I bought this product used and I had fairly high hopes based on what I had heard/seen online. I must admit, this product was not as "effective" as I was expecting, but I think I set my hopes a little to high. The "flaw" with this product is that the returns from it diminish in proportion to the quality of your other equipment. With a good tube amp, the Sonic Stomp has a fairly inconspicuous effect on the sound, and the sound that is produced is not necessarily better than the original (I play through a Fender Blues Deluxe, which already has plenty of clarity, presence, and bass). However, the effectiveness of this pedal becomes much more noticeable when it is used in tandem with a distortion pedal (Boss DS-1) through a clean amp. Where this pedal really shines is through my Vox Valvetronix (a modelling amp), where there was a very noticeable and pleasing increase in tone. Overall, this product is very good, but I caution anyone interested that the better quality the rest of your gear, the less effect this pedal has. So if you get most of your tone from a good tube amp, this product is probably not for you. But, if you get most of your tone from distortion pedals or a solid state amp, this pedal is very effective and pleasant sounding.

I have had my sonic stomp for several years and I guess im not sure what it does. It seems just to add a different tone to my marshall but it just seems to be a waste of space now that I reflect on it. Its way too big for what it does. Seriously why is the case double the size of my other pedals? Anyway I removed it from my pedal board and my sound doesnt seem any different so thats why I am dogging this product.

Comments about BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
This is a great little pedal. I run it at the very end of my signal chain. It is a very subtle effect, but it really cleans up your tone. It adds sparkle to the high end, and definition to the low end. I love it, and won't be without one of these in the future.

Comments about BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
I use this with an Ampeg VH140c 2x12 combo in the front effects loop (140 watt, 2 channel solid state head with chorus) and it makes the combo bottom end and overall sound, even better. What really floored me was that it removes the minute fizz when there is that grinding searing high gain on lower bedroom volumes.
If you use the Sonic Stomp live you will probably like it when going preamp or direct-out to cab sim or to a PA. It really balances out the sound on flat EQ into the mixing or recording. Solid-state is a digital signal so the BEE works great on it.
When I was recording in a computer I used BBE Sonic Maximizer plug-ins. When I got the Sonic Stomp in my guitar setup running through the front effects loop of the amp with 6 inch guitar patch cables I was impressed. it is tiny enough to fit on top of most heads and high watt combo amps, with shorter cables.

Comments about BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
I bought this pedal because i was looking for a more focused tone. I found it. This pedal really tightens up your sound. It brightens up the highs, and keeps the lows in check from sounding too "loose" or "Muddeled". It works really well on my LP jr I made. I have a Japanese LP copy, with the Bridge pickup and volume knob only. This pedal helps out a lot with the lack of a tone knob. This is a great pedal, and I will be using it to record. I have an idea it will work very well.

Comments about BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
IF I can help the understanding of what this pedal does...it's not an effect...our ears are not perfect and all hear a bit differently. But one thing that does not change is the way bass waves and treble waves travel, and think about it...when you hear a loud car stereo while in your car, what do you hear?...bass...so to the point. this pedal gets the waves coming out of your amp a little tighter...keep at the end of your chain.. better yet to save floor space I keep it back by my amp...and to hear the true quality of this pedal just start with it on so you don't hear the subtle change, play a couple sample of songs clean and distorted then click it off and do the same and you'll never click it off again....it's almost like fixing your ears...and I also found setting the knobs at around the 1 o clock seems to be the sweet spot....I hope this helps to those that have not yet been introduced to sonic maximizers.....

Like a compressor at the front of your chain this is an essental piece of equipment at the end. Two controls Lo Contour & Process make for streamline adjustments. Beautiful retro modern graphics on fire engine red make it eye candy as well.
Sonic Maximizer is right. Simple to use, two dials. Stomp on and hear amazing clarity from any amp. One of those must have pedals.
Nice robust construction. fluid smooth controls. bright blue on-off LED.
Terrific value considering your tone will sound outstanding with such little fuss.
Comments about BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
This by far the best thing you can do for your tone. I used one in an analog pedal board for years and now I use one in an effect loop on a POD HD. Outstanding piece of equipment! The chages to you tone are subtle, but there better. Beefy lo's, clearer/chimey high's, just a fatter tone out the other end.
Not too many bells and whistles, but I love the Lo end contour.
Rock solid! Ive been using one for 7 years gigging every week with no problems.
Worth every penny! Fixes up your sound beautifully.

I like this pedal. It adds that little something to make your sound.
Very simple to use 2 knobs and a on/off swithch. Very sweet tones
Cheap enough for what it does
Comments about BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
With the return policy of Musicians Friend, you would be very wise to at least give this pedal a try. If it is not among the best investments you have made in effects pedals, I will be shocked. Having played for more than 30 years, I'm far from a novice when it comes to the many sounds that have been introduced in the guitar effects market. This is a pedal that you will hear a great deal of improvement over any sound your looking for.
This pedal has the ability to use whatever style you play, then add a degree of shimmer (for lack of better word) regardless of which pedal configuration you are using. It is the only pedal I've seen that never needs to be turned off, and is best left on all of the time. Since I have a small recording studio, I try to have on hand as many effecrts as possible. All of my amps are tube, and range from the Marshall JVM410H to 3 Fenders, and a Vox AC15C1. The Sonic Stomp gives me an edge with the clean Twin Reverb, or the high overdrive Marshall.
The quality seems to be that of a tank, and well made in every area. While in can use a 9 volt battery, I recommend a plug in power source such as the built in one on my pedal board. Because this is a pedal that should always be left on, batteries will loose power quickly.
When I look at some of the these pedals going for more a lot of moeny, the cost of this one is well worth every penny.
