I run an SWR Workingman 4004 amp through 2 of these cabinets and they sound great -- really tight and crisp, yet they can crank. They are very well made, and one of the big reasons I bought these is that they are one of the lightest, high-quality cabinets on the market. At this price they are one of the best values out there.
This is a good, solid gigable cabinet. Feels a bit heavier than they rate it at, but 2 can move it for sure. It's apparently one of the few that use plywood not MDF, my pref is plywood. The sound is a very focused and brite colored bass, capable of lows but not like playing 15's, but I believe guys who like 15's would like this cabinet, esp. to blend with. The company itself, Ashdown, prior to buying at MF, was and still is very responsive and friendly; with a state side reg. rep. who always got back to me w/in 24hrs, with good full answers, and offered more if needed. (Not always the case in my exp.). I don't anticipate an issue w/this unit, but won't anticipate an issue with Ashdown, hard to say, but w/MF at the point of sale, I don't worry anyway.I have played it so far with a Fender Bassman 50. It starts to overdrive at apx fully overdriven at and thats using both channels simultaneously w/a stereo connector; Dimarzio P aftermarket PUPs, and/or a Gibson Sidewinder PUP.Since it had the briteness and I was using the Bassman anyway, I decided to plug in my Gibson LP with Alico V PUPs... had a very nice bluesy sound; though didn't do the overdrive very well, since I will guess am not getting the hi freq response, but, in a pinch or if a Jazz player, would be a nice setup too. So, then plugged in my acoustic, ... so though is a bass bottom, and a good one, you've got some options here. Kinda cool in my opinion. And, it can handle some decent wattage, prior to micing. So, I do recommend it.
