I have been playing for over 20 years. I usually play a vintage Orange OR-80, but nuked it, and needed a new amp pronto. I checked out Mesa, Vox, Fender, Marshall, Peavey, Diezel, you name it. I have played the "modelling" amps and felt they were missing a dynamic tubes give naturally, so I decided to stick with tubes. I was sold on the Fender Super-Sonic until, on a whim, I plugged into this thing. GREAT tone. I do see the drawback of the circuit board construction. More energy through the board increases the liklihood of failure, but televisions, which usually have higher Xformer and plate voltages than tube amps use them effectively, so it shouldn't be an amp killer. As far as construction, the clean channel has an issue that will require a return for repair, but my biggest complaint so far is that when the amp is switched on with the standby ON, it pops the fuse hidden in the power cord connector. I had to dismantle the amp (also no picnic) to find it. I also saw the effects loop as an issue. I use a Digitech GNX-4, and I have yet to find a configuration that doesn't suck. I'll be returning it to upgrade to the 212, replacing the cord connector with a circuit-breaker style input, possible adding a MIDI relay-array selector for the footswitch so my GNX can take over the footswitch capabilites, and possible swapping the speakers for Celestions. Overall, great bang for the buck.

I played this amp several times at a guitar center and loved the tone. When I went to buy it, no one could find any that worked. They had 1 broken one, and 1 that had been repaired but still had issues. They called another guitar center that had 2, but 1 was a return and wasn't working well, and the other was a demo that wouldn't changed channels with the footswitch. They called another one far away, but they only had 1, and it had recently been repaired because of some noise issues. Never got to buy it. No wonder the price is so low.

I bought this amp about five months ago with some money I made working over the summer. I needed something versatile and something cheap and something loud, and this amp does the job. The overdrive channel gets heavy enough to play most metal, but if you need this for some of the more "br00talz m3talz" then you might want a boost or an OD. The clean channel is great; I had heard some complaints about it but from what I can hear, it's completely articulate and well-rounded. Great amp for the price.
I bought this amp about a month ago and was a little skeptical based on other reviews saying that it was prone to not functioning properly, but it arrived fine, and when I plugged it in I was impressed. This amp has great clean tone with lots of headroom. You can even plug it into 1 or 2 cabinets and really rock it! The distortion is pretty good, too. The "contour" and "low res" knobs add even more control to get tons of cool tones. It even has spring reverb! The only gripes I had were that I can't get the effects loop with level controls to function properly, but maybe that's just my stupidity. Also, the amp resonates a little whenever I play an A, I'm guessing that's the reverb tank. Overall, a killer value.
I bought this amp at guitar center, The reason i got it so cheap is because it didn't work. I was happy to find out that the 3.5 amp fuse above the power supply was burnt out. I latter found that the amp does that a lot with 3.5 amp fuses. I switched to 5 amp, and that still keeps anything internal from getting hurt in the amp. I love this amp to death. If you drive the clean channel with any distortion it gives the nicest deep tone. If this amp's on the clean channel and it pop's a lot it is not the caps, it is something to do with the cheap Audio plug-ins. Great amp!!! If you fix all the problems. Easy easy stuff.
Took delivery of this amp four days ago and gigged with it two days ago. I'm very pleased with how this thing sounds and the "contour" and "low res" knobs are great features. The clean channel has plenty of volume and stays clean with no hair on it even at a high volume. Only downside is that the reverb does not work. The footswitch turns it on, but it's not there. I don't know to what I would attribute that but the box was a little beat up by the time it got to me. I'm confident that it is an easy fix. But overall, great amp for the money!
I've only had this amp for a short time so I am not exactly sure about the longevity of it, but so far I am impressed. Its basically the poor man's mesa boogie, it does not have all of the options of a mesa but its got a great rectifier tone. The clean channel is amazingly responsive and has great dynamics great for blues or anything on the lighter end of the spectrum of music. The distortion channel is great for leads however, like a mesa, it does not have a soulful lead like you would get from a marshall. The amp is voiced perfectly, my eq pedal did not do much for it; the just of it sounded about the same.
I was thrilled to find a tube amp with these features so cheap. But that all ended when I received it and plugged in. It made all kind of odd sounds that were not good. I called B52 and they said it was the preamp tubes. they sent me some replacement tubes but that made it worse so returned it and I am looking for something else.

I love tube amps and this one seems to be a winner! It comes with caster for the ease of moving it around, thats a plus. It has plenty, and I mean plenty of distortion. If you play metal, it will work for you. Reverb doesn't seem to work at all but I think thats because of shipping-- somebody banged it pretty hard. Still considering returning it. Other than that, It is a perfect amp for your home, studio, or small gigs!! GREAT TUBE SOUND!!!
I've had this amp for a good solid year. Had to take it into the shop about twice in a year for repairs, but they finally got it right and its perfect. This amp is incredibly versatile. I can plug in my strat or tele and get a gorgeous clean tone and nice overdrive sound, or plug in the schecter and crank the gain and its pretty baller. Only thing I can recommend is get a tube volume control box. This amps gets really loud so you can just plug this box in, turn the box down, and crank the amp. The tubes heat up and the volume isnt absurd, makes a world of difference
I purchased my b-52 about 8 months ago.I have to let you know I own the at-212 which is the 200w big brother that was discontinued for some wierd reason.Regardless its the same amp just more watts but it is the cleanest sounding amp and the overdrive is perfect for any style.the only problem i have is it is HEAVY I hate to have to move it, luckly it has wheels so that helps.Other than that it is great and extremely LOUD i cant turn mine up half way or me and others in the room will become deaf no kidding it would be great for gigs.If you are thinking about buying one don't think just buy it you wont go wrong.
