A pedal for guitar with real tubes and 3 seperate channels.

The AMT SS-11 3-Channel Dual Tube Guitar Preamp boasts minimum size with maximum functionality for full tube overdrive using the highest quality components. The SS-11 is brother to the SS-20, but designed to be different. While the SS-20 is the more aggressive "METAL" pedal, the SS-11 was intended and manufactured for that famous CLASSIC tube driven over saturated guitar tone that eveyone loves and craves.

Description of SS-11 Channels:
LEAD channel provides thick, viscous sound for playing both chunky rhythm parts and singing solos with excellent presence. TREBLE SHIFT toggle takes your lead sound into bright mode, similar to the good old "Treble Booster" pedals of the 80's that guitarists used to enhance their solos.

OVERDRIVE channel features a more open structure of the sound. This is the SS-11's sweet spot, offering tubey and saturated sound, much like that of the classic tube amps of the 70's and 80's. A wide range of sensitivity adjustment results in the sound starting from light crunch to thick and bright lead channel-like sound with real tube tone. If you're looking for something other than that dull sounding solid-state OD or TS clone sound, then this is it.

CLEAN channel focuses on crystal clarity clean sound. Low, Mid, and High controls for tweaking your sound; as well as and TREBLE SHIFT toggle for adjusting high end response.

Features

  • Fully tube-based 4 - stage overdrive channel with DUAL TUBE design (2 x 12AX7 or 2 x 6Н2П-ЕВ tubes) with high-voltage anode voltage (+300 V)
  • Three separate channels: CLEAN / OVERDRIVE / LEAD
  • Individual gain sensitivity and output level controls for clean and crunch/lead channels
  • TREBLE SHIFT toggle switch to enter bright mode for that added punch of high end
  • FX LOOP for external effects
  • OUTPUT jack for connecting to both specialized guitar amplifiers with a standard level of 0 dB (GUITAR AMP mode) and a CAB SIM MIXER out with a standard level of 10dB and a guitar cabinet simulation
  • The preamp outputs are equipped with sophisticated solid-state buffers
  • SS-11 incorporates new field-effect transistor-based guitar cabinet impulse response emulator prossessing
  • Improved naturalness of sound when connected to line input
  • Special attention was paid to transistors anode power quality: preamp uses a specially designed high-voltage transformer minimizing the penetration of impulse noises into amplified signal

Get awesome tube sound without replacing your amp. Order today.

Comments about AMT Electronics SS-11 3-Channel Dual Tube Guitar Preamp:

Ok, I reviewed this previously. But since then I thought I would switch tubes to see if it made the sound better. It didn't. THis pedal seems to be biased towards the 6n2p-ev tubes that come in it. Please note: There is internal jumpers that must be moved if you switch to 12ax7 standard tubes. Well, the BEST sound from the preamp for me, is with the stock tubes. Best treble response, and best high gain crunch and character. I tried Mesa and JJ tubes that were hotter and they muddied the tone up...not much...but enough for me to put the stock tubes back in. Great preamp! I ordered 8 spare tubes form a Russian tube store just to have backups of these specific tubes. Enjoy!

Comments about AMT Electronics SS-11 3-Channel Dual Tube Guitar Preamp:

Owned many preamps over the years. I keep trying to go all digital, but keeping having to go back to tubes. A side-by-side with this and my Eleven Rack proved that. Tubes deliver...and still reign supreme. I use this as my preamp..turn off the "amp" in my rack and only use some effects. Yes, its very good. I think it stands on its own in sound and distortion. Its not a Mesa recto sound......no, this things has a grinding sound of its own to stand on. Nice job! Only complaint..it needs a foot switch jack....so I could switch it from my control board all in one click. But then, the SS-10 has that..but cost a lot more. Other than that...Its great.

Comments about AMT Electronics SS-11 3-Channel Dual Tube Guitar Preamp:

let me start this review by saying this is NOT a distortion pedal... it is a preamp. that being said, it should be running directly to a poweramp (or the return section of your effects loop). the price seems pretty steep for a small box right? wrong. this thing sounds every bit like a nice marshall. the crunch channel has the throatiness and gain of a jcm 800 and the lead channel is smoother, reminds me of a plexy or a jmp with more gain. im running this preamp to the return section of my valveking halfstack with a ts9, mxr 10 band EQ, crybaby wah, EHX small clone, and a boss ns2. having the preamp driven by the ts9 and the eq tweaked with the 10 band eq sounds much better and gives you much more versatility than say a mesa dual rec or a peavey 6505 for a fraction of the price. the preamp alone is simply amazing.. the clean channel is probably the best feature and that isnt even what my primary use for this unit is. the crunch and lead channels are extremely warm and cut through a mix much better than any comparibly priced unit. i own an american deluxe strat with hotrails in every slot, a schecter hellraiser, esp ec-1000, and a gibson V with EMG 81/85. 3 of my guitars has the same pickups, and this unit brings out the tonal characteristics of each guitar. really makes playing much more enjoyable since every night i play or every track i record i can hand pick the sound i want. being a professional musician means you are broke, and you need to use what you have to do your job. i couldnt be happier with this unit because it has not only saved me a lot of money but it satisfied me more than any single amplifier could. do yourself a favor and buy this unit with what ever effects you prefer. im planning on upgrading my valveking to a 2 channel poweramp and running 2 2x12 cabinets sterio with my rocktron g300 processor. my co guitar player paid $3500 for his rig. i paid $1600 altogether. and my sound oblitterates his.

Comments about AMT Electronics SS-11 3-Channel Dual Tube Guitar Preamp:

I bought the modern voicing version of this online, and tried it by going to the FX return of my Peavey Valveking. Right of the bat, particularly with the crunch and lead tones, I was smirking after playing a few power chords. The bass response out of this unit is very tight, and easily outpaces the preamp section of my amp. The crunch reminds me of the standard plexi-type sounds, and the lead sort of soudns half way between a Mesa and a modern Marshall (or maybe a heavily modified Marshall ciruit as so many botique guys do). Usually I'm a bit picky and tend to second guess myself with distortion sounds. I like the crunch and pick attack at higher gains but then the lows get too boomy. The most amazing thing from this preamp is that I pretty much got my ideal distortion sound with all the EQ knobs at noon, which for me is simply incredible. They seem to have a wide sweep too so it should be able to sound as scooped or midrangey as you'd like. What I really liked about the clean sound was that the "gain" didn't necessarily push it to clipping, but warmed up the sound considerably. The cleans got a bit rounder and had the tubey, "chewiness" for lack of better terms. I haven't tried the emulated cabinet out yet, but it's a FET-based circuit which can generally nail the frequency based impedance (i.e., emphasis on the 100 Hz and 2.5 kHz regions) of a stack pretty well. Clips I heard online sound very direct and well "mic'd" so I'm sure it won't be an issue. Overall I was blown away, and would definitely recommend this product and AMT's other offerings; they all sound incredible.
