With all the same features and facilities as the Fallen Angel DSP All-Tube amplifiers, the Fallen Angel DSP Tube-Pre range combines an all-tube preamp with a revolutionary tube-emulating solid-state output stage that dynamically interacts with the speaker(s) to provide similar characteristics to a push-pull tube output stage at a much lower cost. The result is a great range of clean and overdrive tones for a killer price.

The FA 50 DSP Tube-Pre guitar amp combines a dual-channel 50-Watt amp section (feeding 1x12" speaker) with 16 internal DSP effects - including four Chorus, four Flanger and eight Delay programs, plus an internal DSP Reverb section. Both channels offer flexible gain and EQ controls for a wide range of clean and crunch tones.

Equally at home on stage or in the studio, the Fallen Angel 50 DSP Tube-Pre combo amp includes a 4-way footswitch to select Channel 1/2, Boost On/Off, Effects On/Off and dual Master Volumes, and a Speaker Emulation circuit on the line level recording output.

Fallen Angel AD-FA50CDSP 50w 1x12 Tube Pre Hybrid Guitar Combo Amp Specifications:

    • Power Output (RMS): 50W
    • Speaker Configuration: 1 x 12"

I know this amplifier is no longer availabe on MF, but I'm still writing a review. I was searching to find an additional Ashdown Fallen Angel FA50 and found this page, so... what the heck.

I've had this amplifier for five years now and couldn't be more pleased. Yes, I have other amplifiers that I regularly use (Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10 and Peavey Delta Blues 115 are my other main amps) with the Ashdown Fallen Angel, but this amplifier is one of my favorites and a consistant part of my live and studio sound. I chain all of my amps for simultaneous and individual "sound".

The clean tone on the amp is excellent. I like that I can dial more or less gain into the overall tone. I don't care for a high trebel tone and this amp is, indeed, "darker" sounding. Even alone, I prefer the richness of the darker tone and the amp sounds really great clean. The lead channel, once again, is rich and full and the boost on the footswitch gives me the ability to instantly add a small amount of gain, compression, and overall volume to my part. I can't emphasize this enough. The amount of boost is perfect. The onboard effects are nice, but I only use one delay setting - and that's just my personal preference. All sound great, however. The footswitch also allows for two individual volume settings which is fantastic for creating atmosphere.

It should be clear by now that I'm not a metal player (not that there's anything wrong with that) and I mention that only to say that this is not a "metal" amplifier. When the amp is dimed out on gain - which I never do anyway - and cranked up, it becomes muddy and spongy. Definition of notes and chords is immediately apparent. However, when one allows the VOLUME rather than the gain to project an overdriven or distorted tone, this amp delivers.

Very happy with this amp and I use it constantly.

My $.02 for what it's worth.

Very poor quality control. Apparantly assembler pushed too hard while drilling out holes to mount the brain in cabinet. Only 3 screws held brain. Very cheap particle board. The reverb and the effects did not work. Made in China...But it really looked good.........very dark sound..........

Sorry to say this amp was a terrible dissapointment. When amp arrived only 3 screws were actually holding in the brain. When I examined it closely it obviosly was shipped from the factory in this condition. None of the effects worked including the reverb. The amp looked pretty darn good to be in sach a shape. The sound was very dark and had no brightness what so ever. |When you first look at this thing it is very striking. Very good looking. But its made out of cheap press wood and the assembler must have pressed to hard on the one screw holding the brain.
