OVERVIEW

Get the legendary classic-rock tone with smooth, round reverb.

This is the one that started it all! The Black Cat's pedigree is well known. The amp of choice for countless arena acts. Huge, chimey 3-D cleans. A sound so delicate yet ferocious when pushed. You have never heard lows like this come from an EL84 amp. The 12AX7 side gives lush sweet and complex mid-range that works from warm punchy cleans through tight crunchy growl. Engage the master volume and get the dirt at any level.

Switch over to the EF86 and get a lesson in why the Black Cat is revered by so many diverse artists. Shimmering cleans that can be pushed lightly to fill the room with ghostly octaves and harmonics. Rev up channel two a little harder and push your sound into Class-A nirvana. Note definition, highs that spray around the hall and a bottom end that never gets loose.

Dual reverb controls and dual masters that can be switched in or out of the circuit, half-power switch, which allows all of the magic to occur at manageable volumes, round out the refinements. Experience why The Black Cat is played by some of the biggest artists on some of the largest stages in the world.

Comments about Bad Cat Black Cat 30W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp with Reverb:

Of all the amps I have ever played, this one is in another league altogether as far as it tone goes. I know there are other similar boutique amps, and I have not played all of them. I can only say that my search for the perfect sound stopped here. Now, this amp does have its limitations. Distortion and breakup are rather light to moderate, but this amp is a great platform for pedals if that is what you want. . High gain is not what this one was designed for. But for clean to moderate and smooth distortion, this thing is absolutely glorious. The build quality is second to none, and these hand wired amps are fairly easy to work on by competent professionals. I have already had a slight modification to mine to adjust the reverb to my personal taste. The bad cat speaker sounds amazing, but I am currently trying out an alnico gold. It also sounds terrific as well. The articulation on this amp really stunned me. This is where all those fancy build-components really pay off......in the details. I found it easy to dial in various flavors of tone, and you can't really get a bad sound out of this amp. The controls are pretty usable throughout their range. I have found the people at BadCat, including the head guy, to be easily accessible, and very ready to answer questions and hear about your experience with the amp. They are proud of their creations, and seem to stand behind them 100%. I don't think I could ever sell this amp. It will probably be one of those highly desired classics one day. Its sound is a little similar to a Vox, probably more similar to a Matchless. However, BadCat really has their own vibe going on, and it is the tone I have been looking for. The light-up logo is pretty cool too. The only con I can think of is that they are a little heavy, but most of the very best amps are. I highly recommend this amp.

Ok I don't own one of these but a friend does , I have owned and tried a lot of amps in my life but I must say the tone out of this amp is as good as I have ever heard in my humble opinion and I hope one day he gets tired of it like musicians always do and I can buy it off him . Oh yes it is a bit heavy .
