This is my first bass head. My previous amps were combos. For comparison sake, the last, best amp I owned was an Ampeg BA115 100 watt combo. As far as volume goes this thing blows the 100 watt out of the water. Although the Ampeg IS a loud 100 watts. I run this through a Hartke VX410 cab and it sounds great to me. Since the amp is 4 ohms and the cab is 8 ohms I'm only pumping about 180 watts, but it is plenty loud. I can't imagine running this through 2 4ohm cabs and developing all 300 watts! Insane! Never had to turn this beast up past halfway, even for an outdoor show. You can get a lot of different sounds with this. Not only does it have the EQ, but it has a Deep (my favorite), Bright, UltraBass, and Shape function. The ultrabass isn't very useful. Has a weird chorus like effect. Use it sparingly. The shape is pretty cool. It's just a knob you turn that changes the sound as you turn it. Kind of from a bright, poppy sound to a deep warm sound. The Bright and Deep functions are pretty self explanatory. The first time I used this at a show, we played a 40 minute outdoor set, I loaned it to the next band because their bassist was experiencing problems with his head. The next band played a 45 minute set with it. After 2 consecutive sets the thing was as cool as a cucumber and I got a chance to hear it from the audience perspective. It sounded great. Does come with a very sturdy pedal to turn two of the effects on and off. I run this thing pretty hard at practices (we only practice 3 times a month so they are usually marathon 5 hour practices) and it has never shown any sign of crapping out. Very sturdy. The thing weighs 30 lbs! But that is just due to it's massive transformer which is a good thing. Has a fan to keep it cool, and a Speakon connection if you want to use that. The knobs are kind of loose so they will invariably be knocked off the desired settings a lot when tranporting. I only paid $500 for this head and a Hartke VX410 cab. You can't beat that with a stick!

I bought this head on Friday with the Ultrabass BA410 1000W 4x10 Bass Cabinet and at practice that night, lost sound on the thing. As we're all checking it out, white smoke starts pouring from the fan, about filled the whole room. I'm thinking no big deal, probably manfacturing fault, it happens. Get a different head on Saturday of a different brand more expensive, but got a deal so walked out with a different head. Had practice on Sunday, now I'm in the middle of the first set and lost a speaker in the cabinet, glue separated. There was no playing it at that point and I lost complete respect for the Behringer company. I will not buy anything from them again. I went and got another cabinet of the same make as the head.. You definetly get what you pay for.. I'd stear clear. If you want to save money you're better off going used than Behringer.

This bass head is unbelieveable. The price is outrageously low and the quality is great. If your in the market and your low on cash this is a great deal for you.
I'm using this thing with Hartke 1x15 Transporter/Hartke 2x10 Transporter cabinets. My bass is a Fender Hot-Rodded American Precision. The sound quality of this amp is unreal, especially for the price. Even at twice the price, it would be a good deal. You can dial in just about any tone you want. I haven't had to turn it up above 5 yet. At home, it stays down at 2 or 3. Plenty of power. The construction seems top notch so far. The knobs are a bit on the loose side, but I can overlook it. If you want to have a little cash left over for a new cab, buy one of these before the price goes up. You won't be sorry. If you buy an Eden or SWR in the future, this will always make one sweet backup amp.
I purchased this product over 1 year ago and could not be happier with it's quality & performance. I practice with it and gigged with it and can truly say it's the best bass amp head you will ever buy for the money. BASS PLAYER MAGAZINE (April 2005) gave it a favorable review too, with one comment being the knob control labels were hard to read. That's because the protective enclosure overhangs the control knobs a bit. It also protects them. If you are just starting out, you will not find a better power amp for the money, but the semi-pro will like it too. I use this with one new Behringer BB210 (paper cone) speaker cab and one Ampeg Classic SVT 2 x 10 bass speaker cab. It rules! You won't be disappointed.
I bought this amp as a gamble, never played it, i was worried that it would reflect its low cost. I'e owned it for about a year and Ive never regretted it. This is and excellent bass for the price. I couldnt believe sucjh a good amp could go for so little. I relly like that there are multiple controls for shaping your sound. One awesome feature is that it has a lot of power and thump. you can crank it and still get the clear, but powerful wall of low end. sounds great with a 5-string as well. for anyone shopping for a high powered amp with a tight budget, this is it. beginner or experianced, it works great for everything. good job behringer!
Couldn't be more pleased. Had my doubts due to low price, but the unit exceeds my fondest hopes. Great tone with a Fender Precision fretless, tons of power, great features.
I got this and the BB410, and it's just perfect. The sound can go from a complete silky smooth tone to a tinny attack. Ultrabass is pretty much only for knocking things (and people) down, but the shape is amazing, i love the tone. The bright and deep buttons only add to the fun. PLaying bass on this rig is just plain more enjoyable than any other setup. It sounds awesome, and the value is through the roof. Plenty of power for those bigger rooms, and can keep up with any guitar amp.
I experienced the problems as Dion in "Hmmm, faulty product or bad luck?" Constant, annoying distortion, and a popping a crackling low end. I used Behringer's email help service. All they told me was to experiment with the knobs. (As if I hadn't already). I've only had it for about 36 hours and I'm already thinking of sending it back and getting a Gallien-Krueger Backline 600 Bass Head. It's an extra hundred bucks, then again i knew the price was too good to be true.
Great Bass head. Plenty of punch with a very warm sound. The construction is good and the controls are clean. Nice feature with the foot pedel but not very useful. Only 2 functions are available but it is a nice feature. For the price, you cannot find a better or an equivilent peice of equipment. Great buy. You won't be sorry.
I have compared this to about every Bass Amp out there. Yo cannot beat the value for the money. I liked it so much I bought aa used one when they switched to class D amps. I just bought one of the Class D also so we will see how it holds up to this :Bad Boy":)
- Was this a gift?:
Behringer really did good when they made this head. It is one sweet power head. Great clean, loud power. Only one thing bothers me and it's my Speakers. They can't handle the "Ultra Bass" they just rattle like crazy. But the 5 band eq and the "bright" and "deep" functions are very nice.
