I play a couple of high end acoustic guitars. I had never considered until now to purchase an acoustic amp. I finally made the move and I amnot disappointed. The proble with many musicians as my Luthier has stated is that they buy low end instruments and expect equipment to make them sound better than what you have paid for. I feel I have made a steal with this amp and have no regrets. Once I went direct XLR to my PA system I was blown away. I don't rely on effects, so the sound is clear, bright and no distortion as one had mentioned in an earlier review.

I own several Behringer products including 2 of their small amps and am very pleased with the items I own. I was NOT pleased with this amp. The amp microphone effects circuit went haywire and was making loud irritating sounds, WITH AND WITHOUT a mic or guitar plugged in. Additionally, the effects send circuit had a short. This perhaps reflects quality control. As I said, I have other Behringer gear I am happy with so I was surprised by these issues. It's gong back and I will not reorder this. I need A RELIABLE ACOUSTIC AMP. Although more money, I going for the AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp. Maybe I just got a lemon......

My Epi's Perfect Companion...

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

As an owner of an Epiphone AJ-100CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar (which I reviewed here), I chose this for it's amplifier almost three years ago. Trust me when I say one could never go wrong with this outstanding, beautiful & powerful sounding amplifier. I have even used it at times for my regular electric guitars, winding up with a big ol' smile on my face every time. I consider it a trusted friend that will never let me down, no matter the venue. And if the venue gets too big, then I'll buy at least one more to go along with this one. Great Job Behringer...

cool little Amp

By Anonymous

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I know this amp is not the loudest amp in the world, but as far as a practice amp or coffee shop type gigs it's perfect. Ive had it for about 2 years and it still runs smooth. Honestly what really makes the difference in the end is the preamp system or pick up you have for your acoustic. I have a Fishman prefix pro and plugged into the amp it sounds really good. The cool things is you can use the amp as a direct in to a PA for a louder setup and still get all the effects you need and well as a really clean sound.

Great with GR setup

By Charles McGuire

from Undisclosed

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Good buy for the money but if you can afford it go for the 1800.
Plug my GR33 into the CD input in the back and run ther guitar out to the Inst. channel. The GR through the Aux in sounds as good, or better, as through my Bose computer speakers.
Would have liked a master volume control and a little more headroom on the mic channel.
Looks stuuning and everything appears well built.
I've always had good luck wiith Behringer's products and this is one of my favorites.

Very Solid Acoustic Amp

By rtw13

from Phoenix

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I really don't see how a person can do much better than this amp for the money. Classical guitar sounds great, bluegrass comes through very clean and crisp, and also gives a great warm jazz sound (as in instant 1950s/1960s vintage sound with a decent hollow body jazz box).I've played indoors and out, and also hooked up a singer to the other channel for vocals, and I'm still extremely satisfied with how well everything sounds. The Bugera speakers may be the best I've ever heard for acoustic music. If I had a complaint, it would be that there are too many options. I don't know why anyone would want a bunch of effects on acoustic music and--even if they did--why they wouldn't use separate effect pedals or a board. But, they are there if you want to play with them.I've played through a number of amps that cost much, much more and still wouldn't use anything else for acoustic music in small venues. Very highly recommended.

Not the best I've seen

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I "test drove" one of these today and I was not impressed. The sound was very tinny, in spite of the fact that the on-board EQ on my guitar was set to boost the lo end and cut the hi end. The EQ on the amp had little to no effect on the output. In addition, the overall output seems very low. I compared this to a Marshall AS50D at the same time and the Marshall had much higher output--in spite of a lower wattage rating--the Marshall obviously has more efficient speakers. You get what you pay for and for me the better value was paying more for the Marshall.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Initially I was thinking about getting the ACX450 but it doesn't have the output to connect to the sound board. I used to plug into the main sound board in my church, then say a prayer hoping the sound guy will make it right. But recent experience with arrogant sound guys made me think of getting an amp that I can plug my mic and guitar in, then run a single XLR line to the sound board. This way, I have better control over my taste.I finally got a chance to use the ACX900 at my church. As planned, I plugged my own mic and guitar into the amp then ran an XLR line to the soundboard. After some adjustments, the sound came out fine and it was able to feed a gymnastic with the addition of the main sound system. The ACX900 filled the gaps where the sound level was weakest (we have a wide room and the center is always acoustically weak). But this is not one of the best sounding acoustic amp out there. I have used a Fender acoustic amp (the AC30) and feel the sound quality (in terms of fidelity) is not as good as the Fender. But I may be picky here cause I do listen to high fidelity home stereos systems a lot.The effects on the ACX900 is ok but not on par to the Fender AC30. On the Fender, I always turn on the chorus for the mic channel and hall effect for the guitar. I did the same for the ACX900 today and I have to say I like the Fender's effect better.I believe the final stage (power amp) is the weakest link. I connected the output from ACX900 to my home high fidelity system. I like the sound coming from the speaker of the home system a lot better.Overall, I think the amp is solid but sound quality wise is not up to the Fender AC30 standard. However, this amp is a lot cheaper then the Fender and claims to put out 90 Watts so I think the money is worth.

Tinny and weighs a ton

By Gecko

from Ashburn, VA

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

This thing is small and still weighs a ton. If it sounded good, that would redeem it, but the tinny sound just could not be corrected, regardless of settings. I had Fender Acoustasonic 30 amp, which I would recommend over this one. Should have kept the Fender. I returned the Behringer right away.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I am very fond of Behringer based on the value for the price. I got this baby and put it through the full workout. It is markedly better for live performance or recording than what I had been doing. The effect are somewhat limiting, but overall it's a great amp!

Took it out of the box, plugged it in, lights on chan 1 flashing with nothing connected. turned tuner and phase and feedback off to get sound. Amp sounded terrible. Connected to chan 2 and was quite suprised how good it sounded. Went back to chan 1 and it was bad. Returned it and will try something else. Amp does look nice and vintage, too bad it doesn't function as promised. Mfriend was great about the return.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I am very pleased with my Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier. It has all the features (reverb effects, Equalizer, foot pedal, two channels, microphone jack, etc.)that I need in an amplifier. An exceptional value and quality amp for the money. Sounds great with my Gibson ES P-90, as well as, my acoustic with fishman pickup or miked through the amp. I also like the brown and tweed vintage look as well. Great amp for practice and small gigs. A lot of amp for the money.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I was so impressed with this amp (900) that I purchased the next model up (1800)for the extra power just incase I come out of retirement and start gigging again. I've used regular guitar amps(fenders)& PA's in the past and always had a problem with feedback from the guitar and mic and not being satisfied with the sound. That problem is solved with this product. I am able to stand in front of the amp at a reasonable volume level and not experience feedback - and the sound - very natural ('79 martin HD28 with martin thin line under the bridge)the reverb and echo effect are ok/decent. It even sounds good with an electric jazz guitar. I recommend to anyone who is looking for a good value acoustic amp.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I rather like the amp but there are plastic parts in harms way. I had a knob come off and thought that I could just put it back on and then found out that the tab coming out of the amp was also plastic and broke off making that effect level pretty useless. You get what you pay for.

      It works for me.

      By Gary-lrmyv

      from Houghton, MI

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I have used this amp for twin fiddle Cajun music as well as country guitar (D-28 with B-Band) and mandolin with attached mike. I get a great acoustic sound. I use a Fishman pre amp and the on board 7-band to EQ out bow noise and pick quack. Most gigs have been outdoor festival and park concerts. The XLR line out direct out to the PA gets the volume up and the amp works as a monitor. This amp has done the job for me with no problems.

Have owned Fender Acoustasonic Junior for years and wanted to try something new... bought another acoustic amp a month or so ago, but it only had 1 speaker and I was not all that impressed with the sound or the features (although it was certainly lighter than any 2 spkr amp). Then I saw this puppy. I've had good luck with Behringer -- a previous amp that I gave to my brother, and some pedals. They seem to be well-designed and cost-effective. GET TO THE POINT: I love this amp, esp for the price. I have complete control over the sound, and it maintains that rare balance between an amp not coloring the sound of a high-end acoustic guitar, and delivering the colors you *want* to hear when you want to hear them. So, yeah, I'm happy, and mF was great about this "swap."

I did not realize how bad it sounded until I ran my Martin direct into my new PA system. If you can't afford anything better I guess it would do.
