OVERVIEW

Analog delay with extra features.

Two Timer is a classic analog Bucket Brigade Delay with that warm, haunting reverb and tape-like echoes. Pure analog awesomeness is just half the picture, as Two Timer doubles your pleasure with two independent delay times selectable via the Time1/Time2 mode footswitch. This makes it possible to have one delay set up for a short slapback rhythm sound while another is set longer for solos.

That gradual degradation of sound quality that occurs with each subsequent repeat is a charming sound that is ingrained deeply into vintage rock, and the Two Timer is a faithful recreation of that sound.

Two Timer delivers the consistency and ruggedness that are the hallmark of BBE pedals, designed for guitarists whose gigs are as demanding as their ears. It features a beefy mil-spec circuit board with big, fat signal traces, 1% metal-film resistors and high-voltage poly caps, all backed up by a robust, true hardwire bypass.
When you want the finest vintage analog delay experience without the headaches, Two Timer is a great choice.

FEATURES
  • Authentic Bucket Brigade Delay circuit
  • High-voltage poly caps for better tone
  • Military-spec circuit board for reliability
  • Easy access battery compartment
  • True hardwire bypass

I really like BBE pedals, and I love delay pedals. This one is well made and sturdy, with quality knobs (Telecaster style) and switches, and like all BBE pedals, has recently had a graphics change. The cartoonish images are gone, which is fine by me. They now have a different grade of rubber pad on the bottom, which has that objectionable Chinese rubber smell that doesn't seem to go away. No longer do you get a power source (wall wart), but instead you get a cheap battery. The rather brief instruction manual states that this pedal uses 200mA. My Way Huge Aqua-Puss pedal used 16mA. The LED to indicate that the unit is on is directly behind the "Time 2" knob, and is not visible if you are sitting down. It is true-bypass, analog, and has two time knobs (hence the name) and a selector switch, complete with an LED to let you know which time setting you are on. This may close the deal for some, but I have little use for two settings on a delay, and find the always-on time LED annoying

This is a rugged, solid effects pedal, and is visually attractive, in a sort of metallic-cranberry high-gloss enamel color. I use mostly delays and compressors for effects, and like a delay for slap-back on country tunes. The Two Timer can do slap-back as well as quite a bit more, having ample controls. However, I find the tone to be too brittle and harsh. I use the above-mentioned Aqua-Puss, and I occasionally use a Danelectro FAB Echo. The Aqua-Puss has a chewy, organic sound, and the FAB Echo is a one-trick pony that does a super job of slap-back. To my ear, they both sound better than the Two Timer. Your mileage may very, and your ear might disagree, but I can't recommend this pedal.

Comments about BBE Two Timer Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is one of the best things I have ever purchased in my life. I absolutely love this pedal. Sounds great, works great, built extremely well too. BBE customer service is amazing too, I contacted their office in CA with a few questions, was connected to a real person automatically who was glad to answer my questions. By the way, the 2 internal trimpots on the left alter the delay times, the 1 on the right effects the mix. I wish I would have bought 2 when they were on sale.

Comments about BBE Two Timer Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal offers more delay time than many vintage BBD effect pedals, but not nearly what a new "digilog" ("anagital?") effect would offer. Before you buy one of those new pedals that simulate an analog delay--and they get better every year--you owe it to your ears to get a real BBD. The warmth, the expanse and the tone they offer is unbeatable. The Two Timer is great pedal that offers two delay times. This is as close to tap tempo as a BBD should come while still staying true to the original. It sounds more crisp and up front than my vintage BBD and the build quality is fantastic. Buy some real BBD before they all disappear.

I put this pedal in front of my carbon copy MXR and combined I get some of the best sounding delays you could ever hear. I have been playing for over fifty years now and I have about 35 different pedals that I like to Experiment with and this combination is delay Heaven.

Comments about BBE Two Timer Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Check out the price and compare this pedal to others like the Carbon Copy. I haven't played the CC but if the prices are close, I can't imagine this one being worth it, simply because of the shorter delay times.

However, with that being said, I love the sound of this pedal. Compared to the EHX Memory Boy it replaced, it just has a more nature, ambient sound to it. I like it.

Having two delay times is a nice feature but it's kind of a gimmick. When you change the delay time, don't you usually also tweak the mix and decay settings a bit? Why wouldn't BBE just add two more knobs and have two complete time/mix/decay presets for users to switch between? I don't get it. But I guess it's hard to complain about added features. I would like this pedal just as much even if it didn't have the extra delay time.

Comments about BBE Two Timer Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Like Most BBE products, there is not much to complain about. Solid build, good sound, dependable, etc. My only quibble is that the unit malfunctions when using a power supply; there is the need to 'double clutch" when switching from Mono to Stereo. When a battery is used, the unit functions flawlessly. I would give it 5 Stars if not for the power supply issue.

Comments about BBE Two Timer Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Dead quiet switching, bypass seems to lose a touch of tone but barely noticeable. Can't quite yet get it to sound more like a reverb but then again, it's not a reverb pedal. Might sound more like a reverb in live settings. Otherwise does just what it is supposed to do. Although not quite analog, it most definitely doesn't have that obvious digital thin sound. MF always delivers!

This pedal solves the problem of needing a short and long delay for live performances. Nice warm sounding analog delay. Only two problems. In a perfect world both delay settings would have an independent "Repeats" knob, and the delay type LED light is always on, which can be confusing. There is a separate light for ON/OFF function, so it just takes some getting use too. Great pedal, quality construction. It's always nice when one pedal can replace two on your pedal board.
