I got this amp six months ago and i realized that at lower volumes this thing was great but as you got past 5 on both nobs it sounds like its about to blow itself apart. So today I had a technician look at it, and behold the speaker is only rated at 120 watts. surprise surprise, I will say that the amp is good but the speaker is not up to snuff. So if you don't mind changing the speaker than get this it has the power, its built like a rock, nice EQ options, along with the effect input and output

I had this amp for about 2 years and iI would play with my friend who plays guitar in a garage at low levels and it sounded great but once we got a drummer, we had to turn it up so I put the master half way up and the volume at half to, and it sounded like horrible it lost the low end sound that is had at lower levels. After a few weeks of playing like that, the amp started making weird sounds by its self, I disconnected my bass and turned down all the volume knobs and it still made the sound, I took it to one of my friends who knows amps and he took it apart and notice how cheaply made this amp was, so I would just like to say if you want this amp to play in a band please reconsider this amp is not meant to be played at high volumes.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I bought one of these. Lasted about 6 months. Speaker is junk, won't handle the load and you can't gig with this, you'll get buried, even at a small club. This is strictly a practice amp. The amplifier finally died at 6 months, I use the cab as a monitor.. A very expensive monitor that sux. If you want a good amp, find another one, here.

A Worthy Combo

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I'm not an amp connoisseur and I don't claim to be, but I know for sure that this amp is a fantastic value. It's EQ and options are simplistic but they get the job done. It doesn't have any weird effects and honestly brings out the tone of your bass guitar without distorting it. I haven't had any problems with the speaker thus far (I've had it for about a year) and I can crank the volume up without it crackling a bit. For a no-nonsense bass combo at a very fair price, this is the end-all amplifier.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I spent some time saving up for a bass amp for awhie before I finally got this thing. I was so excited when it came in the mail I plugged in even though my brother was sleeping (with headphones of chors). The sound of this thing is just about perfect for my likings, great deep bass thump to it that will blend greatly when I get a band and powerful enough valume to make every window in my house sound like their going to brake just touching the string on half valume.I really don't have any complaints about it; it gives me my ideal lows and good enough highs, I play alot of Bon Jovi (lot of lows) and lot of Casting Crowns (a bit of highs) and rock it out with both.

Dissappointment

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I figured 180W would be enough to play small gigs. Well during the first session with the full group I had to turn up the volume to about 50% and oh my God what happened to my lows? I lost all my tone and it sounded horrible. However for the value, this is not a bad little amp to practice with.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

This is an excellent product. We switch around instruments a lot in my band, from guitar to bass to keyboards, and this amp has impressed us with quality for all three. This was wonderfully priced, the amp is durable, has very little distortion, even when cranked all the way up, and the EQ offers plenty of tone control. It has an incredible amount of range and was a perfect buy.

Ask me a question

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I wrote a review earlier that was less than favorable for this amp. I need to revisit this review. After discovering that I had the -10db cut button on, I found a lot of power I didn't realize I had in this amp! My Cort walnut Action bass has passive pickups and now that the amp is reset, I have tremendous tonal possibilities. We're a weekend bar band and we get loud at times. I'm running now at less than 1/2 volume at loudest, and this thing ROCKS! I love the tone and the simple controls-chicken head style knobs that start a 1 and go to 10. I have the low, low-mid, and mid at 7 and the high at 5. There's nice articulation in the high end and you can hear the sound of my fingers on the the strings, with a nice crisp high end, and punchy, muscular, low end. Good midrange definition. The quality is very high, and the amp conveys a total professional appearance. I'm very happy I bought this amp. I would choose it over the Ampeg, Peavey, Fender or Crate, in my opinion as a 30+ year bass player is this is the best value and outstanding quality. You will not be disappointed!

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I currently have had this amp for about 4 months and was bought fairly new the amp is well worth the money and when the you go to play loud your volume is way up but there is many ways to fix this the amp is worth the purchase especially if you use a lot of mixing equipment

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I got this amp about a year ago. I was just looking for something cheap but loud. If thats all you're looking for, go for it. The low end is great, a little muddy at high volumes but nice. However, if you like to do any Primus sort of thing with the high end tapping, I would not reccomend this amp. Go for something with a tweeter.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

Got this amp, and played it less than 5 minutes before it started smoking. Before I could get to the switch to turn it off...POP! It was dead. Fuse obviously did not fuction or it might have save the amp. And in the 4 minutes it ran, I have a Kustom 65 watt Bass amp that is lowder and clearer. Much more thump.

Good value bass amp

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

This amp is apparently the big brother to the Behringer BX600, a very bassic (pun) albeit good entry. No whiz-bang features, really. Switch for passive/ active input, "Shape" feature, (pretty much a low-end boost),Line in for CD etc., XLR direct line out for connecting to mixing board or recording device. (That feature sold Me.) The real star here is the 15" Jensen/Bugera speakerwhich provides plenty of thump, plus a horn tweeter for bright top end. This is as loud as You are going to get, for the price. I have one of those "bobble-head" figurines on top of the amp & the vibration made it's head fly off! No joke-If You don't need a lot of effects, just good pounding thumpage- This is an excellent choice. It's Built tough, heavy, and powerful. Seems it would survive gigging.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I'm overall pleased with this amp, although it's not quite loud enough in stock trim. That's probably in part due to my pickups not being hot enough, but that's a minor quibble. The tone is fantastic, and you can get most any clean sound you want out of it. It really came into its own when I added a preamp to boost the signal a bit, and now it rattles the windows in my house while still being tonally flexible. The XLR output is a boon for playing through a PA, and it keeps the amp's volume from overwhelming my bandmates on stage as well.

Huge letdown

By ACAP61

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I recently purchased a Behringer BX1800 bass combo amp. I aproached this purchase with an open mind. Granted my last rig was a Cerwin-Vega reflex cabinet and a Kustom Head (many years ago)that would shake a house. Just wanted something to have fun with. The low end "buzz" was just awful. To borrow a discription it was like playing through wet mush! My wife was thoroughly dissapointed and ran to show me the exchange policy.I don't know where exactly the 180 watts go because It doesn't get very loud, it just sounds muddy, even at low volume. Xchanged for a GK Brat pack Half stack I love. Totally worth the extra Hundred bucks. If the sound stinks there is no quality or value. A sub mediocre product.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I just got this amp last week, and having used a Fender amp of similar size, I am very happy with this amp so far. It has great depth, the tone is excellent, and I would say it can get pretty loud (haven't actually truned it all the way up yet because it's so loud). Should be great for small gigs and practice, which is what I bought it for. Doesn't have a ton of features compared to other amps, but it works, and that's all that matters

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

im in a metal band and we play shows every weekend locally. and i needed an amp that would keep up with all the power that goes into our shows. well.. i found it. i got this amp for christmas and it hasn't let me down yet. the other members in the band are using half stacks, and this amp is just as loud as one of them. which is amazing cause of its size. the only problem ive had with this amp is that its weird to carry by yourself. having only one handle it puts a bad strain on your back.so i just built a dolly for it and now its the perfect amp for an amazong price!

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

It isn't the best quality amp, but it definitely was a good buy for the amount of money it cost. I wasnt expecting a whole lot from this amp, but it has more kick than I originally thought. It is a great amp to start off with, especially for those beginners who want to hear themselves over their drummer.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX1800 Bass Combo 180W:

I am a faithful Behringer fan. Love the prices and quality of all the items they offer, but I wasen't quite sure what the amps would sound like. I had been beating up a little Harke for awhile but soon found I needed more power. This Amp did'nt let me down it has great features and presence. Very loud with zero breakup. Good amp for the person who plays once and awhile live, and for practice.
