USE!

By Stan

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I've been using the Ampeg SVT-410HLF cabinet exclusively for the past two years and have been well pleased with its performance in all the venues we've played, inside and out. My setup consists of Fender Jazz basses (mainly a modified Geddy Lee model) through a Bassman 400H head mated with this cabinet. I have never been happier with my sound than I am now, something that has not gone unnoticed by my bandmates and other musicians. Nothing is more satisfying than another musician complimenting you on your bass sound after a performance.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I have had this cab since 2003 and every time I play through it I realize it is just the best 4x10 cab out there to date. Before buying this I tested the Ampeg 4x10,the 6x10HLF, the 8x10 and this 4x10HLF. This cab just has so much bass, but at the same time nice mids and treble range because of the cabs design and 3 ports. I like it cause I want to have power in the smallest package possible, and this joker can handle lots of power. I can't wait to get home just to be with my Ampeg. AMPEG is #1.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

Just returned from a concert in downtown Orlando. Bassist was using this with SS Ampeg amp. It sounded good from 100 yards, better from 70 yards, but was muddy around 50 yeards out (asphalt surface-no grass; at that point is was a PA issue) Once I got within 25 feet of the stage the actual sound was from this monster, not the PA. Sound was clean and even, and loud-you bet! Your band mates will love having this on the stage. This wooden box will churn your butter.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

This Ampeg SVT 410 HLF is the perfect combination for my Ampeg 450 Watt Classic Bass Head! The tweeter can be adjusted easily and the clarity of tone is impeccable. I play through a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and a Musicman Stingray Bass and they both sound phenomenal through this rig! My band plays southern rock and roll and the Ampeg just kicks it up another notch closer to the classic sound the crowd wants to hear with they request "FREEBIRD!"

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I purchased an SVT Classic tube amp head several months ago and I was using another "unamed" 4x10 cab (until I could replace it). I finally purchased the SVT 410HLF...AND WOW, what a freakin difference the cab made. The SVT Classic tube head and this cab are a fantastic combination for most gigs. You won't muddy up the low end anymore with this cab, assuming your amp head is worthy!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

I've played through a lot of "house rigs" through the years and none have the sheer volume of this cab across such a wide frequency range, it's amazing for it's size. Yeah some are louder, but I can never get the full spectrum of volume I can with this cab. I play through it with an ampeg svt350 and it's a perfect match in my non-professional opinion.

I bought the cab used from a friend of mine. I would guess it was about 4 years old and had been ran hard when I bought it from him in 2008. Now 5 years later and probably 150 gigs that have had this amp riding in the back of pickups for the first couple years, and bouncing around in an enclosed trialer since, it's NEVER missed a beat. I've played it in 30-40*F outside weather, and 110*F with 100% humidity, rain as well. It loves the abuse. We aren't easy on it when we move it around either. It looks like a pile after years of abuse but it sounds like a dream. I LOVE this cab!!

    5 String Bliss

    By Saucy Jack 64

    from Indiana

    See all my reviews

Comments about Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet:

About two years ago I purchased a five string bass and decided to upgrade to an amplifier/cabinet combination to do the five string sonic justice. After doing some research I decided to purchase the 410HLF. I'm powering the cab with a Tech 21 Sansamp RBI preamp into a SWR Workingpro 400 and I have to say this cab is everything I wanted and more. Ampeg did a steller job on the design here because the HLF is amazingly tight for a cabinet that goes this low (28 Hz.) No flabbiness or mud at all on the low B string, just an awe-inspiring bone-rattling rush of BASS that is sure to turn heads. Great sounding for just about any style of music and with the horn engaged is most responsive when switching from fingerstyle to slap/pop stuff. Construction-wise the cabinet is as sturdy as they come but rolling the thing using the "towel bar" on the rear is a bit akward unless you stand about 4'5" The side handles work nicely though and my only (slight) beef is with the flimsy cloth speaker cover which offers little protection but is probably used to save weight. Don't let the weight and dimensions fool you though, this cab is quite easy to load/unload and packing this much tone and power, you will gladly road this puppy to the gig. I'm convinced that I'm underpowering this thing and am thinking of moving up to an amp in the 700 watt range. Annoy your neighborhood and buy it.

This is the best bass cab I have ever used. It is a simple setup 4 10 inch speakers and it has 3 ports for full deep bass. This is not a cab for the weak, it is a man size cab. If you read it you will knows it is 110lbs so don't get it if your not ready to move it. But I have yet to find a better sounding cab and I have had it since 2003.I play gospel that covers all styles and this cab can do it all really well. AMPEG #1
