I got my freq boost to push my Traynor 50 Blue just a little bit harder and that it does! It sends the clean channel into super overdrive and beefs up the OD channel. Great for solos. Built like a tank but it can be pretty noisey so I run mine thru a Boss NS-2 and it does the job.
First, I can't believe the price here. I paid twice as much. Now the pedal, it rocks. It gives you the clarity on power chords. Leads sing like a bird. This pedal takes your sound and really makes it exiting and big. Even though you would think a treble boost would thin your sound out, it actually makes it bigger. I love it. I use a hush pedal because it does have a little noise, but not unbearable. Great for Brian May sounds.
Really drives your amp in a pleasant way. It will take some bottom off of your sound when engaged, but this is really easy to compensate for and is less noticeable in a band setting. It's as versatile as the whole of your rig, because while it alters the EQ it still retains the character of your tone. If you can dial in a lot of great tones in your rig as is, this pedal will easily work with all of them...it's not going to find your tone for you. Only beef is that the rubber pad on the bottom had been glued on sloppily and there was a sticky, dried glue all over the casing that I had to clean off.
Just got this to boost in a trade as I needed a Booster really badly for a dwindling Fuzz Face.Needless to say that this is a SMACK DAB great Booster ! The Battery will last a ridiculous 300 hours of use ... WDFGreat for giving life to a Fuzz Face !
I bought my BBE frequency boost pedal and was pleasantly surprised,It boosts my upper mid range and high treble registers. It's circuit also drives my pushed tube sound that I already have , Leads chime, sing, and stand out. My tube sound is a better pushed tube sound,Just a little hum.
I have several BBE pedals and love there sturdy construction and true bypass capabilities. I just think this pedal could do more for the price. It does the same thing as a mid +treble boosted EQ pedal but without the flexibility. It is noiser than my boss and danelectro eq pedals set a similiar freq. It also cuts the bass from the signal but you probably figured that. It would be nice if BBE would just make a freq boost with maybe a treble mid and bass knob with volume. That would much better value for the money than this.
