I bought this pedal as a preamp to use with my POD xt into a tech 21 power engine, and for that it worked wonderfully. The clean tone on the first channel is amazing. The overdrive has tons of gain, (almost too much for me) but cleans up nicely when the volume on your guitar is rolled back. I now use it with a Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue, and it stays on almost all the time. When I turn it off, it sounds like a blanket is over my amp.
I bought my 2-tone 2 years ago and it had noisy switching and a very LOUD 60hz hum constantly when uniy was plugged in. Back then I was told Bad Cat did not make these at their factory where they make the prised amps and all I could do was to return pedal, which I did. The tone was good on clean. The distortion was bass heavy that could not be adjusted out. I heard the new units actually switch quietly. I may buy again if they ever actually get a unit in stock so i could purchase it. Old noisy unit was handwired which I consider a nice feature. Much higher build quality than any competitors, if they keep the quality AND fix noise problem then they would be bad cat's. When I spend money on a pedal and it is extremely noisy I'll try good quiet tubes and then if it's still noisy then as I had to 2 years ago return pedal since I require properly designed and reliable gear.
