Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

I own this one. It is an excellent amp, I am just not sure it is worth the price. I leave everything flat eq, and that seems to be the best tone. I used to own a Behringer 4500 and to compare them I don't actually hear a huge difference, so I think I may sell this and go back to a smaller head. This one is quite heavy and fragile. A little bump hurts the tubes, and then replacement is needed. I have a shock rack mount around it which causes the weight to be way more, but then also it is protected. I love tube tone for guitar, but bass it doesn't really seem worth the price.

      AMpeg SVT-6PRO

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

I tried all of the Ampeg heads. I was using the B2RE for a long time and I needed more power. This head has a lot more power and great tone.

      Niiiicccceeee!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

After years without my ?70s era SVT and 2) 8-10 cabinets, I spent several months researching what could best match the Ampeg tube sound for the money. This SVT 6 PRO is the closest, best for the money, head I could find. Connected to a Bergantino 6-10 cab it rocks and clean as a whistle at full throttle. My Rickenbacker was stolen about the same time I sold my tube rig and have been missing that unique sound forever. Now it?s back! All my instruments sound awesome through it and it has all the power you will ever need. True the fan is a bit loud; just don?t use it for recordings.

      By Pricey but worth it.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

The tone I have been missing! I had a Behringer head before and while it was great, this thing far surpasses that head. Truly an amp for any genera. You can go from crystal clear to dirty over driven SVT sounds with just a few knob turns. It is built like a tank but if you treat it well I think you should get many years of dependable service out of it. I hope I never have to buy another one.

      best of the hybrid amps

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

After years of using an SVT-3Pro, I needed some more juice for bigger gigs. I tried basically every Ampeg amp, as well as Edens and GKs. I landed on this guy. The 1100 watt MOSFET power amp gives virtually limitless headroom, and the 6 tubes contained within (paired with the parametric EQ) gave it an edge over the 4-Pro in my eyes. What a wonderful amp!

I got this head this summer, I was confused if getting the SVT 4 pro or this one, and after I checked it out at a Music Store, I knew this one was the one!!! It is terrific, the sound is just great, it has everything a bass player is expecting in a bass head to have!!!! simply perfect!!! I've been using it to practice with my SVT-810AV and it sounds extremely great!!! a must have for bass players!!!

      Need more head room?

      By Double R Superstarr

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

I've owned this amp for some five months now. I have played out and around with it. 1st off the three down sides. This head is heavy especially when in a rack. This head does have a loud fan, though it will only be noticable if not playing with the rest of a band. Lastly the only real complaint from me is there is not 2 ohm availbility. Not that you would use it much anyways but I like having that possiblity. The Ups are that you have an enormous amount of head room, You can push this thing and the building will be rumbling with a good cabinet. I have used this amp in many practices and have never been drowned out. Even when I was playing metal with two guitarists with 4x12 and 1x15 warhead stack each. No matter how loud they and the drummer where I could still be heard clear as day. It has all the line out, tuner out, compression and other the other features you can read about. But what I want to stress about this about is the unlimited potential to dial in any tone that you can want. The semi-parametric eq is very hard to take advantage of at 1st, but when you figure it out it allows for just the right sound you are looking for. Let me make another comment. I also own and get great tone out of an ampeg 3 pro but to get the tone I have to max every thing to it's full potential. With this head you can make drastic tonal change with a very slight turn of the knobs, which is what makes it so versatile. 1,100 watts is more than most will ever need. You either have to EQing this thing wrong or be beating the stuff out of your bass at extreme volume to get this amp to clip. I play a 96 Warwick proline 6 string. A spector euro neck through. A Les pual bass and have ran fender, music man, lakeland and countless other basses through this head all sound amazing. I have used my ampeg svt 8x10e, ampeg 4x10 hlf, and avatar 4x10 and many other cabs to it. It's an amazing peice of equipment. Very good tube tone with no large power tube cost.Plus solid state reliability. Buy it and feel the building shake.

      SIMPLY PERFECT!

      By Tracii

      from Dresden, Germany

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

I use the Ampeg SVT-6 PRO with a Gibson Thunderbird and an Ampeg SVT-810 cab. Very straightforward and sounds better and better the louder it gets. The onboard compressor is awesome, very transparent. Be aware: This is a no-frills head! No bi-amping, no 2-ohm load, no switchable EQ, no switchable effects loop - if you need any of that, go buy another amp! Thanks to the tube voltage control, the SVT-6 is the closest you'll get to an all tube sound without an all tube power section.

      Excellent head!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

I bought this guy used to replace my aging 3-PRO, and fortunately landed one of the last American-made ones. And it was money well spent! The main reason I chose this over the 4-PRO is it's range of tonal capability. It definitely has it's raw, beastly SVT tones, but unlike the other amps, it's capable of a much more nuanced, sophisticated sound when you want it. It's got 100% tube tone, but with the punch and reliability of a MOSFET power section. In all, I couldn't be happier with this amp, and it will most likely be the last amp I buy for quite some time!

      Its a beast!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-6PRO 1100 Watt Tube/Solid State Bass Head:

Love the tone!!! You can be classic ampeg one second and Modern the next. Tube voltage control will blow your mind. Once you figure out the parametic Eq You are dialed. Every bassist looking for a powerfull clear tone should buy one of these and it is great to run in the studio straigt ou the DI line in the back. Buy this you wont be disapointed. It sounds great with all speaker types from JBL's to SWR's. Although I am currently running it to 2 8 ohm cabs so I can get the full 1100 watts live.
