OVERVIEW

Perfect tremolo sound.

Think an old Fender Blackface amp with a tremolo circuit like a Twin or Super Reverb. Now imagine that warm, pulsating effect of the sine-wave oscillator working its magic as perfected by Leo Fender. Pretty awesome, right? Reality check: your amp doesn't have a classic Leo tremolo circuit, or it just doesn't work well anymore. Fact is, a lot of those old tremolo circuits get pretty dodgy over time, often ending up delivering a jarring on/off square-wave effect or a weird popcorn-popping sound.

Enter Tremor. Created by Paul Gagon, former R&D Engineer at Fender and certified amp geek with soft spot for Leo-era classics, Tremor faithfully recreates the experience Leo's finest amp tremolo. Better yet, Tremor features dual foot-switchable speed controls. Just think: having two speeds locked and loaded means you can cover Crimson And Clover then follow that up with For What It's Worth. Okay, so maybe you've got a couple other songs in mind, but the cool thing is you can do it without reaching down to tweak a pedal or messing with your amp. You know, that old Twin with the tremolo that also makes popcorn. What's more, its bulletproof reliability means it can take the abuse of the road without breaking a sweat, unlike that vintage Blackface you've been babying all tour long.

BBE fans will note that Tremor's back with a new look that really nails the experience. Amp spotters will peg the flavor right away, with Tremor's white graphics on a matte black finish, complemented by cr¨me amp knobs. Tremor is just dripping with that transitional 1963 mojo, and once you plug into it, you'll find tremolo that would surely impress Leo himself.

I was reluctant to buy this pedal because I use a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp which already has the tremolo effect (Fender calls it vibrato). But I sometimes use other amps without built-in tremolo, and I got a smoking deal on this BBE pedal on sale. It's not an effect that I use often, but it does add a cool sound to certain songs. My pedal is the new version, black with white lettering and creme knobs. BBE recently revamped their pedal line, doing away with the cartoon graphics, which I never really cared for anyway. But they also did away with the power adapter, including instead a 9 volt battery. Gone, too, are the printed numbers 1-10 for each knob. And the worst change is the rubber pad on the bottom of the unit. It has a powerfully sickening smell that hits you the moment you open the box, and hasn't gone away yet. It is the familiar "Chinese rubber" stench that is so common on products these days. Now, on to the pedal function. I tried it through my Fender Deluxe Reverb (with built-in tremolo), plugged into the same channel as the Fender tremolo. The BBE pedal duplicates the Fender tremolo sound so much that it is hard to believe it. Actually, the BBE sounds slightly brighter and more sparkly to my ear. The difference is slight, but I think that I prefer the pedal sound to the "real deal". I never thought that I would say that, because I have never been a big pedal advocate, and I love Fender tube amps! The BBE Tremor has two tremolo speeds, so you can set them up with one faster than the other and switch back and forth at will. An LED is displayed at all times, indicating which speed (speed 1 or 2) is selected. The LED remains on even when the true-bypass switch is off. Some might find this annoying when not in use on your pedal board. And although two speeds are nice to have, one would be enough for me (it would also eliminate the LED). I have found this pedal to be quiet, and it is quite rugged, as are all BBE pedals. It draws 200mA. I really like this pedal. If you are looking for the real Fender sound, this is it! Now if I can only get past the smell...

It uses so much of the signal from your guitar that when you do you have to turn the guitar way u, and then after switching it off be sure and turn back down right away or you'll blow everyone out!! Musician's friend was not too helpful in returning it, Their policy sucks and so I'm forced to sell it off on my own. If it was described as it works it would be different-Good by MF!

Comments about BBE Tremor Analog Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I HAVE USED FENDER TWIN REVERBS FOR OVER 2O YEARS, BUT WHEN I STARTED USING LINE 6 AMPS, I FOUND THAT THE EFFECTS WERE ALL GOOD, EXCEPT FOR THE TREMOLO. THERE WAS NO WAY TO CUT BACK THE INTENSITY ON STAGE AND THE LINE 6 TREMOLO WAS TOO CHOPPY, HARSH, AND NOT EASILY ADJUSTABLE ON STAGE...
SO I GOT THE BBE TREMOR, WHICH HAS 2 SPEED SETTINGS AND THIS REALLY DOES THE JOB FOR CLASSIC ROCK, OLDIES, SURF, AND COUNTRY...
SOUNDS JUST LIKE THE TREMOLO HAD ON MY FENDER TWIN REVERBS, BUT HAS 2 TREMOLO SPEED SETTINGS AT THE PUSH OF A BUTTON, AND THAT IS EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU ARE GIGGING ON STAGE AND DON'T NEED TO BE FOOLING AROUND WITH YOUR AMP DURING A PERFORMANCE.

Comments about BBE Tremor Analog Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Ever since I sold my Fender Twin Reverb amp I have missed that great tremolo they have. I've used several makes of amps including Fender Mustang amps, Carvin, Sunn, Randall, and more recently a Line 6 150 watt 2x12 Celestion... The Line 6 has great effects, ...except for the Tremolo...There is no knob to lessen the tremolo intensity, rendering it not very useful for Classic Rock.
So I bought the BBE Tremor specifically to get the Fender type Tremolo with an adjustable speed and Intensity... It works great and has 2 speed controls so you can set them up for fast or slow tremolo with a click of the switch... I used it at a gig last night and I had the proper tremolo for the Doors, "Rider's on the Storm" and the proper tremolo for some CCR "Midnight Special" ...The BBE Tremor give you that Delta Blues Tremolo Sound, and the sound you need for Classic Rock, Country, Blues, Oldies & Surf Tunes... Now I've got that fabulous Fender Tremolo Sound and I don't have to spend a grand for a new Fender Twin... Works great for me!

Comments about BBE Tremor Analog Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal looking for a solid versatile tremolo that would handle a variety of situations. I wanted a classic, warm trem tone, but also something that would be able to produce a square wave "stutter" type tremolo effect. This pedal nails the classic tone, and comes very close to a true square wave stutter when the depth is turned all the way up. Overall, I am satisfied, and the price is incredible.

Comments about BBE Tremor Analog Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Few things about this tremolo to address. Sound wise, it's awesome. I didn't notice a decrease in volume when activated like some people. It gives you 2 trem speeds, so it's more versatile than other trems. Build quality is pretty good. Better than the average BBE. The major downside is that this people SMELLS. And yeah that's shallow and maybe it'll subside, but the rubber stench is so strong at first. It's probably the best tremolo pedal in the range regardless of the odor, but just a heads up.

Comments about BBE Tremor Analog Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I could not be more pleased with this box. I've been playing guitar for 50 years, still play live, have lots of experience in the studio and stage. I've been accumulating vintage amps and guitars for a very long time. This box is close to vintage Fender Vibrato that you could probably get. My 1964 Fender Vibroverb has incredible vibrato (Fender vibrato is actually tremolo), and this box is in the same ballpark. I use this box on my pedal-board for use with amps with no vibrato/tremolo. Just be sure to place it properly in the chain (after distortion and before reverb/delay/echo). No noise. Very versatile. Having two speed settings is great, as well as having LED lights for each of the two speeds, and LED for rate. This replaces a modded BOSS TR-2 tremolo on my board, which is very good too, but does not have the vintage vibe as this BBE Tremor. If you are looking for that lush vintage Fender sound, this is it.

I'd give 5 stars to a Fender tube amp's tremolo, so this is the next best thing. I haven't experienced a better trem pedal. The choice of 2 speed settings is brilliant. Saves a lot of bending down and twiddling, plus gives an interesting twist to some songs.
