Comments about Bad Cat Cougar 50H 50W Class AB Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I hate to write something like this and I hope it only applies to my amp. When I got the amp it sounded so so and I thought it was a bit weak on the volume side for a 50 watt amp. I always retube amps when I get one and I thought maybe it had a weak tube in it. I took the chassis out to retube it and low and behold, there in front of me was an output transformer that said Kustom Defender112, 40 watts. I'm in the process of getting the problem worked out with the people at Hanser Music Corp (Don't call Bad Cat in reference to anything about this amp. Bad Cat didn't build this amp and has nothing to do with it. Only the Bad Cat USA built amps are amps produced and sold by the current Bad Cat company. That surprised me also. When you go to the Hanser website they don't even list the Bad Cat Cougar line of amps as one of their many different brands of amps. Hopefully my amp is the only one with a 40 watt output transformer in it but you might want to check yours if you own this amp. You can't get 50 watts out of a 40 watt transformer. I was really surprised when I learned that the current Bad Cat company has nothing to do with the Cougar series amps. I'm not trying to start anything, just informing people of what happened to me. I feel that the amp is alright for the Stupid Deal price I paid for it but if I'd paid the full price for it I would have really been torqued. You might check and see if you have the proper or 50 watt output transformer in your amp if you own one. It'll probably be a Kustom brand transformer also.

Comments about Bad Cat Cougar 50H 50W Class AB Tube Guitar Amp Head:
Marshalls are Massive Fenders are Fine, but this Bad Cat 50 will make you forget them since it does all the Fender Sparkle with more gain than a Marshall on tap. They say this sounds better than the HotCat it was designed like I do not know but it sounds better than any Bad Cat model or other amp I have played! although it does not have it's point to point wiring for easy repair...who cares you can get 4 of these for the price of one and still get a persian cat and set her free!. I do not Expect the Cats will let this model remain at this price for long so get this Stray Cat in your house before the price goes wild!

Comments about Bad Cat Cougar 50H 50W Class AB Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I use this 50 watt Cougar head with a Marshall 4-12" cabinet "or" my Blackstar combo amp speakers. The Tones are amazing, clean or with overdrive with warmth and sustain, you can create your tones without beinf a rocket scientist, just simple to to use without all the stuff you don't need. I love this amp. In my 43 years of playing, this should be the last amp. It is all I'll ever need.

Comments about Bad Cat Cougar 50H 50W Class AB Tube Guitar Amp Head:
Just bought this from Musicians Friend and gigged twice with it.Ive replaced my 30 yr old Fender Twin with this amp and was amazed with its versatility. Its pretty much matching the right speakers.(Im using my Buddah 1X12" speaker cab) The Cougar sounded great with the Marshall MG412, and my Fender Twin Speakers. For every Guitar picker who wants that Spongy Tone. Even though this amp is built in China, it performed better than the (US made)BadCat Lynx which failed on my first show.
I personally like the sustain on the clean channel, and the tone selectors lock in your sound. The lead channel is great as well making this a well rounded amplifier. Usually its one or the other with manufacturers. The freedom of tone is buying an Amp Head which allows us to change sounds with different cabs. Think about it; with a combo youre stuck. As a member of a Band who play Top 40 material; this is the amp to go with. Thank you Musicians Friend for taking the risk and adding this affordable Amp to your product line.
