Comments about Ashdown FF125 1x15 125W Bass Combo Amp:

I've read the other reports. Mine came in perfect condition, never rattles and has no other issues. Maybe I got lucky or maybe the others just didn't, I don't know.
What I do know - The amp has a fantastic tone when used with my MIJ Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass. I am a piano player, guitar player .. and the list goes on but I don't play bass much other than for my recordings. The sound I am looking for and consider good is a classic rock mellow to upbeat but not heavy, 70's sound. My bass is set up the black nylon covered strings. I like a deep, not to sustained sound. Round wounds will never make me happy, half rounds are sometimes OK, flats sound pretty good and these black nylons are the best. I also love the sound of an old Vox bass tube amp. Knowing what I like is important to understand this amp gets it. I put on the distortion and turn it to about 1 or 1.5, right at the start of the dial and it gets me what I want. If you like things more distorted, it can probably do it just fine but I think the distortion, past about 3 is just an ugly sound.
The amp is about what I'd expect for wattage/volume. I've read that some think its heavy. It's about what I'd expect. Mine is built well, looks good and feels like it could handle normal thumping.
The bottom line is that if you're a bass player that either grew up in or like the 70's era, particularly The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Fire Fall, etc, bass sound, you'll like this amp. That doesn't mean you won't get other sounds out of it. It just means I get a great sound for that kind of use.
I'm really glad I bought it.

Great for party jams or small gigs. Needs a compressor in front to define the sound. I use a Zoom MS 60-B and it sounds great. Got mine on Stupid Deal of the day, best purchase I ever made!

Comments about Ashdown FF125 1x15 125W Bass Combo Amp:

I purchased the amp above as an upgrade to my previous amp. If done correctly, this is a very good amp for someone working to become a bassist. However, I will say that the overall craftsmanship of the amp was at best, sub-par. It's unfortunate that the amp itself has to lack in quality just because of poor manufacturing and or shipping quality. Perhaps it's just this specific amp that I received, but I would not buy this amp a second time.

The amp has a great sound for the money, really good. Kind of heavy for a low wattage amp, but I guess that's what to expect from a bass amp. Very good value.

Comments about Ashdown FF125 1x15 125W Bass Combo Amp:

I opened the box and removed the amp only to find that the middle portion of the enclosure was dented at the top front of the cabinet. The box showed no damage what so ever, It had to have been packaged all ready damaged by the manufacturer. You couldn't see it until you took off the bag it was sealed in. I tried it out and feel it was worth the money I paid but sounded bad with my guitar and fretless bass. My bands bass player played his Ibanez with active electronics through it and it sounds great. It also handles my B9 organ pedal admirably. I'm not returning it because at least it works and is worth the SDOTD price. If you don't mind spending more, get the Fender Rumble 100. It sounds fantastic with anything and only weighs 22 pounds!
