first of all, if you want a pedal with like 3 second delay, go to digitech or something. now if you want a pedal that has short delay, but nice delay than this is it. my favorite thing about it is that you can hook up to amps through it, and then if you hit the stereo button it hits one amp at a time and is in stereo. it does have sort of a cheap sound too it, but it's still good. i like it and trust it enough that i just ordered 3 other arion pedals today. the only pedals that i have to have more expensive are for distortion and wah, cause i have to have those sound good. arion is great for everything else. And after about a year and a half of use, it still works. and people complain about it being plastic? so what? do you hit your pedals with a sledgehammer or something? if not then i think you'll be all right. unless your stage show involves jumping on the pedals from a 5 foot amp on beat or something, then you might want to rethink it. other than that, stop reading this nonsense and buy this pedal if you want short, nice, stereo (or even mono) delay.

Just a side note, of course you're not going to get a huge digi delay sound out of it, it's an inexpensive pedal. But furthermore, anyone can tell it was not meant to be a digi delay, it is supposed to create a slight delay between a stereo track... effectively doing two things. 1) gives you stereo ambient capabilites. 2) produce what many could call a "live sound" It makes it sound as if there are two guitarist as compared to one.

Good Delay Pedal

By SDragonRocker5

from Macon, GA

This is a nice pedal. Not recommended for professional players, as with all Arions, but good if you play guitar as a hobby. Awesome short delay for the price. The controls range from a reverb-like effect to a repeated delay which sounds great, especially on high note hammer-ons/pull offs. If you're a low budget guitar player looking for a delay pedal, definitely buy this.

Very Impressed !

Knowing the case is plastic not made for live floor stomping, more control room environment - still gets high rating. Battery cover lame - needs the AC adapter. Provides a very good spinning speaker effect esp. stereo mode into two amps. I find it works well with keyboards or guitar. And for the money - GREAT! Wish they made a Digital Reverb too.

Not your average analog delay...

This pedal is great for spacey, ethereal delay sounds, but understand the the repeats are very dark and very muted. This isn't a very good delay unit in terms of what a delay should sound like, but it's a totally unique, totally weird sound that is really cool. I use it for synthesizers primarily, but it sounds good with guitar. Vocals have a cool sound to them through this unit, because the repeats are so muffled you can't understand what they're saying. Grooooooovy!!

Perfect for spacey washes of sound.

The sound of this pedal was much different than I expected, but I immediately grew to love it just the same. It is a one trick pony, more or less, but fortunately it's a good trick! It provides spacey washes of sound that trail notes and chords like a wake. As the lone guitarist in a four piece band, I've found that using it with low settings really fills out our sound. Changing the settings yields a nice spectrum of sonic textures that you wouldn't necessarily use in every song. Still, it'll make people wonder what the hell is that sound?!

Great since '82

By B-0btlI

I have an Arion analog delay that I traded something (don't remember what) for in 1982. I used it last Saturday night as I have literally hundreds of times before. You can't buy one here anymore but if you see one elsewhere...buy it.

Great spacey analog delay for an unbelievable price. What have you got to lose?

good delay pedal for spacey sounds.

By Jared-QNcHH

from South Dakota

if you're expecting high end delay that you can make soundscapes out of, or sound like the Edge from U2, you might be disappointed. However, if you're looking for theramin-like sounds, tripped out spacey sounds, and a pedal that self oscillates like a UFO, look no further. Of course with only a max delay time of 200ms, you're not going to get lots of pretty repeated notes. It's good at what it does, I'm sure there's not alot of other pedals on the market like it. Also take note that this is ANALOG. Analog is good for the tone, it's nice and warm. I've had mine for a month, and it's worked out great. Works excellent with nice mellow acoustic work. Cheers!

Inexpensive, Clean Reverb Substitute

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

At a price point that's hard to argue with, the Arion SAD-3, when used judiciously, will provide clean "reverb" for guitar amps that aren't equipped with a spring (e.g. Behringer GM-108). Perhaps because it's an analog (bucket brigade) device, the SAD-3 doesn't obscure the delicate, bell-like overtones of the Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings on my beloved Peavey T-60. For my purposes, this is an excellent, very musical accessory.
