I needed an assistant to my MAG 2x10 combo and this 15" bottom fits in nicely. Gives me more fattness in my sound, plus it raises my MAG amp up a little higher so I can see the dials. Nice weight too. I hook it up for bigger shows. Its been years since I've played through a 15. It good to see one behind me again. Great job Ashdown.
I bought a MAG 115, a MAG 410 and a MAG 600 amp head. It is an amazing bass rig. The 115 gives it a nice big bottom end while the 410's give you lots of clean volume and punch. I play a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass with this cab and it has great clean tone. For the money there is nothing elce like it.
First off know you can't go wrong with ashdown speakers they are amazing. This thing is beefy and fills the room with delicious drop C bassy goodness. I got this because my ashdown perfect ten needs help standing up to two 4x12 stacks obviously, and even under powering it at 30 watts it still can be heard. It handles mid well also not just for ultra low end. I LOVE ASHDOWN SPEAKERS and I'm a speaker-0-phile. Rated 4.5 because a horn would've made it perfect as well as parallel inputs.
Run two of these with a MAG600 head! Very nice sound and very portable and still can be HEARD! Add the nice price ..... Hard to beat and I've tried a lot of stuff .....
I have had this guy for over two years, and have powered it with the MAG300H head.By itself it produces a classic mid to low frequencey sound very suitable for practice and jam sessions.Ran with the MAG410t I get a much broader range of highs and lows, the 410 alone has a lot of mids but the 115 adds a punch (and alittle flab if you turn the input up to high) that make you stand out alitte more.My only complaint is the lack of a tweeter to help the highs.
The tonal character of this little box fits smaller clubs, coffee shops, and house shows perfectly. It comes close to putting my Ampeg 4x10 to pasture.
This cab is very well made and carpet covered. The handles are fine. It produces really well defined and smooth sound. It is also a wimp.Poking 250W into it produces far less volume than expected/required. Driven together with 4 x 10's it is not really obvious that the MAG is connected. The ABM 115 however, is MUCH better.
