I have an Ibanez guitar, Ibanez head and Ampeg cabinets. My sound was good, but a little thin, lacking presence. This little pedal in my effects loop brought out a depth and richness that I didn't know was possible. If you have a decent sound already, but it's lacking a little something-GET THIS PEDAL!!! If you are not happy with your sound at all, this won't help you. It takes a good sound and makes it a great sound. I won't be without one again.
This is an amazing pedal. You don't realize how it fattens up your guitar's tone till you turn it off. It adds a third dimension and creates nuances and characteristics you didn't have before. However, if your overall sound is trash, fix that first! If not, you may find this pedal will only enhance the trash. 3-D trash is still trash. But if your tone is just "missing something", this may be your ticket.
This pedal along with the Aphex "Punch Factory" pedal makes a noticeable improvement to the clean sound of every one of my guitars. Improves the playing attack feel of the highs and also adds to the power feel on the lows.
After I first purchased the exciter, I was running it in my peal chain and wasn't very impressed. However, after I patched it into the effects loop of my 5150 II, I was amazed. The low end was more prominent, yet tighter. And the high end articulation really stood out. Very good for the price - as long as it's used in the effects loop.
I've had this pedal for 3 years now and have not had a single problem with it. The unit is reliable and sturdy enough to handle rough touring. I recommend this to anyone who wants to just "bring out" their tone!!...This little baby cleans up my Les Paul Custom to near crystal like tones..and adds a little extra punch to my Strats. (I don't play my Les Pauls without it!!) But BEWARE!! I don't reccommend this unit for just any guitarist...you really have to know how work out your tone from amp to guitar and pedal...I would also reccomend NOT using this for any distortion or overdrive...It seems to work against the natural nuances of od/dist. It works best for clean sounds ...other than that if you're looking for that pedal to just make your sound come alive this is a must for your rig!!!
I wasn't that sure why i needed this pedal before i purchesed it, they description doesn't do it justice. It adds so much to your overall sound that its hard to put it into words. The only problem i have had with it is that the output jack is noisey. But as long as you don't pick it up while playing, you should be fine.
Greatly improves your tone and makes your harmonics jump. Especially useful if you are into heavy distortion and compression. Brings your sound back to life.
After using the guitar exciter for about 4 weeks, I would have to say overall that this unit is definately a welcome addition to my setup! It did wonders for my solid state peavey xxl but was to!tally useless for my other guitarists mesa rectifier ! If your burnt out on your current tone and don't have alot of cash to spend than this may be the unit for you !
Once you turn it on you won't want to turn it off! This is a stealth stomp box that really brings out the overtones in your guitar. Great for helping to highlight a lead phrase or break. If you play with it on for awhile and then shut it down your amp will sound dull. A lot of guys can live without it just fine. But if you're looking for that little extra edge in tone to set your sound apart, this will do the trick. I think if you put one in your loop you'll never shut it down.
This unit works well, it delivers where it promises. It will add luster to a flat clean tone, however it's simalar to the BBE Sonic Maximizer in the sense that it tends to drowned out distortin at a certain peak. I would recomend this to a serious performer, but it's not necessary for pracicing at home.
