Qualifier: I have been playing guitar for over a quarter century, have worked with a lot of professional bands, and make custom electric guitars for a living... I know my stuff. That aside, lets put this amp into perspective. It is not a thousand plus dollar Marshall, it doesn't sound as good at distortion as a Genz-Benz, or a Soldano, and won't be as loud as a 400 watt amp. It is a hundred watt solid state HALF STACK FOR CHEAP! I cant even get a decent cabinet for the price of this whole half stack. Not too shabby if you ask me. I have owned this amp now for about three months, and honestly, I almost never plug in my Marshall anymore. ('Course that may be because with a solid state amp like this one, there is no wait for the tubes to warm up.) It's so nice to get the urge to play, and not have to turn on the amp and wait. The features of the head are not anything to jump up and down about, but they ain't bad! The contour control is very nice. I can actually get a pretty convincing Randy Rhoads sound out of distortion 2. Each channel has a three band EQ, and gain 2 has contour as well. Both channels have level and a master control, and reverb. The reverb does sound like it is part of a cheap amp, but c'mon guys, it is!Volume is very good for an amp of this price. I have no problem whatsoever keeping up with the drummer or the bassist. The only thing I am somewhat dissatisfied with is the noise. It is very hummy at top volume and gain. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a Rocktron C Hush. Problem solved. Tha cabinet is very well constructed, and will take (and dish out) a beating. My only complaint would be the tone of the speakers. The overall register of the cabinet is very bassy. I might decide to replace the cones with some Celestions, but I'm not sure that it's worth the hassle. I've actually come to like the boom that this cab dishes out. All in all, this has become my defacto band practice amp. I originally bought it to have an amp to leave at the tavern, but I can't seem to part with it, so I haul it every time. :)

Hey, I played at a local show a couple weeks ago, and I let my other guitarist use my Marshall Valvestate 100Watt Half Stack(its the Pre-AVT, with the AVT cab). And I had to use another band's B-52, we thought everything was ok durring soundcheck, but when I did the distortion channel Durring our band's cool song, it was really quiet, and I couldn't hear anything, It Suxed, and it ruined my part of the show that evening. But the clean channel seemed to partially comply with my marshall, It wasn't anything like I wanted to hear though. The Marshall completely KILLED it, it blew it out of the water, I mean, I thought it sounded good in my room, but in a venue, In which it was made for, the sound quality was enforced by 10X, WOW! so, you know what to do if you are in the same thinking state as me... next time I play at a show, im letting my other guitarist use the other guy's amp, and Im using my Marshall.

I have had a lot of amps but this one blows them all away. It has all the crunch of a marshall and all the clean of a fender. I find it to be the best sounding amp I have ever owned!

    Great Value

    By Nate P

When I purchased this amp I wanted something loud and big to take on the road and was on an extremely low budget. I thought I was buying the cheapest possible crappy amp but I was wrong. It turned out to be one of the best solid state amps I've ever heard. The clean channel is amazing which means if you run a TS9 or DD6 through it, it will shine for you. The only real complaint I have is withing the first year the footswitch stopped working but warranty took care of it with no problems.

    :)

Okay, I bought this amp 2 1/2 years ago and it still works beautifully. The distortion channels on it are a bit muddy, but the amp is amazing considering it's solid state.out of all the other 100W half stacks I've tried, this one is by far the best. The clean channel is very very very clear, so if you have a distortion pedal, you can get really good tone out of it and then just use the built-in channels as alternatives. The reverb also works really well. By the way, the amp is really durable too. So if you arent willing to go higher in price and purchase a tube amp, i definitely recommend this one.

    Under Rated

Powerful, reliable, ... very under rated. The perfect Gig 1/2 stack ... Have had a B-52 for over two years ... never a problem with anything. Solid State electronic a real plus for the band on the road, cabinet will handle anything without any unwanted distortion (400 watt handling capability). This a great 1/2 stack ... should cost much more!

    Nice Solid State AMP

    By Daguitarpl8yr

I tried this amplifier at a church and it sounded awesome! I played with my Boss GT-8 and it sounded great! If I had the money I would go buy it. I prefer this amplifier than the Marshall MG Series. THe clean is way better and distortion too. If you want a nice solid state stack go for this one, you wont be dissapointed!!!

    Disappointed

It's very noisy when turned up loud (not good noise)...so much whining and feedback in between notes it's ridiculous. Not to mention when i received it, it was all beat up and has lots of cuts and tears in the vinyl. Since i've gotten it, the metal corners seem to catch on everything and pop out, which strips out the screws. and the screws on the head are stripped out and i haven't even touched those.overall, i feel cheated. it is loud and gets me through though.i'd say - buy something else.

    Rock Solid!

    By Young Angus-p3_XN

This amp is amazing. I bought it a few weeks ago and got to use it live for the first time 2 days ago. The lead guitarist in the band I was playing with had Marshall, and let me tell you, this thing blew it off the stage! My SG and B-52 were more than a match for his Jackson and Marshall The Clean Channel is a drema and the 2 distortion channels will blow through anything. you could spend a lot on a marshall...or save big bucks and get a better amp...I think i'm in love!

    ROCKS!

    By disurbed12598

The sound quality is incredible. The clean channel doesnt distort and the overdrive is insane. I had a slight problem with the feedback, but if you turn down the volume from your guitar a tiny bit, it's absolutely fine. And this amp can take a beating. I have knocked this amp down so many times I lost count, and it plays like it did when I first bought it. A price like this is an oppurtunity for any guitarist with a low budget (even though this amp plays better than most high end Crates and Marshalls I've played on). Buy this now!

Yeah, so I just got paid, just got a new guitar, and my name is marshall, so you can imagine what my plans were when I walked into the guitar store.... I got this instead. The versatility is phenomenal, it's rugged, clean and dirty, good to both ends of the tonal spectrum. All in all, if you're young, talented, and strapped for cash, look no further, cuase this is were you get off.
