OVERVIEW

Capable of driving a stereo rig for huge walls of bass sound.

The NM2 effects pedal is a Dual Distortion Stereo effects device specifically designed for Nate Mendel of the Foo Fighters. This pedal has been designed from the ground up with Nate to ensure the ultimate pedal for Bass Distortion with some very cool features key to the specific application set by Nate from the start of conception.

There is a single Input jack socket and 2 x Output jack sockets - Output 1 & Output 2. Both of these outputs provide the same level of bass signal that is presented at the Input, plus their own individually adjustable mix of 2 separate, and very different distortion effects (one for each output), that can be added to the original dry bass signal for massive bass overdrive effects.

For stereo use each output can be fed to separate amplifiers and the individually adjustable bass overdrive effects switched IN or OUT for Output 1, for Output 2 or both together.
By using the 1+2 switch both effects can be routed to Output 2 allowing the use of Distortion 1, Distortion 2 or both together into a single amplifier if desired.

Because the same level of unaltered bass signal is always fed from input to the output and to this original dry signal is added the distortion effects, you will never lose the full dynamics and bottom end contained in your bass playing.

FEATURES
Power Requirement: Internal 9V Battery - External 9V DC adaptor. Center pin negative
High Instrument Input: Impedance 470kOhm Signal level -10dBv to 0dBv Output
Output Impedance: Impedance 1kOhm Signal level - same as input level Supply

Great pedal, more of a vintage overdrive than distortion

Comments about Ashdown NM2 Nate Mendel Dual Distortion Bass Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal hoping to find "my sound"; you know the never ending quest for personal tone. Anyway, I can't say I found "the one" but I will definitely be using this pedal for a good while, and will not be returning it.

First of all, the video of Nate demonstrating the pedal just sucks. I like Nate, respect his playing but let's just say he is not the reason that I went with this pedal. Personally, I prefer plucking to picking and was hoping to get more of a Lemmy with his Ric sound (but without using a pick) and am happy to say this pedal does that in spades (no pun). The distortion on this pedal is not super heavy, in fact I would say that even with both of the drive mixes turned all the way up; it does not have that off the charts distortion. If you want heavy distortion try the Billy Sheehan signature pedal.

Honestly the best way for me to describe the distortion effect(s) is that it sounds/feels subtle, controlled, and not muddy, more of a modern take on vintage overdriven distortion. What this pedal really does well is cut through the mix and is much better than I could have hoped for in that regard. I loved watching my guitarist go back to his pedal board and try to adjust his effects as everyone who heard this at a loud volume, focused on how good I sounded. On a final note, placing my Big-Mufff (Had to add a "f" the filter won't allow me to say the title of EH's staple fuzz pedal lol) Pi in front of this totally enhanced the effect, and allowed rich harmonics to ring with complete finger control. It also looks dead sexy on your board and works great with only a 9v 100ma input. Buy it!

Comments about Ashdown NM2 Nate Mendel Dual Distortion Bass Effects Pedal:

Does exactly what you want. Switches are far enough apart that a big-footed oaf still hits only what he wants. Allows multiple levels of distortion without having to adjust the unit. Love it.
